Titleist – Introduction of the new Tour Soft golf ball, delivering faster ball speed, distance, short game control and soft feel

January 15, 2024 – Faster core technology and a reformulated cover system drives improved all-round performance in the new Titleist Tour Soft golf ball, providing golfers with longer distance off the tee and increased spin into the green – with an exceptionally soft feel off the club face:

  • New faster, larger core delivers ball speed for more distance off the tee, incredible soft feel and low spin on long game shots.
  • Reformulated thin Fusablend cover provides dependable greenside spin for excellent short game control.
  • 346 quadrilateral dipyramid dimple design offers an efficient aerodynamic package and optimized ball flight for long distance.

“Golfers who tee up Tour Soft are looking for soft feel and performance throughout the bag,” said Jeremy Stone, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing. “Every change we made to new Tour Soft gives players a better golf ball from tee to green.”

Tour Soft features a new, large core that increases ball speed, and distance off the tee while providing an incredible soft feel on every shot. The 1.608” diameter of Tour Soft’s core makes it the largest ionomer-covered core in the market.

Engineered over Tour Soft’s core is its thin FusaBlend cover which has been reformulated to increase spin and control into and around the greens. FusaBlend is a Titleist proprietary combination of ionomers and softening polymers used to create a cover material with spin performance and feel that is unmatched among other ionomer covers.

“The core is the engine of the golf ball, and that’s where a ball gets its speed,” said Mike Madson, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball R&D. “What makes new Tour Soft unique is the size of its core, which gives the ball even more of its fastest material and allows for exceptional speed in the long game. Then when you get into your scoring clubs, Tour Soft’s FusaBlend cover over that large core gives golfers the spin needed to hit it closer to the hole.”

The unique size of Tour Soft’s core has only become achievable through continued innovations to the manufacturing processes at Titleist Ball Plant 2, located in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

“Manufacturing a 1.608” core is not an easy task, but the advantages it delivers to golfers in on-course performance is tremendous,” Madson said. “We’re only able to produce a core that large because of our manufacturing expertise. We have total control over all our processes, which allows us to make the advancements needed to create a core at that size that performs the same from ball to ball and dozen to dozen.”

Across the entire Titleist golf ball family, each golf ball model has its own unique dimple pattern to optimize aerodynamics and flight for its respective construction. Tour Soft golf balls feature a 346 quad dipyramid dimple pattern, resulting in extremely efficient aerodynamics for optimized flight and distance.

  • Availability: New Tour Soft golf balls will be offered in White, high optic Yellow and Green, available in golf shops in 24th January, 2024. Tour Soft will be available in Pink in July 2024.
  • RRP: 44,99€.

Titleist – New TruFeel golf ball, an improved design delivering long distance, increased greenside spin and ultra-soft feel

January 15, 2024 – The new Titleist TruFeel, the next generation of the softest Titleist golf ball, is designed to provide long distance and increased greenside spin and control with an ultra-soft feel on every shot – through advanced core and cover technologies:

  • New TruTouch core combines long distance and fast ball speeds with a very soft feel off the club face.
  • Softer 3.0 TruFlex cover delivers increased greenside spin for more short game control.
  • TruFit aerodynamics give golfers a penetrating, low ball flight and long distance from a unique, spherically tiled 376 tetrahedral dimple design.

“TruFeel has always been a very soft and very long golf ball, and those are important performance attributes to the TruFeel player,” said Jeremy Stone, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing.

“With the newest generation of TruFeel, golfers are going to find an even better performing golf ball that maintains its feel and profile along with the ball-to-ball quality and consistency expected from every Titleist model.”

New to TruFeel is a thicker, softer 3.0 TruFlex cover that increases greenside spin, while working in combination with a new, reformulated TruTouch core to provide long distance with Titleist’s softest feel. Across the entire Titleist golf ball family, each golf ball model has its own unique dimple pattern to optimize aerodynamics and flight for its respective construction. TruFeel’s 376 tetrahedral dimple pattern delivers the penetrating flight and total distance that TruFeel players count on.

“With new TruFeel, our goal was to keep what people love about the product and deliver even more performance in the short game,” said Mike Madson, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball R&D.

“That softer, thicker cover is going to give golfers a little more greenside spin and performance. The reformulated core gives players long distance and soft feel. And with TruFeel being a Titleist product, it gets the same focus and attention from a manufacturing standpoint as every other ball in our lineup. TruFeel enjoys a loyal following because of its quality, consistency and continuous improvement”.

Every TruFeel golf ball is made by Titleist associates at Titleist owned and operated Ball Plant 2 in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, ensuring consistency in performance quality and feel.

  • Availability: New TruFeel (White) will be available in golf shops worldwide on 24th January, 2024. Yellow TruFeel, on 1st of March, 2024; with Matte Red on 15th May, 2024.

Titleist – New Vokey Design SM10 wedges debut this week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions

January 2, 2024 – They haven’t been officially presented yet, but we now know that the new Titleist Vokey Design SM10 wedges – the next generation of the most played wedges on the PGA Tour – are making their debut this week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, which is being held at the Kapalua Plantation Course, in Maui (Hawaii, USA).

“There is always room to improve your wedge game.” The Vokey team never relents in their efforts to produce wedges that are more effective, more consistent, and more versatile – allowing more players to hit more great shots – with each and every series we release.

In other words, what we can expect from the new SM10 is something good, even better than the SM9. Bob Vokey, Aaron Dill, and the rest of the Vokey team have spent the past 2 years tirelessly testing and refining prototypes with the top players in the world. Now it’s time to put them through their final test on golf’s biggest stage, the Tour.

We should take note of the first event of the year, and social media in the coming weeks, to learn about how the SM10 wedges are introduced on Tour, in the hands of professionals. By the time the official launch happens, we will have got to know all of them in depth (specifications, lofts, bounces, sole grinds, etc.), and they will soon be at the retailers, within reach of our golf bags.

LET – Extension of the partnership with Titleist as official golf ball of the Ladies European Tour

December 18, 2023 – The Ladies European Tour (LET) has today announced the renewal of its partnership with Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, for a further three years.

Titleist became the LET’s Official Golf Ball Partner at the start of the 2021 season for a three-year period, having established the relationship in 2020 when it supplied Pro V1 golf balls for the LET’s return to play.

The deal sees Titleist continue to provide its market leading Pro V1 golf balls to practice on ranges for LET players across all tournaments on the LET schedule, as well as both organisations developing on-site activations and working together to create digital campaigns.

As part of the LET and Titleist’s commitment to women’s golf and in the spirit of the LET’s mantra, #RaiseOurGame, the tournament’s market leading Pro V1 golf balls used on the practice range will be donated to good causes such as local junior golf programmes, National Golf Federations or direct to the host venue.

This is a key part of the partnership which shows the two brands supporting the ongoing development of new talent across the world and means each tournament leaves a lasting legacy in the region it takes place.

Since its first golf ball was made in 1935, Titleist has been dedicated to making the best performing, most consistent and highest quality product in the game – helping golfers at all levels to play their best, shoot their lowest scores and ultimately enjoy the game.

The Titleist Pro V1 is the most successful piece of equipment in the sport’s history and since its introduction in 2000, it has been the overwhelming ball of choice across the worldwide professional tours – including the LET – and equally successful with amateur golfers.

Fiona Harold, Commercial Director at the LET, said: “Since welcoming Titleist to the LET family as an Official Partner in 2021, our relationship has gone from strength to strength.

Titleist is committed to supporting the women’s game on all levels and we’re delighted to continue working with such a prestigious brand that is hugely important to the tour and our members.

We look forward to our ongoing partnership as we continue to ‘Raise Our Game’ across the world, providing the number one ball in golf to our members and leaving a legacy at every tournament on our schedule.”

“We are proud to partner with the LET for the next three years and see this is a great fit for our respective organisations,” said Matthew Johnson, General Manager – UK Region, Acushnet Europe.

“Titleist has supported LET players for many years and the extension of this partnership will give the players the opportunity to practice as well as play with the #1 ball in golf.

“At the core of the Titleist business is improving the accessibility of our products and services for any dedicated golfer.

“This association will provide opportunities to support local community programmes and collaborate on many more great initiatives in helping raise the awareness, interest and participation in women’s golf – something we have also pledged as signatories of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter.”

Titleist – The Tour-Proven low-bounce T Grind wedge, added to the Vokey Design SM9 line-up

January 20, 2023 – The unrivaled versatility of the Vokey Design SM9 wedge lineup will be adding even more shot making options with the introduction of the low-bounce T Grind one of the most popular grinds on the PGA Tour. Previously available only as a WedgeWorks custom order, the T Grind will now be widely available in both stock and custom options as an extension to the existing SM9 family. Offered in SM9 58.04T and 60.04T models, the T becomes the seventh grind in the SM9 matrix.

Engineered by Master Craftsman Bob Vokey, the T Grind is built for players seeking to unlock ultimate creativity and versatility around the greens. As a low-bounce wedge with a narrow crescent surface and wider back flange, the grind allows for shot making under any condition. Players with shallow and precise deliveries, as well as those playing off firm conditions, will benefit from the T Grind’s sole design. Compared to the L Grind, SM9’s other low bounce option, the T Grind features a narrower forward sole and more aggressive heel, toe and trailing edge relief.

“Wedge play is an art, and the T Grind brings out the best in the artist,” said Bob Vokey. “The leading edge stays low to the playing surface as the wedge is rotated, which allows the golfer to hit a variety of shots from tight lies. This is the wedge that really made Vokey Grinds an important part of our process – and is still a great option to this day.”

T GRIND ON TOUR

The Vokey T Grind has continued to grow in popularity across the worldwide professional tours and is the lob wedge of choice for many of the game’s best players including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith, Will Zalatoris and Cameron Young. Nine different events during the 2021-2022 PGA TOUR season were won by players with a T Grind lob wedge in the bag, including Smith’s victory at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews. That week at the Old Course, the T Grind was so popular that Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill ran out of heads on the Titleist Tour Van.

“The ‘T’ is a very versatile sole,” Aaron Dill said. “It is low bounce and it frees the golfer up to get under the ball easily when the turf feels firm, or where they are short-sided. The last thing you want in those situations is a grind that you don’t feel can help you pull off those shots. That is when the T Grind frees you up to hit those more difficult shots that require that loft.”

SM9 TECHNOLOGY

Ultimate in shot versatility:  Vokey SM9 wedges provide the ultimate in shot versatility through seven tour-proven grinds – F, S, M, K, L, D and T. Finding the right grind to match your swing and playing conditions will give you the best turf interaction, contact and shot performance.

Progressive Center of Gravity for precise distance & trajectory control: The CG has been raised vertically by adding weight to the topline design, where a tapered pad at the back of the toe helps align the CG properly without being visible from the playing position – promoting a more controlled ball flight and solid contact.

New patented Spin Milled process for maximum spin: A new Spin Milled cutting process in the SM9 models – which includes tightening our allowable tolerances – produces consistently sharper grooves wedge after wedge, resulting in higher, more consistent spin.

VOKEY WEDGE SELECTOR

The Vokey Wedge Selector tool on Vokey.com helps golfers select the proper loft, bounce and grind options for their swing and course conditions. Vokey recommends that golfers visit their local Titleist fitter to confirm the results. Experience the Vokey Wedge Selector tool.

Titleist – New 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls provide longer distance, lower long game spin, and greater consistency

January 18, 2023 – The 2023 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x – the next generation of the most trusted golf balls in the game – set another standard for tee-to-green performance and consistency through advanced core technologies validated by the best players in the world.

Available in golf shops beginning January 25, new Pro V1 and Pro V1x are engineered with high-gradient core designs that deliver lower long game spin for increased distance and a more consistent flight – helping golfers hit the ball longer and straighter while maintaining the Drop-and-Stop greenside control that Pro V1 and Pro V1x players rely on to play their best.

The new high-gradient constructions feature progressive firmness levels that lower long game spin without sacrificing short game spin. High-gradient core technology, combined with the continued advancement of Titleist’s unparalleled manufacturing process, produces more consistent spin and speed performance for even tighter dispersion.

“We’re looking for consistency in every element of golf ball construction, from the aerodynamics down to the core,” said Mike Madson, Senior Director Golf Ball Research and Engineering.

“We always want the ball flying in the same window regardless of how it’s oriented, and we want the ball to produce consistent launch, spin, and speed on every shot. Consistency means when a golfer tees up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, every properly executed shot they make is going to deliver the performance they expect and the performance they trust.”

Along with these key innovations, Pro V1 and Pro V1x both remain true to their unique play styles:

Pro V1 offers the best combination of distance, spin, and feel in the game and delivers a penetrating ball flight.

Pro V1x is engineered to fly higher and spin more with irons and in the short game, while still offering low spin on longer shots to maximize distance.

“For a Titleist golf ball to be new, it must be better,” said Frederick Waddell, Director of Golf Ball Product Management.

“For us to call it a new Pro V1, it needs to be demonstrably better than the prior generation. We go through a rigorous testing and validation process to ensure the performance improvements developed by our world-class R&D team are recognized by the golfer when they put it in play and experience the product.”

2023 PRO V1 AND PRO V1x TECHNOLOGY

The most advanced iterations of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x yet, both golf balls feature significant innovations to improve on-course performance, including:

  • New High Gradient Core Design: An all-new, reimagined core in the new Pro V1 and the dual core Pro V1x are built to be firmer on the outside and progressively softer on the inside, which promotes fast speeds and low long game spin. The new cores take inspiration from popular CPOs (Custom Performance Options) – Pro V1 Left Dot and Pro V1x Left Dash – both of which feature high gradient cores and are the choice of several players on professional tours.
  • New Dual-Core Dimension: There has been a change in the 2023 Pro V1x dual core design, with the inner core increasing center volume by 44%, from 2.54 to 2.87cm in size. This works in concert with the high gradient, as the larger and softer center helps to drive down long game spin and increase stability through the air.
  • Speed Amplifying High-Flex Casing Layer: Casing layers on both the Pro V1 and Pro V1x interact with the high gradient cores to further neutralize excess spin while combining with the soft cast urethane cover to provide unparalleled greenside spin and control.
  • Cast Thermoset Urethane Cover: The urethane covers on the Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls utilize a proprietary thermoset process. Two separate components are mixed, and the liquid urethane is cast into Titleist- manufactured cavities which form the appropriate dimple pattern into the cover. The precise timing of the curing process and temperature are integral to the consistency of the urethane and the performance the golfer experiences on the course.
  • Spherically-tiled Tetrahedral Dimple Designs: With a 388-dimple design on the Pro V1 and a 348-dimple design on Pro V1x, both golf balls have optimized aerodynamics to fly consistent and far. The Pro V1x’s dimple pattern allows the ball to launch and fly in a slightly higher window than the Pro V1.

CHOOSING BETWEEN PRO V1 AND PRO V1x

Pro V1 is the best ball for players seeking very low long game spin, more distance, penetrating and consistent flight, and Drop-and-Stop greenside control, all of which complements Pro V1’s very soft feel.

Pro V1x is the best choice for golfers seeking higher flight and more spin, with a slightly firmer feel compared to Pro V1.

  • Colors and play numbers: White golf balls are available with play numbers 1-4, 5-8, and all the same play numbers 00 or 1-99. High optic yellow golf balls are available with play numbers 1-4.
  • Availability: The new 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will be available in golf shops globally beginning Jan. 25, 2023. Available in white (play numbers 1-4, 5-8 and all the same play numbers 00 or 1-99) and high optic yellow (play numbers 1-4).
  • RRP: Pro V1, 64,99€; Pro V1x: 64,99€.

DRIVERS GUIDE 2018 – Choose your driver according to ‘your attitude to the game’

March 26, 2018 – Ready for the new season? Take a look at the new 2018 drivers that have just arrived in the golf shops, packed with breakthrough technological advances designed to help you, in amazing ways, to get your best score. Which one should you choose?

Until recently it was relatively easy to distinguish between customizable drivers and distance drivers, but now each brand offers adjustability in their models in both categories, and we could say that with a similar playability and performance in terms of low spin, forgiveness, ball speed and distance, it is difficult to distinguish for the amateur player. Therefore, it is not so much about your level of golf but more ‘your attitude to the game’: if you want to customize the driver to optimize the distance; or if you’d rather arrive, address and hit a good shot; or if you’d prefer to enjoy a premium high end driver.

Anyway, the best option is to have a personalized fitting, with accredited professionals, in a trustworthy golf shop or pro shop, because one of these drivers is sure to take your game from the tee to the next level.

Titleist – The golf bag of Jordan Spieth, winner of The Masters 2015

Jordan-Spieth-Masters-2015-portada

April 14, 2015 – Trusting his Pro V1x golf ball and a full set of Titleist golf clubs, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth matched the lowest score in Masters history (previously set in 1997), en route to a wire-to-wire win for his first major championship.

The 21-year-old, who finished runner-up in his first Masters appearance last year, opened with an 8-under-par 64. He followed up with a 6-under-par 66 on Friday and closed with consecutive two-under par 70’s on the weekend to post a remarkable 18-under par 270 victory total.

Jordan-Spieth-Masters-2015

Jordan Spieth holed two crucial 6-foot putts coming down the stretch (for birdie on 15 and to save par on 16) that all but sealed the tournament, but as he explained in his post-victory press conference, he maintained his focus on the shot at hand until the very last.

“It didn’t creep into my mind that I had won the tournament until I hit that second shot on 18. And I said to Michael (Spieth’s caddie, Michael Greller) before we walked up to that chip, I said, ‘Mike, I think we just did it.’”, said Jordan Spieth at the end of the tournament.

So that was really, really cool to be able to walk up to the green with a few shots to spare and not worrying about anything and being able to enjoy that walk, soak it in.”

No player on the world-class leaderboard got closer than three shots of the lead after the first round, as Spieth became the first golfer since 1941 to accomplish such a feat.

Spieth equaled or eclipsed several Masters scoring records in the course of his historic performance, including:

  • Most birdies recorded in a single tournament (28)
  • Tied for lowest 72-hole score (18-under)
  • Lowest 54-hole score (16-under)
  • Lowest 36-hole score (14-under)
  • 1st wire-to-wire winner since 1976

The win was the second for Spieth this year, with the Valspar Championship, the third of his PGA Tour career, and his fifth worldwide. The win vaults him to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking, to which Spieth commented:

“The ultimate goal that I have mentioned I think each week is try to become the No. 1 player in the world. I don’t think I am with this. I think that I’m still behind, and so there’s still ‑‑ I’m still chasing that goal. It’s going to be very difficult, but to be a large step closer is huge.”

Once again, Titleist was the #1 ball at the Masters with more players trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x than all competitors combined.
