Roger Cleveland returns to the design process

Nearly 50 years after introducing the groundbreaking 588 Tour Action Wedge, Founder and Advisor Roger Cleveland returned to work alongside Cleveland Golf engineers and Tour players on the redesign of RTZ 2. Every sole grind was revisited, while every transition and turf interaction refined. The result is a lineup that feels familiar to longtime Cleveland Golf players while offering more versatility and performance than ever before.

One of the key additions to RTZ 2 Wedges is the return of the iconic 588 Grind. Reintroduced under Roger Cleveland’s direction, this signature grind revives the timeless sole design that helped define a generation of wedges. Ideal for moderate to shallower swing types, it provides versatile turf interaction, confidence on full swings and pitch shots, and the shot-making versatility golfers rely on around the greens.

More ways to play the short game

RTZ 2 wedges feature five distinct sole grinds designed to suit a wide range of swing types, turf conditions and shot preferences, helping golfers find the ideal setup for their short game. The versatile MID Grind remains the go-to option for most golfers, while the FULL Grind provides added forgiveness and confidence from softer turf, the rough and bunkers.

Golfers who prefer firm conditions and maximum greenside creativity can turn to the LOW Grind, while the ADAPT Full-Face Grind opens the door to a wider range of open-face shots and short-game possibilities. RTZ 2 wedges are made from Cleveland Golf’s proprietary Z-Alloy material, a steel engineered exclusively for golf clubs and now in the second generation of Cleveland Golf blade wedges. Designed from the ground up, Z-Alloy delivers a softer feel at impact while also providing the strength and durability needed to maintain performance round after round.

That combination allows golfers to enjoy the responsive feel they want without sacrificing long-term consistency. Combined with Cleveland Golf’s HydraZip face technology, UltiZip grooves, and Rotex Milling, RTZ 2 wedges deliver the spin, control, and stopping power golfers expect when they are in scoring range.

July 14, 2025 – Srixon staffer Grace Kim is officially a Major champion. The 24-year-old Australian surged to victory at The Amundi Evian Championship in dramatic fashion, capturing her first major title with a full bag of Srixon and Cleveland Golf equipment.

Entering the final stretch of regulation, Kim climbed the leaderboard with a remarkable 4-under run over her last four holes, capped by a pivotal eagle on the 18th hole, where she stuffed her approach to just a foot to force a playoff.

Displaying full confidence in her equipment, Kim delivered under pressure. After a wayward approach found the water on the first playoff hole, she relied on her Cleveland Golf RTZ Wedge to chip in for an improbable birdie. On the following hole, she used her trusted Srixon ZXi 4-Hybrid to hit a pinpoint approach, setting up a 20-foot eagle putt, which she confidently rolled in to claim the title.

“The three holes I hit the same club — the 4-Hybrid, so I guess that will be staying around for a while. I don’t think I’ve shot as well as I have this week, ever”, said Grace Kim, Srixon Staffer.

Srixon – Unmatched grit, major glory: J.J. Spaun conquers 2025 U.S. Open with ZX7 Irons and Z-STAR Diamond ball

June 16, 2025 – With unwavering resilience and poise, Srixon staffer J.J. Spaun delivered a major championship breakthrough at the 2025 U.S. Open, conquering the brutal test of Oakmont Country Club to claim his first major championship title.

The victory comes just months after Spaun’s close-call at The PLAYERS Championship – a near miss that tested his resolve but was important for his confidence moving forward. Despite mounting championship pressure and tough elements all day, Spaun remained calm after a shaky start that included a 5-over 40 to open his front nine. After an extended weather delay, Spaun started four back after the turn and hit the reset button. He would go on to fire an incredible 3-under 32, punctuated by a 64-foot birdie putt on the 18th green to finish the tournament at 1-under-par and two clear of the field.

“I never thought I would be here holding this trophy. I’ve always had aspirations and dreams, but like I said a few months ago, I never knew what my ceiling was. I never knew how good I could be, but I’m just proud I’ve been resilient in my career and pushed through a lot of things. Just trying to be the best golfer I can be, and I’m happy to be able to display that today at Oakmont,” said J.J. Spaun.

Spaun surged to an early lead with a historic front-nine 31 in Thursday’s opening round—the lowest ever recorded at Oakmont in U.S. Open history. That momentum carried through the week as he battled both the field and the course’s demands. Cleveland Golf – New Frontline Elite Putters with one-of-a-kind Tungsten face

January 24, 2023 – The all-new Frontline Elite Putter line from Cleveland Golf features eight carefully crafted models with improved forward weighting and face technology, all designed to help golfers hit straighter putts with consistent speed and distance. The Frontline Elite Putters are launching on the 3rd of March 2023.

Frontline Elite Putters were carefully designed to reduce adverse effects of off-center strikes and help players sink more putts, regardless of stroke type.

“For the Frontline Elite Putter, we used more than 30g of metal injection molded tungsten across the striking area to move weight as far forward as possible,” said Joe Miller, Product Manager at Cleveland Golf Europe

“In a forward-weighted putter design, face rotation is significantly reduced on off center strikes. So, even if you miss-hit your putt, your ball will stay more on-line, head toward the hole as intended, and at the desired speed for more scoring chances.”

After computer simulation/calculations comparing forward-weighted Frontline Elite against rear-weighted competitors, the results revealed 38% improved accuracy when struck off-center.

Each putter in the Frontline Elite lineup includes Speed Optimized Face Technology (SOFT). Its individualized groove patterns, specific to each putter shape, balance energy transfer across an enlarged striking area, normalizing ball speeds and helping miss-hits travel a similar distance to perfectly struck putts.

Frontline Elite also features counterbalance weights beneath each putter grip and sole weights in each head. This weighting approach is intended to help maintain a consistent swing feel. January 18, 2023 –  Cleveland Golf, an industry leader in wedge design and innovation, announces the release of the all-new CBX Full-Face 2 wedge. The CBX Full-Face 2 is scheduled to launch in Europe on the 15th of March 2023.

The CBX Full-Face 2 is designed to be more forgiving with a larger face, along with added HydraZip, ZipCore and UltiZip technologies. It is a wedge built for golfers looking for the right balance of forgiveness and versatility to unleash their greenside creativity.

January 9, 2023 – Cleveland Golf has announced the release of the RTX 6 ZipCore Wedge, that is scheduled to launch in Europe on the 17th March 2023.

The RTX 6 ZipCore wedge is a short-game weapon uniquely designed to consistently hit high-spin shots no matter the lie. By combining the new HydraZip face, UltiZip grooves, and upgraded ZipCore technologies, players can enjoy controlled spin from any lie. Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama are now two of its flag bearers on Tour.

“The RTX 6 ZipCore wedge may have the classic look on the outside, but inside it’s packed with three technological breakthroughs that give the advantage to the golfer and not the conditions,” says Joe Miller, product expert at Cleveland Golf Europe.

How was so much spin packed into one wedge? It all starts with HydraZip. A technology that uses dynamic face blasts and laser lines to maximize friction for improved spin consistency in dry and wet conditions. R&D testing showed 43% more spin in wet conditions with the RTX 6 ZipCore than the previous generation.

Just as crucial as spin in wet or dry conditions is consistency. ZipCore, a unique, low-density core is designed to expand the sweet spot and upgrade MOI for ultimate forgiveness, while pushing the Center of Gravity (CG) directly behind the impact zone, helping players find more consistent performance. Meanwhile, by adding High/Low and Heel/Toe MOI into every loft in the line, golfers can benefit from increased spin, distance, and control.

The RTX 6 ZipCore features UltiZip technology, assisting golfers in cutting through debris more consistently. These grooves are sharper, deeper, and tightly spaced for enhanced spin, control, and consistency.

“All the work put into this wedge, we really focused on finding the perfect balance of versatility and consistency,” Joe Miller said.

“UltiZip is a notable example. Without grooves you don’t have a wedge, so we equipped the RTX 6 ZipCore with our sharpest groove radii ever, imparting more spin and control, and now golfers won’t have to worry how their wedge is going to react in certain conditions, they’ll know.”

The RTX 6 ZipCore wedge has four different sole grinds with a variety of lofts that are developed for greenside creativity. LOW, MID, and FULL grind options are all available, but new for 2023 is the LOW+ grind featured on sand wedge lofts. This option offers two degrees more bounce in a C-Shaped sole, creating an extra bounce in bunkers.
