February 16, 2015 – For nearly 15 years, the exceptional distance, superior scoring performance and unmatched consistency of Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls have been making a difference in the games of golfers around the world, from tour professionals to amateurs of all skill levels and swing speeds.

It was in October 2000 that the original Pro V1 prototype first appeared on the PGA Tour at the Invensys Classic in Las Vegas. Forty-seven players put the ball in play that week, marking one of the largest pluralistic shifts of equipment at one event in golf history. In March 2001, just four months after launching to golf shops, Titleist Pro V1 became the best-selling golf ball in the marketplace.

“The launch of Pro V1 was especially significant in that for the very first time the best performing golf ball for tour players was also the best performing golf ball for all golfers,” said Mary Lou Bohn, Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball Marketing and Communications. “You no longer had to choose between distance over short-game control, or durability over soft feel. There were no trade-offs. Pro V1 delivered total performance.”

Pro V1 and Pro V1x (which launched in 2003) have been the most played golf balls at every level of competitive golf and the best-selling models around the world ever since. That’s because the Titleist Golf Ball R&D and Operations teams, with lots of years of golf ball-making expertise, have worked every day to make the #1 ball in golf even better with each new generation.

The new 2015 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x models are the result of a continuous process rooted in rigorous research and development, technological advancements, comprehensive player testing and validation, and precision manufacturing.

Designed for all golfers seeking to shoot lower scores, 2015 Pro V1 and Pro V1x deliver exceptional distance with consistent flight, more short game control and even softer feel from a new, patented urethane elastomer cover formulation, and long lasting durability.

Comparatively, Pro V1 has a softer feel, slightly more long game spin and a penetrating trajectory for a shallower angle of descent for more roll. Pro V1x offers a slightly firmer feel, lower long game spin and launches higher with a steeper angle of descent.

The total performance of Pro V1 and Pro V1x tee-through-green – providing the best combination of distance, flight, short-game scoring control and feel – makes them a great fit for any golfer.

“Golfers often ask us what sets Pro V1 and Pro V1x apart from other golf balls. You can’t just point to one or two things. The difference is everything,” said Bill Morgan, Senior Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball R&D.

“We have more people with more experience of designing and making golf balls, the largest intellectual property portfolio and the most sophisticated precision manufacturing processes. The 2015 Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the culmination of all that knowledge and all of that technology. The original Pro V1 was revolutionary, no question, but we’ve learned a lot in the last 15 years and these new Pro V1 models are the best we’ve ever made.”

The Titleist Golf Ball R&D team, driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, is made up of chemists, physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers and technicians, as well as PGA Professionals and turf management specialists. Due to their work, Titleist owns the industry’s largest portfolio of golf ball intellectual property with more than 1,000 patents. There are more than 100 patents that cover the technologies and manufacturing processes for 2015 Pro V1 and Pro V1x combined.

Eighty years after the first Titleist golf ball was produced, the Titleist Operations team is comprised of over 1,100 associates with an average tenure of 20 years. These associates manufacture every Titleist golf ball to exacting standards in Titleist owned and operated facilities – there are about 90 process and product quality checks for Pro V1; about 120 for the dual-core Pro V1x – assuring that every golf ball performs consistently for every golfer, every round and on every type of shot.

Before being introduced to the market, new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls are tested and validated by golfers at every level of the game, from the world’s best tour players to amateurs of all skill levels and swing speeds. Since 2015 Pro V1 and Pro V1x were first introduced on the PGA Tour in October, more than 100 players have put the new models in play around the world – including Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson and Charley Hoffman also trusted 2015 Pro V1x to victories soon after the new models were introduced on the worldwide tours.

Titleist – Introduction of new Scotty Cameron Futura X5 and X5R putters

Scotty-Cameron-Futura-X5

October 26, 2014 – The new Scotty Cameron Futura X5 putters combine a multi-material construction with a modern, wing back design to provide high-MOI performance in a refined shape.

For more than a decade, Master Craftsman Scotty Cameron’s Futura putter designs have delivered performance and stability. The new Scotty Cameron Futura X5 and X5R models provide stability through advanced perimeter weighting with solid, forgiving feel, and vertical and horizontal sightlines for easier alignment. The X5 model is angled in the back, while the X5R features a rounded shape. The Matador Red Midsize grip matches well with the face-balanced mallet design for those players looking to execute a more square-to-square stroke.

“The Futura X5 mallet is for someone who likes the stability of a bigger head, the feel of a bigger grip, and likes to look down and see more lines for alignment purposes. X5 is more of a mechanical shape where the X5R is a softer, rounder shape. There’s no right or wrong; same performance, same weight, same feel. It all depends on what you like to look at,” Scotty Cameron said.

“We’re finding that mallets make up as much as 50 percent of the putters used on the PGA Tour each week – and for good reason. The size of the head is larger so it looks and feels more stable on the ground. The bigger the head, the more lines you can add for alignment. We worked with many players on tour and in the Putter Studio during the development of X5 and they all told us the same thing: It adds confidence.”

In addition, the new Scotty Cameron Futura X5 Dual Balance (DB) putter combines the X5 head style with Dual Balance technology to provide maximum stability for golfers who struggle to make a consistent stroke with a conventional length putter. Like all Dual Balance models, Futura X5 DB has a 50-gram heavier head (400 grams total) and a 50-gram counterweight in the butt of the shaft. This configuration helps many players to make a proper stroke where the butt of the shaft remains pointed at the midsection. Dual Balance putters have a standard length of 38 inches with a 15-inch grip that allows the player to grip down below the counterweight for a more stable stroke.

Futura X5 putters are available worldwide beginning 31st October through Titleist authorised golf shops. Futura X5 and X5R carry a RRP of £278. Futura X5 Dual Balance has a RRP of £315.

All Square Golf – Titleist, top brand at European Amateur Championship

Material-Amateurs-All-Square

September 22, 2014 – Titleist was the most played golf equipment brand at the International European Amateur Championship, played in early August, according to All Square Golf, the social network for golfers and event sponsor.

The list was compiled from the 61 leading amateurs who made the cut in the event at The Duke’s Golf Club, St Andrews (Scotland), using the information from the ‘What’s in my bag’ section of their All Square profiles.

Each player has their own personal profile on All Square where they can tag and review courses they’ve played, upload photos and videos of their swing for peer review and interact with friends and other golfers.

The survey, covering Driver, Woods, Hybrids, Irons, Wedges, Putter and Ball, revealed Titleist to be the most popular manufacturer overall with 77% of the field putting the brand in play in at least one of these categories.

Without taking into account the brand of golf ball used, where Titleist dominates with 75%, the brand remains the most popular with 64% putting the manufacturer’s clubs in play – its nearest competitors were TaylorMade (28%), Ping (20%) and Callaway (16%).

In the Driver category, Titleist topped the list on 36% with TaylorMade second on 23%. Ping and Callaway were third and fourth, being used by 16% and 15% respectively.

Nearly 50% of the players surveyed used Titleist irons and Ping was the second most-used brand in the category on 15%, while Callaway was third on 12%.

Titleist was number one in each category; however, Odyssey came closest of all the other brands to knocking it from its perch with 31% of the Putter category compared with Titleist’s 38%.

Arthur de Rivoire, All Square co-founder, said: “Most golfers naturally have an interest in the equipment other players are using, what’s new and how they might improve their game by changing what they currently play with. All Square is like a digital clubhouse where golfers can share experiences of courses and equipment online with friends and like-minded individuals.”
