April 14, 2015 – Trusting his Pro V1x golf ball and a full set of Titleist golf clubs, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth matched the lowest score in Masters history (previously set in 1997), en route to a wire-to-wire win for his first major championship.

The 21-year-old, who finished runner-up in his first Masters appearance last year, opened with an 8-under-par 64. He followed up with a 6-under-par 66 on Friday and closed with consecutive two-under par 70’s on the weekend to post a remarkable 18-under par 270 victory total.

Jordan Spieth holed two crucial 6-foot putts coming down the stretch (for birdie on 15 and to save par on 16) that all but sealed the tournament, but as he explained in his post-victory press conference, he maintained his focus on the shot at hand until the very last.

“It didn’t creep into my mind that I had won the tournament until I hit that second shot on 18. And I said to Michael (Spieth’s caddie, Michael Greller) before we walked up to that chip, I said, ‘Mike, I think we just did it.’”, said Jordan Spieth at the end of the tournament.

So that was really, really cool to be able to walk up to the green with a few shots to spare and not worrying about anything and being able to enjoy that walk, soak it in.” 

No player on the world-class leaderboard got closer than three shots of the lead after the first round, as Spieth became the first golfer since 1941 to accomplish such a feat.

Spieth equaled or eclipsed several Masters scoring records in the course of his historic performance, including:

• Most birdies recorded in a single tournament (28)
• Tied for lowest 72-hole score (18-under)
• Lowest 54-hole score (16-under)
• Lowest 36-hole score (14-under)
• 1st wire-to-wire winner since 1976

The win was the second for Spieth this year, with the Valspar Championship, the third of his PGA Tour career, and his fifth worldwide. The win vaults him to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking, to which Spieth commented:

“The ultimate goal that I have mentioned I think each week is try to become the No. 1 player in the world. I don’t think I am with this. I think that I’m still behind, and so there’s still ‑‑ I’m still chasing that goal. It’s going to be very difficult, but to be a large step closer is huge.”

Once again, Titleist was the #1 ball at the Masters with more players trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x than all competitors combined.
