LET – Extension of the partnership with Titleist as official golf ball of the Ladies European Tour

December 18, 2023 – The Ladies European Tour (LET) has today announced the renewal of its partnership with Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, for a further three years.

Titleist became the LET’s Official Golf Ball Partner at the start of the 2021 season for a three-year period, having established the relationship in 2020 when it supplied Pro V1 golf balls for the LET’s return to play.

The deal sees Titleist continue to provide its market leading Pro V1 golf balls to practice on ranges for LET players across all tournaments on the LET schedule, as well as both organisations developing on-site activations and working together to create digital campaigns.

As part of the LET and Titleist’s commitment to women’s golf and in the spirit of the LET’s mantra, #RaiseOurGame, the tournament’s market leading Pro V1 golf balls used on the practice range will be donated to good causes such as local junior golf programmes, National Golf Federations or direct to the host venue.

This is a key part of the partnership which shows the two brands supporting the ongoing development of new talent across the world and means each tournament leaves a lasting legacy in the region it takes place.

Since its first golf ball was made in 1935, Titleist has been dedicated to making the best performing, most consistent and highest quality product in the game – helping golfers at all levels to play their best, shoot their lowest scores and ultimately enjoy the game.

The Titleist Pro V1 is the most successful piece of equipment in the sport’s history and since its introduction in 2000, it has been the overwhelming ball of choice across the worldwide professional tours – including the LET – and equally successful with amateur golfers.

Fiona Harold, Commercial Director at the LET, said: “Since welcoming Titleist to the LET family as an Official Partner in 2021, our relationship has gone from strength to strength.

Titleist is committed to supporting the women’s game on all levels and we’re delighted to continue working with such a prestigious brand that is hugely important to the tour and our members.

We look forward to our ongoing partnership as we continue to ‘Raise Our Game’ across the world, providing the number one ball in golf to our members and leaving a legacy at every tournament on our schedule.”

“We are proud to partner with the LET for the next three years and see this is a great fit for our respective organisations,” said Matthew Johnson, General Manager – UK Region, Acushnet Europe.

“Titleist has supported LET players for many years and the extension of this partnership will give the players the opportunity to practice as well as play with the #1 ball in golf.

“At the core of the Titleist business is improving the accessibility of our products and services for any dedicated golfer.

“This association will provide opportunities to support local community programmes and collaborate on many more great initiatives in helping raise the awareness, interest and participation in women’s golf – something we have also pledged as signatories of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter.”

LET – 2022 Race to Costa del Sol kicks off next week with the Magical Kenya Ladies Open

February 2, 2022 – A new Ladies European Tour (LET) season is upon us with the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, which is taking place at Vipingo Ridge next week, marking the start of the 2022 Race to Costa del Sol.

The Race to Costa del Sol, which is the official LET ranking, offers a €250,000 bonus pool to the top three finishers. The Race begins in Kenya with the first of 31 LET tournaments spanning 21 countries in a record-breaking 2022 LET schedule and concludes with the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España in Spain in late November.

Last season, Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul won the second edition of the Race following in the footsteps of Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen. In what was a remarkable first season on Tour, the 18-year-old won two titles and only finished outside the top six in individual events on three occasions to become the youngest winner of the accolade.

Thitikul won the crown by a margin of 1,638.07 points and became the fourth player to win both the Race to Costa del Sol and Rookie of the Year titles in the same season, while the teenager also climbed up to No. 18 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

The 2022 season gets underway at Vipingo Ridge in Kenya before a few weeks later heading to Royal Greens for the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by Public Investment Fund. The Tour then has two weeks in South Africa with the Joburg Ladies Open followed by the Investec South African Women’s Open.

After that, the LET heads down under for the first time since 2020 with the Australian Women’s Classic – Bonville and Women’s NSW Open. A return to Europe then happens with the Madrid Ladies Open, Jabra Ladies Open, the Mithra Belgian Ladies Open and the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika.

The Aramco Team Series is back again in 2022 with five events on the schedule in Asia, London, Sotogrande, New York and Jeddah. Heading into the summer, the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open and Big Green Egg Open will take place before the Amundi Evian Championship.

Golf is back on the shores on the UK with the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, the AIG Women’s Open and ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf. While Sweden hosts another event with the Skafto Open before the Tour heads to Finland for the Aland 100 Ladies Open By Alandsbanken.

Switzerland is next in the schedule followed by the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, the return of the Women’s Irish Open and the Estrella Damm Ladies Open Presented by Catalunya. After a trip across the Atlantic for the Aramco Team Series – New York, the Tour will head to Asia for the Hero Women’s Indian Open, the Dubai Moonlight Classic, and Aramco Team Series – Jeddah.

The 2022 season will once again culminate in Europe at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España in Spain in late November. The prestigious tournament will be the perfect end to the Race to Costa del Sol, which will see the winner of the season-long competition crowned and lift the specially designed Race to Costa del Sol trophy.

The president of Turismo Costa del Sol, Francisco Salado, has emphasised how proud his organisation is to be part of the Ladies European Tour for another year, stressing the opportunity that the Race to Costa del Sol represents for this tourist destination. He said: “Giving the name to the annual ranking and to continue another year linked to the Ladies European Tour is a source of pride for the entire Costa del Sol, as we are raising our tourist destination to the highest category of European and world golf. Our involvement in the Race to Costa del Sol demonstrates this organisation’s firm commitment to golf, which provides so many benefits to our destination, and specifically to women’s golf. Our courses are in peak condition thanks to the effort and great work of the professionals who work on them.”

LET CEO Alexandra Armas commented: “We can’t wait for the 2022 season to get underway in Kenya and to see who will be crowned the third winner of the Race to Costa del Sol. Last season, Atthaya Thitikul was a deserving winner of the title with her unbelievably consistent performances across the whole season. Atthaya also showed what is possible by playing on the LET as she climbed to No. 18 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. I would like to thank the Costa del Sol Tourist Board for their unwavering support over the past couple of years and we are looking forward to the season ahead.”

LET – The 2021 Race to Costa del Sol returns next week in South Africa

May 6, 2021 – A new Ladies European Tour (LET) season gets underway next week with the Investec South African Women’s Open at Westlake Golf Club, the first event on the 2021 Race to Costa del Sol.

The Race to Costa del Sol, which is the official LET ranking, offers a €250,000 bonus pool to the top three finishers. The Race begins in South Africa with the first of 28 LET tournaments spanning 20 countries in a record-breaking 2021 LET schedule and concludes with the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España in Spain in late November.

Last season’s inaugural Race was won by Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen, who clinched the crown by an 834-point margin. Five wins, a further three top-ten finishes and a career-best major showing at the AIG Women’s Open (11th) from 12 starts proved Pedersen was in a league of her own during 2020.

She became only the second Danish golfer to top the money list on any major international tour, following six-time LET winner Iben Tinning, who won the Order of Merit back in 2005. With her remarkable form, Pedersen also climbed up the Rolex Rankings coming back from as low as 509 at the start of the year to breaking into the top 100 for the first time in her career.

After the 2021 season has started in South Africa, the main European leg of the schedule begins with the Ladies Italian Open at Golf Club Margara, before the Jabra Ladies Open at Evian Resort Golf Club at the start of June.

Following on from that is the innovative Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika at Vallda Golf and Country Club in Sweden where European Tour and LET members will go head-to-head for the first time on the same course, competing for one prize fund and one trophy. After a week off the next stop is the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in Golf Club Beroun with the Big Green Egg Open at Rosendaelsche Golf Club in the Netherlands following on.

The players will remain in Europe in July with the first Aramco Team Series event happening in London and then after that, they will make a trip to the Gant Ladies Open at Aura Golf in Finland. This is followed by The Amundi Evian Championship, which has been played as the fifth major since 2013 and returns to the calendar for 2021.

Another pioneering event, the ISPS HANDA World Invitational Presented by Modest! Golf takes place at Galgorm Castle and Massereene Golf Club in Northern Ireland at the end of July. While the Tokyo 2020 women’s Olympic Golf Competition is happening the week after that in early August.

Golf returns to the UK with a fortnight in Scotland as the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open heads to Dumbarnie Links before Carnoustie hosts the final major of the year – the AIG Women’s Open. Back-to-back tournaments are scheduled for Sweden next with the Skaftö Open and Creekhouse Ladies Open, while the Solheim Cup will be played at Inverness Club in Ohio, USA.

The VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open at Golfpark Holzhäusern follows that, and the Lacoste Ladies Open de France is scheduled for mid-September. After everyone catches their breath with a week off, the season resumes at the Hero Women’s Indian Open at DLF Golf and Country Club. The second Aramco Team Series event is up next with Singapore playing host before heading to the Magical Kenya Ladies Open at Vipingo Ridge. While the third Aramco Team Series event in New York will also be slotted in the schedule during this time, as will the Mediterranean Ladies Open which is due to take place at Club de Golf Terramar.

The final leg of the schedule sees the Tour visit Morocco for the Lalla Meryem Cup, which is followed by the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic at Emirates Golf Club – Faldo Course. Two events in Saudi Arabia are up next with the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by Public Investment Fund before the final Aramco Team Series event in Jeddah.

For the season finale, the LET returns to Europe and will visit Los Naranjos Golf Club for the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España. The prestigious tournament will be the perfect end to the Race to Costa del Sol, which will see the winner of the season-long competition crowned and lift the specially designed Race to Costa del Sol trophy.

The president of Turismo Costa del Sol, Francisco Salado, expressed the organisation’s great pride to be part once again of this new stage in the history of the Ladies European Tour, while noting the opportunity that the Race to Costa del Sol represents for the destination. He said: “This news is a breath of fresh air in the midst of this situation we are going through, and we are proud to be able to show once more that the Costa del Sol is safe and is ready to host events of this magnitude. Our involvement in the Race to Costa del Sol demonstrates this organisation’s firm commitment to golf, which provides so many benefits to our destination, and specifically to women’s golf. Our courses are in peak condition thanks to the effort and great work of the professionals who work on them.”

LET CEO Alexandra Armas commented: “We are excited for the 2021 season to get underway in South Africa and to see who will be crowned the winner of the second edition of the Race to Costa del Sol. Last season Emily was a deserving winner of the inaugural title, thanks to her consistent performances throughout the year and her hard work was rewarded when she triumphed and claimed the crown. I would like to thank the Costa del Sol Tourist Board for their unwavering support over the past year and we are looking forward to the season ahead.”

Galvin Green – Amy Boulden renews her clothing deal for 2021 season

November 12, 2020 – Amy Boulden, who won her maiden Ladies European Tour title at the Swiss Ladies Open in September, has renewed her contract with leading apparel brand Galvin Green for the 2021 season.

The popular Welsh golfer became a Team Galvin Green player two years ago to wear brand’s high-performance technical clothing and has seen her form improve markedly since then. In addition to her emphatic victory in Switzerland, Amy also wore her Galvin Green wardrobe when regaining her LET card with a final stage victory at Q-school in La Manga, southern Spain last January.

“Wearing Galvin Green outfits like the highly breathable VENTIL8 Plus shirts and skorts has made a real difference to my game and confidence,” said Amy Boulden. “I love playing in warmer climates and knowing that I won’t ever get uncomfortable out on the course played a big factor in my recent success, especially when I got into contention for my first Tour title in the warm Alpine conditions.

“That’s why I’m thrilled to renew my association with such an innovative brand as Galvin Green that provides clothing to give you the ‘feel good’ factor whatever weather you face,” she added.

Marketing Manager Annelie Backgård Ginstman commented: “Amy is an amazing brand ambassador for the Galvin Green women’s collection and we’re delighted to see her profile grow after winning her first Tour title. We hope it acts as a springboard for more top finishes during the new season.”

Amy’s current favourite outfit when playing in hot or humid conditions is the stylish combination of a MURIEL shirt and NIKKI skort (pictured in the high temperatures of Saudi Arabia).

The sporty MURIEL shirt has exceptional breathability and Quickdry comfort. Made from VENTIL8 Plus stretch fabric, it also offers UV protection of 20+. The same degree of breathability and stretch fabric benefits are found with the NIKKI skort that incorporates inner shorts. Without any visible seams, the skort also features distinctive piping details on the front pockets.

As the leading premium golf apparel brand that looks to deliver stellar performance from every garment, Galvin Green turned to the galaxy for inspiration for its current range that incorporates Amy’s choice of garments on Tour. Bluesign approved fabrics ensure sustainability across much of the collection, that also features a new eco-generation of INSULA tops including a women’s golf hoodie (DIANE) made 100% from recycled plastic bottles.

The latest women’s collection includes GORE-TEX waterproof jackets and pants in stretch fabric, a wide choice of sweaters, long and short sleeved shirts, ankle length pants, skorts and shorts, thermal vests and leggings, plus matching accessories, including hats with thermal insulation and snoods.

Solheim Cup – Spain will host the 2023 Solheim Cup at the world-renowned championship course at Finca Cortesin

October 13, 2023 – The Ladies European Tour announced today Spain will host the 2023 Solheim Cup at the world-renowned championship course at Finca Cortesin, Andalucía, with the exact tournament dates to be finalised soon.

Set to host the prestigious international women’s professional golf team event for the first time in the tournament’s history, Spain is no stranger to staging high-profile golf events with a rich history in both the men’s and women’s game, hosting the Ryder Cup in 1997 and staging 75 events on the LET and LETAS calendar including the season’s order of merit – The Race to Costa Del Sol.

Following in the footsteps of Scotland as the most recent destination to host the memorable match-play competition on European soil in 2019 and Toledo, Ohio, who will stage the upcoming 2021 contest, Spain becomes the sixth European nation to play host to the greatest team event in women’s golf following previous countries including; Wales, Sweden, Ireland and Germany.

Located in the heart of the Costa del Sol in Andalucía, Finca Cortesin is world-renowned as an elite golfing destination, previously staging three Volvo World Match Play Championship’s as well as regularly featuring in the top five list of ‘best courses’ in Spain by Golf World and Golf Digest magazines. It also recently enjoyed a comprehensive upgrade of all putting surfaces in 2017 and is known for its excellent condition of the fairways and greens and challenging course design, an ideal supplement to its attractive landscaping.

Speaking about the news, Ladies European Tour CEO, Alexandra Armas, said: “We are delighted to announce Spain as the host nation for the 2023 Solheim Cup when it returns to European soil for the 18th edition of this major international team golf event. Spain is a passionate golfing nation with knowledgeable fans and a history of developing generations of talented golfers while Andalucía’s strong cultural heritage will make for a unique experience for players, guests and supporters alike. The tournament will not only enhance the country’s reputation as an elite golfing nation but the Costa del Sol as a must-visit destination, which will help to inspire the next generation of children to take up the game.”

Spanish golfers have played an integral part of the tournament since the inaugural event was held in 1990, with as many as seven players representing Team Europe over the years – with only Sweden and England contributing more players to previous Solheim Cups.  More recently, home favourite Carlota Ciganda has participated in the last four consecutive contests while Costa del Sol star Azahara Muñoz also has four appearances to her name since making her debut in 2011.

Costa del Sol are joining the Global Partner family for the 2023 event, alongside PING and Rolex who are long-standing supporters of the Solheim Cup. Deporte & Business will stage the event, working alongside the Ladies European Tour to deliver all aspects of the tournament.

Deporte & Business General Manager, Íñigo Aramburu, said: “It’s an honour getting the Solheim Cup for Spain. Undoubtedly, a good understanding among all the institutions involved was a key factor. Andalucía, Costa del Sol, Acosol, the Marbella City Council, the Benahavís City Council and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation went hand in hand to achieve a milestone that will promote quality tourism in Andalucía, and that will highlight the Costa del Sol as an unbeatable destination for women’s golf. I would like to thank the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour for the trust they placed in the Spanish bid.”

“I can assure you we will try to host the best and most fun Solheim Cup in history. The Costa del Sol is a unique destination in the world and thanks to this event everybody will see it. I would also like to emphasize that the Solheim Cup venue, Finca Cortesin, is one of the best in Europe and its hotel has been ranked first in Spain and Portugal, so the teams will enjoy a world class hospitality in a spectacular setting.”

The upcoming 2021 Solheim Cup will be staged in Toledo, Ohio, 4th-6th September, with Team USA aiming to reclaim the trophy from Team Europe, who captured the 2019 edition with a spectacular putt on the last green in the final match of the singles.

The Solheim Cup was first staged in Florida in 1990 and named after club manufacturer Karsten Solheim, who was the driving force behind its inception. The Solheim Cup is contested between two teams of 12 players over three days. It follows the same format as The Ryder Cup, with 28 matches – eight foursomes and eight fourballs over the first two days and 12 singles on the final day.

LET – Teen star Atthaya Thitikul wins second Ladies European Thailand Championship with Honma Golf clubs

June 24, 2019 – Thai amateur star Atthaya Thitikul has won the Ladies European Thailand Championship for the second time in three years and she has done so with a Honma Golf staff bag.

The 16-year-old finished with a five-under-par 67 on a weather-interrupted final day to win by five shots from Esther Henseleit. Thitikul’s triumph at Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club two years ago, aged 14 years four months and three days, made her the youngest known winner of a professional golf tournament.

She backed up that success with a phenomenal performance at the same venue, posting rounds of 69, 67, 63 (a course record) and 67 for a winning total of 266, 22-under-par, as a consequence of 1 eagle, 24 birdies, 43 pars and 4 bogies, to sum up the event. In her bag by the luxury Japanese brand Honma Golf, she was accompanied by the Tour World TW737 fairway woods, the Tour World TW737 Vs irons and the Tour World TW W4 wedges. She has exceptional stats of 84,72% Greens in Regulation average, dominating the game perfectly with her irons and wedges, and in the second and third rounds achieving an incredible 94,44% both days.

At 16 years, four months and three days, the No 5 ranked amateur in the world is the youngest player to win two Ladies European Tour titles and the most exciting prospect in women’s golf since Lydia Ko, who had won four professional titles by the same age.

“It feels unreal,” said Atthaya Thitikul, who was undistracted by a three-hour weather delay due to storms in the middle of her round. “I’m really pleased with all the things I’ve done in this tournament. The last time I had a bogey was in round two. I just put the ball where I wanted it. Since I won two years ago I’ve kept working hard and I’ve grown in confidence. Today I didn’t actually sing a song to myself, I was just talking with my caddie.”

German rookie Henseleit shot a final round of eight-under-par 64 and as Thitikul is still an amateur, she collected the winner’s cheque for 45,000 euros, moving to second on the LET order of merit although she said that she would have preferred a trophy.

Atthaya Thitikul’s second win in the tournament will renew the question of when she will turn professional, but with her second LET title, she will once again qualify for the Evian Championship and the AIG Women’s British Open, which means that European fans will get to see her perform in next month’s majors.

LET – Azahara Muñoz retains her Open de España Femenino title on home soil

September 24, 2017 – Local player Azahara Muñoz delighted the galleries as she retained her title at the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino at her home club Real Club de Golf Guadalmina in Spain on Sunday.

The 29-year-old from the nearby village of San Pedro Alcantara, who had been winning tournaments at the club since the age of nine, carded rounds of 68-64-67 and 69 to finish two strokes clear of Carlota Ciganda and Lee-Anne Pace and win on a total of 19-under-par, with former Ryder Cup player Miguel Angel Jimenez watching on.

Azahara said afterwards: “I couldn’t be any happier, defending my title on my home course and where I grew up. It’s been an amazing week and all the fans were here supporting me, so I’m happy I did it for them. I’ve been playing so well all week and today I didn’t play my best, especially on the back nine, but shooting an eight-under always helps. Today on the back nine, I made some amazing up and downs, so that was definitely the key.”

Muñoz began the final round tied for the lead with Ciganda and bogeyed the third hole, but quickly gained the outright lead when Ciganda double bogeyed the fourth. The home favourite then made three straight birdies from the fifth to gain a four-stroke lead, before carding a second bogey at the 12th.  She recovered a stroke at the long 14th, making a birdie putt of 30-feet and then made a final birdie on the par-5 17th.

The big move of the day came from the 2013 champion Pace, who eagled the last for a 67, before Ciganda also eagled the hole for a 71 and a share of second.

Georgia Hall slipped back into fourth place after two bogeys early in the round but she recovered with an eagle on the seventh and a birdie on the eighth. Another pair of bogeys on the 12th and 14th were followed by four birdies in her last five holes for a round of 69.

Hall said: “I had quite a poor weekend really and didn’t play that well, but fourth’s fourth. I wanted to try and win this week really and I putted quite well but I was in between clubs here and there. My putting has been good this week apart from yesterday but my pitching has been my weakness, so I’ll work on that for the next event.”

The conditions were fantastic all week with blue skies, sunshine and a slight breath of wind, but nothing to trouble the players.

At the begin of the week, Muñoz had promised to jump into the club’s pool if she won and she duly delivered, bombing into the pool after the prize giving ceremony.

Another Spanish player, Natalia Escuriola Martinez, ended in fifth position, followed by Meghan MacLaren in sixth. Suzann Pettersen, who has just overcome a back injury, tied for seventh position with Justine Dreher, Nicole Garcia, Camilla Lennarth and rising star Frida Kinhult.

LET – Azahara Muñoz and Carlota Ciganda ready lead on the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de España

September 23, 2017 – Carlota Ciganda and Azahara Muñoz thrilled the Spanish galleries as they fired matching third rounds of 67 to share the lead heading into the final round of the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina.

The former Solheim Cup partners started the day one stroke behind rising English star Georgia Hall, who was two strokes clear when she was unsettled by a double-bogey on the par-3 fifth hole, but they ended the day at 16-under-par and three strokes clear of Hall (71).

Although Hall was one clear after 10 holes, the Spanish duo rallied with five-under-par back nine totals, including three birdies to finish from Ciganda and an eagle on the last from Muñoz, the defending champion.

Carlota Ciganda said afterwards: “I started with a bogey on the first hole but I told myself to stay patient today. I know I can make birdies here, so just relax and try to hit fairways and greens. I had a birdie on nine and then I saw the tee was up on 12, so I made two good birdies on 11 and 12 and had three birdies to finish, so I’m very happy and excited for tomorrow. It’s great because lots of people were watching and I really enjoy playing here in Spain with Aza and lots of friends, family and kids. I think it’s really good for golf.”

Both Ciganda and Muñoz benefited from the support of the large and vociferous galleries but Muñoz also has the added advantage of playing at her home club.

She said after her round: “It was really fun going back and forth making birdies with Carlota. Finishing with an eagle at the end definitely puts a smile on my face and dinner is going to taste much tastier.”

Hall, who carded a 71, looked disappointed after letting several birdie putts slip past the hole, but she will remain in contention for her first win on Tour.

South African Lee-Anne Pace, the 2013 tournament champion, is a stroke further behind in fourth position, followed by Swedes Camilla Lennarth and Frida Kinhult and Natalia Escuriola Martinez in joint fifth.

Lennarth, who has just returned from injury, had a 66, which was the best round of the day, while Kinhult, who will turn 18 is two days’ time, is the only amateur in the field.

The 17-year-old from Skaftö, which is a small island on the west coast of Sweden just north of Gothenburg, has played in three LET Access Series tournaments this year and was a member of the European PING Junior Solheim Cup team last month. The younger sister of professional golfer Markus Kinhult, a member of the men’s European Tour, she received an invitation to play in the tournament after winning the Spanish Amateur Ladies International Championship in March.

Meghan MacLaren, who won the Azores Ladies Open on the LET Access Series this year, sits in eighth position, while Olivia Cowan, Diana Luna and Ursula Wikstrom are tied for ninth.

The final round gets under way on Sunday at 8.10am.

LET – Success of the inaugural Rookie Orientation Days at La Sella Golf

Jornadas-Rookie-LET-2

February 4, 2015 – The Ladies European Tour Rookie Class of 2015 gathered together at Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort and Spa for the inaugural Rookie Orientation Days on January 29-31.  Players from across the globe travelled to Spain to hear about the organisation’s ‘More than a Tour’ vision, life as a touring professional and the inner workings of the LET.

Mike Round, Director of Development and Membership, commented: “We believe that it’s really important to give Rookies the right information and support at the start of the year so that their introduction to Tour life is as trouble-free as possible.”

“A key element of our development strategy is ‘LET’s Get Ready,’ which is designed to offer help to the Rookies in their first season on Tour.  We put together an all-you-need-to-know programme that covered a range of essential administrative issues, but also made them aware of our vision for the future of the organisation and the role they can play to help to turn that vision into reality.  The feedback we’ve had from the Rookies has been extremely positive we hope that this will become an annual event.”

Speaking at the end of the training sessions, LET Rookie Anne van Dam from Holland said: “The Rookie Orientation gave me a lot of information that will be useful for me as I head into the first few events and will help to get my season off to a good start.  It was good to hear the Members’ Regulations presentation so I now know what to do and what not to do.”

Fellow LET Rookie Emma Westin from Sweden echoed Anne’s view and added:  “Everything we have learned about Member’s Regulations, communications, member’s education and sponsor and promoter activities has been very useful and it is good to understand the big picture before coming into the 2015 season. We could see from the presentations the importance of the LET’s new vision and values and it is motivating to be part of the LET’s team that’s working together to reach out to the fans.”

Jornadas-Rookie-LET-3-Figueras-DottiOne of the highlights of the event was a motivational speech given by former LET Professional and highly respected coach, Marta Figueras-Dotti.  Marta offered words of wisdom based on her knowledge and experiences which captivated the Rookies.  She certainly had an effect on Anne, who said: “Marta’s speech was an inspiration and it was good to hear her personal stories and learn from such an experienced individual. She emphasised the importance of the love of the game, the passion for golf and staying focused.”

The 2015 LET season launches with the RACV Ladies Masters in Queensland, Australia, on February 12-15.
