Newton Golf – Miguel Angel Jiménez signs following his last Tour win using Newton Fast Motion Shaft

June 19, 2025 – Newton Golf Company, a technology-forward golf company with a growing portfolio of golf products — including putters, golf shafts, golf grips, and other golf-related accessories — has announced that Miguel Ángel Jiménez, one of the most accomplished players on the PGA Tour champions, has officially signed with the brand and will play its shaft technology moving forward.

The multi-time Tour winner validated the partnership immediately by capturing a victory at the Principal Charity Classic using the Newton Fast Motion shaft, introduced in April 2025.

Jimenéz secured his 16th PGA TOUR Champions title with a birdie on the first sudden-death playoff hole, marking the second professional Tour win for the Newton Motion shaft brand.

His powerful performance at the 6,833-yard Wakonda Club course in Des Moines, IA included a 310-yard longest drive and a 298-yard average—highlighting the shaft’s elite blend of stability, straightness and control.

The win also follows Doug Barron’s 2024 major victory at the Regions Tradition, reinforcing Newton’s growing impact across professional tours.

One of the most decorated and charismatic figures in professional golf, Jiménez has tallied 44 global victories across the PGA TOUR Champions, DP World Tour and other international events.

He is a four-time Ryder Cup team member for Europe and remains a dominant force on Tour in 2025, currently leading the PGA TOUR Champions money list.

“We couldn’t be more proud to congratulate Miguel on his win and to see the Newton Fast Motion shaft deliver on a major stage,” said Dr. Greg Campbell, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Newton Golf.

“When we set out to create this shaft, our goal was simple: develop technology that truly enhances a golfers’ ability to perform. Seeing world-class players like Miguel trust our shaft technology validates everything we’ve built—and it’s only the beginning.”

The Fast Motion shaft has already proven itself on Tour, with eight professionals – who have a combined nine major championships in their careers – putting it into play across the PGA TOUR Champions and LPGA Tour. Overall, 40 professionals on these tours are gaming Newton Motion shafts.

Building on the four key innovations of the Newton Motion shaft—including Elongated Bend Profile, Kinetic Energy Storage, Symmetry 360 Construction, and Variable Bend Profile—the Newton Fast Motion series caters specifically to players who demand lighter shafts without compromising stability, straightness, or control.

Light Yet Stable: High-Modulus Toray Carbon Fibers

The Newton Fast Motion shafts are constructed with advanced high-modulus Toray carbon fibers, known for their superior strength-to- weight ratio.

This design reduces shaft weight by approximately 10 grams compared to the Motion series, enabling faster swing speeds while maintaining tight dispersion, exceptional straightness, and stability.

Players can feel the shaft load naturally during the swing. This makes it easier to time and sequence the motion for more consistent strikes.

“Roughly 30–40% of driver shafts in Regular and Stiff flexes fall under the 55-gram weight category, serving golfers who seek added swing speed without losing control,” added Dr. Greg Campbell.

“This new line reflects our commitment to supporting the growing market segment of golfers seeking additional swing speed by utilizing lighter driver shafts.”

Distinctive Design: Red-to-Gold Finish That Changes Under Sunlight

The Newton Fast Motion series features a striking red-to-gold finish that shifts color under sunlight. Every shaft is Made in the U.S.A. at Newton Golf’s St. Joseph, Missouri facility, enabling tight quality control and supporting growing demand from club fitters, retailers, and international distributors.

A Lighter Shaft Powered by Newton’s Four Core Technologies

  • Elongated Bend Profile – Optimized for fairway wood lengths, the Fast Motion shaft flexes across its full length—from grip to tip— delivering improved clubhead speed.
  • Kinetic Energy Storage Optimization – Proprietary construction enables efficient energy storage during the swing and controlled release at impact for a significant boost in exit velocity.
  • Symmetry 360 Construction – This design eliminates shaft spine, providing consistent flex regardless of clocking position— critical for adjustable drivers and fairway woods.
  • Variable Bend Profile – Each flex is tuned based on swing speed rather than age or Slower swings benefit from greater flex and torque, while faster swings require the opposite.

Additionally, the Newton Fast Motion shaft replaces traditional flex labels (Ladies, Senior, Stiff, etc.) with Newton’s proprietary DOT system. Ranging from one to seven dots, the system enables precise matching of shaft performance to individual swing profiles—allowing fitters to fine-tune performance more intuitively than legacy flex categories.

With demand for lightweight performance shafts growing—particularly among club fitters and moderate swing speed players—Newton Golf believes the Fast Motion series is well-positioned to drive continued growth and brand momentum throughout 2025 and beyond.

Costa Navarino – Olazábal & Friends Charity Pro-Am concludes a golf year to remember at the Greek resort

December 6, 2022 – Professionals and amateurs from around the golfing world joined José María Olazábal, the two-time Masters champion, in the inaugural Olazábal & Friends Charity Pro-Am that took place from November 24-27 at Costa Navarino. The pro-am brought the destination’s golfing season to a fitting finale of an exciting year, during which it was named as the ‘World’s Best Emerging Golf Destination’ at the 2022 World Golf Awards.

Global golf icon Miguel Ángel Jiménez, the winner of 34 titles worldwide and who has appeared in four Ryder Cups, was among the players who joined the three days of the premium golfing event at the Mediterranean’s prime sustainable destination.

Amateurs had the exclusive opportunity to join Olazábal and his professional friends in an up-close and intimate experience, playing at Costa Navarino’s two new courses at Navarino Hills, which were designed by him and opened last February.

Featuring 14 teams, with each team comprising one professional and three amateurs, the pro-am included a practice round and two separate 18-hole competitions on the world’s first International Olympic Academy Golf Course – voted the ‘World’s Best New Golf Course’ at the 2022 World Golf Awards – and The Hills Course.

The impressive line-up of professionals featured the winners of a combined total of 68 European Tour titles including Spain’s Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, Santiago Luna and José Manuel Lara; Emanuele Canonica from Italy; France’s Christian Cevaer; 2021 Senior Open champion Stephen Dodd and Welsh compatriot Phillip Price, a member of Europe’s victorious 2002 Ryder Cup side.

Olazábal took the top spot in a head-to-head team competition with Jiménez with a winning score of -59, while Lara claimed the top honours in the individual professional competition ahead of Portugal’s Ricardo Santos and Lorenzo Gagli from Italy with a 36-hole total of four-under-par.

Olazábal said: “Our goal was to raise money for children in need and at the same time offer our guests a great time. I am so happy we achieved that and I would like to thank the Costa Navarino team and also my dear friend Miguel Ángel Jiménez and our fellow pros for helping us deliver a successful premiere. We cant wait to return again in 2023. Thank you all for your generosity.“

Jiménez said: “When José María calls, you know it is going to be something special. It truly was – a spectacular region, great golf courses, amazing guests, perfect organisation and all this for a good cause. Congratulations to all involved. My wife, Susanne, and I loved our time here and we already look forward to coming back to Costa Navarino.“

Social events including two dinners, a prize-giving lunch and post-event party and a golf clinic with Jiménez were also part of the event, with all proceeds being donated to Sport Mundi, the Spanish non-profit organisation chaired by José María Olazábal, which supports children in need.

In addition, the tournament supported the “Clean Messinia” initiative, led by the Captain Vassilis & Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation and Costa Navarino, which aims to support and engage the local communities in a more sustainable way of waste management.
