TaylorMade Golf – Yurav Premlall wins at El Prat in pure Tiger Woods style with his new Qi4D woods arsenal

May 11, 2026 – The South African conquered the 2026 Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship with a historic display of long game, accuracy and putting, supported by a TaylorMade bag highlighted by the P7TW irons inspired by Tiger Woods and the new Qi4D woods.
There are victories that leave their mark because of the result, and others that also deliver a message. Yurav Premlall’s triumph at the 2026 Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship belonged to the latter category. The young South African dominated Real Club de Golf El Prat with overwhelming authority, winning by a margin of 14 shots, a gap on the DP World Tour only comparable outside the Majors to Tiger Woods’ legendary 15-shot victory at the 2000 U.S. Open.

And the comparison does not end there. Premlall even appeared wearing a red Nike polo during the third round, precisely the day he posted the spectacular course record of 63. And, as if another symbolic detail were needed, he carries the TaylorMade P7TW irons in his bag, the model designed exactly to Tiger Woods’ preferences.
The victory in Barcelona also represents Premlall’s first DP World Tour title, achieved in his 29th appearance, and secures his playing rights through to the end of the 2028 season. It also lifts him from No.157 to No.26 in the Race to Dubai Rankings, while moving him to the top of the European Swing standings after its opening event.
The equipment change that opened a new dimension
Behind this competitive explosion there has also been a clear evolution in his equipment setup. Since the beginning of 2026, Yurav Premlall has worked intensively on optimising his TaylorMade bag. Then, at the start of March, he introduced the new Qi4D woods, adding a driver, 3-wood and Rescue, a move that appears to have especially transformed his performance off the tee.
The South African found at RCG El Prat the perfect stage to prove the potential of these new weapons. His combination of controlled distance and growing accuracy was one of the keys to the week.

There were also important changes on the greens. After testing different putter models during February, especially before the Magical Kenya Open, he initially returned to his usual blade putter. However, for the Joburg Open he decided to make the definitive switch to the TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter, equipped with a SuperStroke grip and a pronounced alignment line running across the entire crown, designed to improve alignment.
The result was immediate. After a hesitant opening round at El Prat, Premlall suddenly clicked in the second round and looked extraordinarily reliable with the putter, especially over the weekend, converting numerous birdie chances and avoiding virtually any mistakes under pressure.
A devastating statistical progression
The tournament statistics perfectly reflect how Yurav Premlall built a historic performance round after round.
In the opening round he still looked relatively discreet off the tee, recording 71.4% fairways hit and an average driving distance of just 218 yards. However, he already hinted at his potential with a solid 72.2% Greens in Regulation and 1.6 putts per green reached.

The transformation arrived on Friday. His round of 64 was backed up by an impressive 88.9% Greens in Regulation, the third-best figure of the day in the tournament, accompanied by a flawless 100% Scrambling performance. From that moment onwards, the tournament completely changed ownership.
Saturday was probably his highest point. His course-record 63 came with devastating statistics: 83.3% Greens in Regulation, only 24 putts and an extraordinary average of 1.3 putts per green reached, the best figure of the entire day. It was a lethal combination of iron precision and absolute efficiency on the greens.
And when it seemed impossible to maintain that level, he still produced one final exhibition on Sunday. His closing 63 was built on a spectacular 92.9% fairways hit, the second-best figure of the round, together with 23 total putts — the best number of the day — and another flawless 100% Scrambling performance.

Beyond power, Premlall won the tournament thanks to precision, consistency and complete confidence with the putter. A formula that inevitably recalls the greatest displays from the very best Tiger Woods.
