adidas Golf – New Adizero ZG golfers performance footwear that’s light all round

January 22, 2025 – adidas wants golfers to know that light isn’t always less, it’s more. Today the brand is reintroducing the Adizero franchise to golf with Adizero ZG, a new spikeless performance footwear model aimed to enhance stability, traction and comfort while fighting against foot fatigue by being light all round.

The new footwear will be offered in both laced and BOA options for men and women and will be available online, the adidas app and at select retailers worldwide beginning Friday, January 31. In seeking to build upon the success of the ZG footwear franchise, adidas learned that core golfers average 162 hours per year on their feet (*).

Spending that much time could lead to foot fatigue and ultimately less desire to get out on the course. With Adizero ZG, adidas introduces some key updates to help provide golfers with a lightweight solution so they can focus on that next round.

“A golfer’s feet and footwear are extremely critical to not only the swing but also their overall enjoyment of the round,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf.

“Adizero ZG represents the next step on our journey to provide golfers with a lightweight option that has technology specifically focused on tackling those important areas like traction, stability and comfort, all in a spikeless silhouette.”

“For me, footwear is another critical piece of my equipment when I play and compete, but beyond the performance it also needs to be comfortable and look good,” said adidas athlete Ludvig Åberg.

“The new Adizero ZG is one that checks all these boxes for me, but I was especially impressed with how well it helps with traction and stability while still being so comfortable and lightweight. It’s fun to play a small role in helping bring these products to life and it’s another example of how the adidas team continues to lead in footwear design for all golfers.”

The new Adizero ZG footwear introduces key technologies to provide more efficiency from the ground up:

Lightweight Traction

  • New lightweight undercut lugs along the perimeter of the SPIKEMORE outsole aim to offer golfers increased lateral stability and adaptive traction so that they react to what the golfer needs based on lie and terrain
  • A secondary cone-shaped traction system helps golfers feel flat on uneven terrain and is anti-clogging to help maximize traction overall

Lightweight Comfort

  • adidas combined LIGHTSTRIKE and LIGHTSTRIKE PRO cushioning in the midsole to help golfers feel comfortable and close to the ground.
  • In addition to an engineered tongue and INSITE 2.0 sockliner, Adizero ZG also features a molded heel cushion, which was inspired by the running category and provides softer and targeted padding to help offer a better fit and improved comfort

Dynamic Motion

  • A newly designed DYNAMIC TORSION plate in the outsole extends from the midfoot into the forefoot in specific areas to help golfers with rebound, but also to avoid rollover and power leak in the follow through of the swing
  • Design provides additional arch support to promote smooth walking, ultimately helping to reduce fatigue both during and after the round
  • To help the footwork throughout the swing, adidas also made the medial side of the outsole curved and softer while the lateral side has a sharper outside edge

The waterproof upper of Adizero ZG features adidas’ premium SPRINTSKIN material. This multi-layer upper is made up of high-performance materials to specifically give golfers an adaptive and athletic look while still being lightweight. adidas also included a heel clip in the upper to give golfers a locked-in feel and another layer of stability.

As part of the Adizero ZG range, adidas is introducing a BOA model for men and women to provide another option for improved fit and performance. adidas collaborated with the BOA Technology team to create a PRIMEKNIT sock-like construction so that golfers can slip the footwear on and then dial-in their fit with the micro-adjustable Li2 dial.

With the BOA Fit System hidden throughout the upper, it offers golfers a clean and athletic look to go along with a customized fit.

The new Adizero ZG will be available in a variety of colorways in laced and BOA versions for both men and women, including a junior model inspired by the footwear, beginning Friday, January 31 online, the adidas app and at select retailers worldwide.

adidas Golf – Golf and skateboarding combine for special and limited ‘Rolling Links’ capsule

October 2, 2024 – On the surface, golf and skateboarding may seem worlds apart – one steeped in tradition with now-changing perceptions of rules and conformity, and the other with an anti-establishment attitude. adidas is celebrating where these popular sports intersect through a special capsule – Rolling Links – that brings skateboarding style into the golf world, available in limited quantities beginning October 4.

The Rolling Links capsule represents a collision of two sport cultures that in many ways share more things in common than people may think. The products are inspired by the strong communities, unapologetic styles and individual nature of each sport; all shared attributes that exist across both golf and skateboarding. This convergence of similarities ultimately helped drive the creation for the collaboration with the two groups within the adidas brand. Designed with materials made for the course, the unisex product offering was called Rolling Links as a fun play on words that references aspects of both sports. ‘Rolling’ represents the literal rolling of the skateboard (or golf ball), and ‘Links’ as another term for a golf course but also when skateboarders link tricks together as part of a run.

The product designs include crewneck windshirts, hoodies, v-neck vest, short and long-sleeve polos and a mock neck short-sleeve shirt. The selection is complemented by a short and chino pant with tonal three-stripe side hem detailing. The white, gray, black, green and blue hues that make up the range are a nod to both the sports as well as the iconic adidas Trefoil. Silhouettes offer a relaxed, sporty vibe.

“The golf fashion landscape today is getting influenced by numerous areas across sport, culture and fashion,” said Dylan Moore, creative director, adidas Golf. “Like golf, skateboarding is a sport where style is unassuming, individual and with a little bit of attitude. We saw an opportunity to bring some of that design direction from our skateboarding counterparts at the brand to create something truly unique for the course and continue to push golf fashion in a new way.”

“For numerous reasons, golf is definitely a sport that is growing in the Skate community when they aren’t skateboarding,” said Adam Brown, senior brand director, adidas skateboarding. “So this type of collaboration at adidas is just one that makes sense, especially since there are so many parallels between the two sports. We see the changes that are happening in golf from a style standpoint, and we’re excited to partner with the golf team on something unique for the course that has a skate influence.”

To bring the creative campaign to life, adidas chose iconic Palm Springs as the backdrop, mainly for its laid-back vibe and notoriety for being a location that’s always offered an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. adidas also featured members of the adidas skateboarding team – Nora Vasconcellos, Kader Sylla, Jack Fardell and Zach Saraceno – all professional skateboarders who love the sport of golf for its similarities to skateboarding and play whenever they aren’t out skating.

The capsule also boasts two exclusive footwear silhouettes: a special chalk-white edition of the Superstar Golf with green and blue details alongside a sleek, all-black MC Z-Traxion. Both bring style and function to a new level on the course. A range of colored crew socks and caps complete the look for those headed to the first tee.

Rolling Links is available October 4 on adidas.com, the adidas app, and at select retailers worldwide in limited quantities.

adidas Golf – The new CODECHAOS 25 redefines performance in spikeless golf footwear

July 26, 2024 – CODECHAOS, the disruptive performance spikeless footwear franchise from adidas that’s redefined what a golf shoe can be, is introducing its next chapter: CODECHAOS 25. Designed to challenge the meaning and mentality behind spikeless performance, this new model introduces a redesigned outsole and upper aimed to provide golfers with an enhanced feeling of traction and stability in an eye-catching silhouette that’s impossible to ignore.

Led by the CODECHAOS 25 BOA model, the new footwear will also come in a laced version for men and women and will be available worldwide beginning August 1.

While pops of bright colors and its striking silhouette pack a powerful aesthetic, CODECHAOS 25’s updated performance components are what set the new model apart from other spikeless footwear in the market. Specifically, the redesigned outsole features a new 3D TORSION plate which aims to help golfers with stability both during their swing and as they walk the course.

The adidas team also found that the 3D TORSION plate provided a better overall fit and helped minimize midfoot bend, which ultimately can cause internal heel slip. Golfers will recognize the iconic TWISTGRIP outsole but adidas updated the outsole with a new lug shape placed over a greater surface area on the outsole, adding up to 40% increase in traction-providing elements compared against previous iterations of the footwear.

“Nearly 5 years ago, we made the bold move to introduce CODECHAOS when traditional spikeless models were saturating the market,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf.

“The impact this footwear had then and continues to have now is another proof point for us that golfers are continuing to look for spikeless performance in athletic and non-traditional silhouettes. CODECHAOS 25 represents a milestone for us on how we’ve made this shoe better over the past 5 years, especially during a time where golf has seen such tremendous growth and participation.”

To further enhance the performance of the shoe, the adidas team worked with engineers at BOA to incorporate PerformFit Wrap powered by the BOA Fit System as part of the BOA model of CODECHAOS 25. Covered by a zipper shroud, the PerformFit Wrap offers golfers another component aimed to provide a locked-in feel with additional stability. CODECHAOS 25 BOA will be available in both men’s and women’s silhouettes.

Knowing comfort is important for all golfers, adidas created a new hybrid midsole featuring both BOOST and LIGHTSTRIKE technologies. While BOOST focuses on energy return and cradling the foot, LIGHTSTRIKE is featured around the rim of the midsole to add both stability and comfort when golfers swing. This combination is ideal for golfers as most are seeking both comfort and stability while out on the course.

The upper for CODECHAOS 25 is comprised of a durable, multi-layer knit with the goal of providing golfers with additional flexibility. The bottom layer closest to the foot features a soft, moisture-wicking material, which helps to increase comfort over the course of the round. The middle layer, a dynamic jacquard, is an open structure aimed to provide flexibility and help golfers adapt to the lie, while the outer layer is a sporty mesh to enhance the layers beneath. A transparent PU film also provides a ‘window’ into what makes this upper unique while still giving golfers waterproof protection.

CODECHAOS 25 will be available on adidas.com, the adidas app and at select retailers worldwide in both BOA and laced models for men and women along with a junior model inspired by the footwear, beginning Thursday, August 1.

adidas Golf – An Open Invitation to the Summer of Golf with Limited-Edition CODECHAOS Footwear

June 19, 2020 – In what’s already been an eventful year, the summer season, as always, begins a new chapter. That’s why adidas Golf is introducing a new limited-edition silhouette – the CODECHAOS “Summer of Golf” – not only as a rally cry and declaration, but also to represent how golf has offered thousands of people some solace in recent weeks by playing the sport. The unique footwear will be available worldwide on June 20, the first official day of summer.

Originally inspired by the 1967 “Summer of Love” phenomenon that took place in San Francisco, this tie-dyed version of adidas’ new CODECHAOS footwear was intended to commemorate the locale for the second major of the year. That quickly changed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic that has impacted everyone in the world. At the heart of the colorful tie-dyed footwear the words ‘Summer of Golf’ are emblazoned on the tongue. While they certainly are a play on words in homage to the historic events of 1967, it evolved to become a pronouncement to golfers everywhere in 2020.

In the absence of live professional sports and many people losing the opportunity to play most sports recreationally, golf has emerged as a unique outlet to fill this void. With social distancing guidelines and increased attention around health, many golfers, both veterans of the game and new to the sport, have appreciated how golf offers the opportunity to safely play, exercise and interact with others.

“When we designed this shoe roughly 18 months ago, we clearly had no idea there would be a global pandemic that would impact all sports including our own,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “We knew that adding those three words on the tongue would make this shoe special, but those three words mean so much more now that we are actually able to get outdoors and play the game we love. It’ll definitely be a memorable summer in the history of our sport.”

CODECHAOS is the latest model from adidas to challenge the definition of what a golf shoe can be. The sleek spikeless silhouette was designed from the ground up. It features Twistgrip technology to give players precise traction where they need it most and BOOST cushioning for unparalleled comfort in every step.

The CODECHAOS “Summer of Golf” footwear will be available June 20th in limited quantities online and at select retailers worldwide.

adidas Golf – Change your game with new CODECHAOS footwear

January 21, 2020 – adidas is continuing to redefine the golf dress code, this time starting from the ground up. Today, adidas is pushing the boundaries in golf footwear once again by introducing a new line – CODECHAOS – meant to challenge the definition of what a golf shoe can be. Built with the modern golfer in mind, the new footwear, offered in both men’s and women’s styles, will be available worldwide on Jan. 31, 2020.

CODECHAOS is the latest product from adidas Golf that breaks down traditional stereotypes and the idea that there’s only one look for the sport. It taps into the mindset of those who prefer to set themselves apart, be different and create their own way around the course. It’s a declaration and invitation to golfers of all skill levels that traditions can be reset.

“Golf continues to evolve and is in an exciting phase right now where the traditions of the game and how it can be played are all being challenged,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “We’re excited about this movement which has inspired us to break down barriers and create unique footwear and apparel for anyone that picks up a club. CODECHAOS is meant to challenge what a golf shoe can look and feel like while still delivering top-notch performance to all golfers whenever or wherever they play.”

The aesthetic of CODECHAOS (RPP €169.95) is progressive and deliberate, meant to blur the lines by giving a connected look with the ground. The footwear features a new highly technical spikeless outsole that blends a soft, yet durable, rubber outsole with a first-of-its-kind TPU insert. This proprietary traction system – Twistgrip – was developed by evaluating heat maps in swing studies, specifically focused on the way golfers distribute and shift their weight throughout the swing. adidas was able to determine exactly where traction was needed most and what lug shapes would provide the best grip, regardless of conditions. Based on this machine test using grip-predictive analytics, coupled with testing in real-life scenarios, adidas landed on this unique grip configuration to provide maximum traction.

The upper construction of CODECHAOS is also a first for adidas Golf. The new upper is made of multi-layer mesh, giving the shoe a unique texture while enhancing durability and breathability, but also keeping it extremely lightweight. adidas encased these layers in film to provide waterproof protection to keep players dry no matter the conditions.

Golfers of all skill levels will still appreciate the full-length BOOST cushioning that gives players all-around comfort and energy return no matter how long they are on the course. The Torsion X stability bar will also ensure that all players are given tour-level support for every swing.

In addition to featuring vibrant colorways that offer players some added confidence as they make their way to the first tee or practice range, the new line also features a high-top model with Boa technology to give golfers yet another disruptive alternative. CODECHAOS Boa (RPP €199.95) offers a clean look, is waterproof, features a hydrophobic stretch-knit collar, and a lightweight slip-on construction for a game-changing combination. The L6 Boa ® Fit System provides players with a customised and locked-in feel, while also making it an easy on-and-off option.

The CODECHAOS lineup will also include the CODECHAOS Sport (RPP €149.95) model in men’s sizing. Built on a rubber spikeless outsole, this silhouette provides players with an even lighter construction for enhanced versatility. Golfers will have another strong option while still receiving a waterproof construction that includes a mixture of both BOOST and Bounce cushioning to keep them comfortable with every step.

CODECHAOS, CODECHAOS Boa and CODECHAOS Sport come in a variety of colours for both men and women and are available starting Jan. 31, 2020 on adidas.com and at select retailers worldwide.

adidas Golf – Signing of European Tour rising star Jordan Smith

January 15, 2019 – adidas is adding another rising star to its ranks. Yesterday, adidas Golf announced a multi-year contract with tour professional Jordan Smith to wear adidas’ apparel and footwear on and off the course.

The signing brings another player to a growing worldwide group of young standout professionals. Following a successful amateur career that included playing as part of the 2013 Walker Cup team for Great Britain & Ireland, Smith played his way through the PGA EuroPro and Challenge Tours, where he led both Order of Merits. He got off to a stellar start in his rookie season on the European Tour in 2017, claiming four Top-10 finishes along with a win at the Porsche European Open. Smith’s creativity and performance on the course set him apart as an ideal player to join the 3-Stripes.

“Jordan is the type of player that has clearly displayed the grit and talent required to succeed at the professional level,” said Matt Blackey, Senior Manager of Global Sports Marketing, adidas Golf. “He embodies the type of player we look for at adidas and we’re looking forward to supporting him as he continues his professional career.”

Smith completed the 2018 European Tour season with four top-10s, highlighted by a T-3 finish at the Volvo China Open.

“adidas is one of the biggest sports brands in the world and I’m excited to be joining the team,” said Jordan Smith. “I’m looking forward to getting into all of their great products to help me succeed on the course in 2019 and into the future.”

Jordan Smith will start wearing adidas Golf apparel and footwear on the course beginning at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship this week.

adidas Golf – Changes to new adipower family of golf footwear

October 8, 2018 – adidas Golf has announced a change to the adipower family of footwear that incorporates a new forging process as part of the design to provide extra stability for golfers throughout the swing. The new adipower footwear includes a spiked version for both men and women (adipower 4ORGED) and a spikeless version for men (adipower 4ORGED S), available now for golfers everywhere.

Based on consumer research where adidas looked at how weight shifts in the feet during the golf swing, they utilized a new technique to provide more stability for golfers without the need to add additional material to the shoe. The process, called forging, targets the areas where golfers need more stability and then heat-presses those materials in that portion of the shoe. The resulting heat press then hardens the material in these specific areas to not only provide extra lateral support, but also give the shoe a creative design aesthetic. It also helps keep the overall weight of the shoe down, meaning even more comfort for those who wear it.

“Anytime we can keep a shoe lighter without sacrificing the technology golfers need to play their best is a huge win,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “The forging process is so efficient. It’s just another piece that make this such a high performing shoe, which is what golfers expect from us.”

All versions will continue to feature adidas’ BOOST technology in the midsole, which gives players more energy return and is touted as the best cushioning in the game.

RRP: adipower 4ORGED, 169.95€; adipower 4ORGED S 149.95€ (with a one-year waterproof warranty and are available online at adidas.com and at select retailers worldwide).

September 21, 2018 – Golf’s ultimate team competition is nearly here. adidas Golf is celebrating the tradition, history and pride that embodies the Ryder Cup by unveiling a limited-edition version of the TOUR360. The exclusive footwear available Monday 24th September, is inspired by the iconic trophy that has changed hands between teams from the Europe and United States for more than 90 years.

Moving up the shoe past the BOOST technology, the TPU top plate that wraps around the wearer’s foot to provide support through the golf swing features a shiny gold colourway, a subtle nod to the top of the age-old trophy.

Those lucky enough to get a pair will also have the option to choose which team they want to support when wearing the shoes. Like the results that adorn the base of the Ryder Cup, the limited editions come with two sockliner options that feature the results from both teams since 1979.
