ECCO Golf – Evolving the award-winning women’s BIOM Hybrid 3 range for 2019

December 7, 2018 – Flagbearers of golf hybrid footwear, ECCO Golf, have added several new styles to their women’s ECCO BIOM Hybrid 3 offering, with the popular GORE-TEX waterproof design now available in a range of eye-catching Spring/Summer 2019 colour combinations that feature the refined derby cut lacing style.

Featuring the groundbreaking TRI-FI-GRIP outsole, the shoe is the latest evolution of the brand’s multi-award-winning and best-selling ECCO BIOM Hybrid franchise.

TRI-FI-GRIP ensures multi-purpose zonal performance through three segments; one for stability, another for durability and a third for rotational support.

The zonal structure is a product of intensive research and data analysis in the ECCO Golf Lab. Each is formed from ultra-durable TPU, meaning the shoes can be worn on and off course without affecting performance.

TRI-FI-GRIP Zonal Performance:

  • Zone 1 centres on delivering outstanding lateral stability throughout the swing
  • Zone 2 forms the middle of the outsole and is designed to guarantee walking comfort through the round and beyond. It also features a durability region in the heel where shoes can be prone to wearing
  • Zone 3 is a specially engineered rotational section designed to optimise the movement in the forefoot through slim, rounded lugs which promote fast and easy rotation through the swing

Lead Designer Andrzej Bikowski looked for new ways to adapt the stand-out shoe to provide a fresh and eye-catching visual.

“Building on the success of the hugely popular ECCO BIOM Hybrid 3 model we wanted to continue the story by refining the appearance of the shoe and introducing some modern, considered designs”, said Andrzej Bikowski.

“The addition of these new styles will help to provide depth to the range and we envisage continued success for this outstanding shoe in 2019.”

Additional features of the women’s ECCO BIOM Hybrid 3 include:

  • An ECCO Racer Yak leather upper with supreme breathability and durability
  • 100% GORE-TEX waterproof protection
  • The option of a BOA closure system for optimum fit
  • ECCO Freedom Fit mixing a snug heel setting with a roomier forefoot area that allows toes to move naturally
  • BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology brings the player closer to the ground while offering an anatomical last shape with superb cushioning and advanced support
  • Removable Ortholiteinlay soles, offering long-term cushioning enhanced breathability, moisture management and the option of extra width

As is the case with all of the golf shoes in ECCO Golf’s Spring/Summer 2019 Collection, ECCO BIOM Hybrid 3 is crafted at company-owned factories that utilise FLUIDFORM technology to bond the upper and outsole unit, creating a durable, supple and integral bond between the sole and its leather upper without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include flexibility, durability and a lightweight construction.

Wearing ECCO COOL, the Spaniard entered the final round with a three-shot lead as he went in search of a maiden Challenge Tour victory, having already notched five top-five and seven top-ten finishes this season.

The 24-year-old birdied the 72nd hole to seal victory at the season-ending event by a single shot and secure promotion from the Challenge Tour in just his first full season as a professional golfer.

“Winning the tournament wire-to-wire is something that I have never done before in a professional level,” commented Adrià Arnaus.

“It’s even more special because from the first day I was able to maintain the intensity and play some good golf, that makes this day even more memorable.

“It’s my first full year as a professional golfer and my main goal has always been to get to the European Tour, and to be able to do that in this way is just wonderful,” he added.

Jesper Thuen, responsible for sponsorship at ECCO Golf, said: “What Adri has been able to achieve in less than a year as a professional golfer is nothing less than spectacular.

“This win is a fitting way to cap what has been an incredibly consistent season for him, and his performances on the Challenge Tour this year show he possess all the attributes to succeed at the very highest level.

“We wish him nothing but success as he embarks on his maiden European Tour season later this month in Hong Kong,” added Thuen.

Arnaus competed wearing ECCO COOL, a ground-breaking cleated model which leverages GORE-TEX SURROUND technology to provide 360° breathability without compromising on waterproof protection.

ECCO Golf – Traction and agility combine to continue the natural motion story with BIOM G3

November 5, 2018 – Danish golf footwear innovators, ECCO Golf, have continued their ground-breaking BIOM story with the launch of the ECCO BIOM G3, as an advance of Spring 2019, which showcases an evolution of comfort, style and innovation.

ECCO BIOM G3 utilises a range of industry-leading technologies to deliver exceptional performance that will last round after round, while hard-wearing ECCO YAK leather uppers and a waterproof GORETEX construction keep feet dry and comfortable in even the wettest weather.

ECCO Golf’s renowned BIOM NATURAL MOTION last combines low-to-the-ground stability with a glove-like fit that is built for natural motion. Uncompromising traction is provided through ZARMA-TOUR spikes which work together with hybrid cleats on the toe and rotation line to offer optimal grip and a more stable footing right from the first tee to the last green.

ECCO BIOM G3 further highlights ECCO Golf’s commitment to crafting shoes with innovative comfort properties, including:

  • ECCO FLUIDFORM  Direct Comfort Technology which is a ‘state change’ process that uses specialised fluid materials to form around an anatomical last, ensuring a finely-tuned balance of cushioning and rebound, while also creating an integral, flexible and durable bond without the compromises common with stitched or glued assemblies
  • A BIOM NATURAL MOTION last that enables the foot to move more naturally, closer to the ground, forming like a second-skin around the foot
  • ZARMA-TOUR spikes that use six flexible, anti-clogging comfort legs for superior traction. A rotation line on the toe, and the addition of hybrid cleats, enhance agility on the course
  • A removable, washable Ortholite foam inlay sole that provides long-term cushioning and superior breathability, as well as the option of extra width when removed

The uppers of the shoe are manufactured using premium ECCO Tumbled Textured Yak leather, from ECCO-owned tanneries, that provides a supple, garment-washed look and feel. Bouncy and full, the leather has a slightly raised grain and natural shine that highlights its eye-catching surface texture.

Furthermore, a double-layer neoprene collar adds stretchable comfort and softness, adapting to the foot by seamlessly wrapping around the heel.

ECCO BIOM G3 is crafted at company-owned factories that utilise FLUIDFORM technology to bond the upper and outsole unit, creating a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include flexibility, durability and a lightweight construction.

RRP: ECCO BIOM G3, 229€; ECCO BIOM G3 BOA, 259€.

ECCO Golf – Ambassador Minjee Lee celebrates birthday with LPGA Volvik Champlionship title

May 30, 2018 – Australian Minjee Lee celebrated her 22nd birthday in style with a dramatic victory at the LPGA Volvik Championship on Sunday in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Having taken a two-shot lead into the final round, challengers pushed Lee all the way to the end before a closing birdie on the 72nd hole lifted her to a one-shot victory.

Lee, who turned 22 on the final Sunday of the event, has shown terrific form all season recording five top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour, including narrowly missing out in a playoff to fellow ECCO Golf ambassador, Lydia Ko a few weeks ago.

The win moved Lee up seven places in the Rolex World Rankings to number eight, as she entered the top-10 for the first time in her career.

“I’ve been playing pretty solid the whole year, and it’s just nice to have a win,” said Minjee Lee. The victory comes at a great time for Lee with the Women’s US Open beginning on Thursday next week.

“It’s going to be a totally different week, so I’ll just try my best and I know I’m hitting it pretty solid and putting it solid, so I think we’ll have a great week,” said Lee.

Jesper Thuen, responsible for sponsorship at ECCO Golf, added: “It was fantastic to see Minjee finally get her win on the LPGA Tour this season, she has been playing some incredible golf.

“Minjee thoroughly deserves to be ranked inside the world’s top 10, it’s a testament to her continued excellent form. Looking ahead to the US Open next week I wish all of our ambassadors the best of luck.”

Lee competed wearing her women’s ECCO BIOM G 2, a design which features an athletic, ECCO HYDROMAX treated ECCO Racer Yak leather upper, as well as a technical insole system and anatomical last.

The shoe is also highlighted by exceptional support and comfort via ECCO BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology that mirrors the foot’s anatomical shape bringing the player closer to the ground, and a visible, carbon-look stability bar running heel to mid-foot.

ECCO Golf – Ambassadors finish 1st and 2nd as Lydia Ko returns to the winner’s circle

May 2, 2018 – Lydia Ko claimed the 15th LPGA Tour victory of her career in stunning fashion at the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship at Lake Merced Golf Club on Sunday, making eagle on the first playoff hole to outlast fellow ECCO Golf ambassador Minjee Lee.

Ko, who turned 21 years old only last week, is no stranger to success at Lake Merced, having won back-to-back Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic titles there in 2014 and 2015.

Entering the final round with a one-shot lead, Ko fired a 71 (-1) on Sunday, including a birdie at the par-5 18th to force a playoff with Lee who had birdied four of her last six holes to post a clubhouse lead of 276 (-12).

The runner-up finish continues Lee’s impressive run of form, with five top-10s in eight starts on the LPGA Tour in 2018.

Speaking to the media following her win, Lydia Ko said: “When that putt dropped, I was like oh, my God. I actually thought my chip might go in the first time I played the 18th hole, but a lot of emotions.

“My whole team and my family, they’ve worked really hard for this moment, so I’m happy that a few of them are here and we can celebrate together.”

Jesper Thuen, responsible for sponsorship at ECCO GOLF, added: “It was fantastic to see Minjee and Lydia battle it out for the title.

“It was only a matter of time before Lydia tasted victory again, as we all know how talented she is and how hard she works on her game. We’re excited to see what the rest of 2018 holds for all our LPGA Tour players.”

It was also a great week for Caroline Masson who carded a bogey-free final round of 68 (-4) to finished tied for seventh at seven under par.

All three players competed wearing women’s ECCO BIOM G2, a design which features an athletic, ECCO HYDROMAX treated ECCO Racer Yak leather upper, as well as a technical insole system and anatomical last.

The shoe is also highlighted by exceptional support and comfort via ECCO BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology that mirrors the foot’s anatomical shape bringing the player closer to the ground, and a visible, carbon-look stability bar running heel to mid-foot.
