Ecco Golf – Extension agreement with PGA Tour player Will Wilcox

Will-Wilcox-Ecco-Golf-2015November 1, 2014 – Danish shoe brand Ecco has announced the extension of its endorsement agreement with PGA Tour player Will Wilcox, who will continue to showcase the company logo on his shirt collar and compete in its BIOM golf shoes featuring Natural Motion technology.

A 28-year-old Alabama native, Wilcox recorded five Top-25 finishes as a PGA Tour rookie in 2014 and concluded the year ranked among the top-20 in Total Driving. Notably, he placed T4 at the Greenbrier Classic and T8 at the Sony Open.

“Will has proven that he can elevate his performance while competing against the game’s best players,” says Jesper Thuen, Global Sponsorship, PR & Event Manager, Ecco Golf. “He’s poised to take yet another step forward in 2015.”

Taught the game by his mother, Kim, who coaches the University of Alabama at Birmingham women’s golf team, Wilcox was a nationally-ranked junior before becoming a three-time collegiate All-American. He turned professional in 2009, winning three times between the NGA Tour and Canadian Tour before earning his PGA Tour card by finishing No. 7 on the 2013 Web.com Tour money list. That season, he won the South Georgia Classic and became only the fourth player in Web.com Tour history to shoot a 59 in competition (final round of Utah Championship).

“Ecco makes the most comfortable and durable golf shoes I’ve ever worn,” says Will Wilcox. “The wide variety of styles allows me to switch back and forth between cleated and hybrid models depending on the footwear experience I want on a particular day.”

Will Wilcox will compete in a range of selections from the award-winning Ecco BIOM line featuring Natural Motion technology. These include the new BIOM Hybrid 2 and BIOM G2 models.

September 4, 2014 – Danish company Ecco, a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear, confirms that Staff Player Fred Couples wore its award-winning BIOM Hybrid golf shoes featuring E-DTS outsole technology en route to winning the Shaw Charity Classic this past weekend at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Showcasing the Ecco logo on his headwear, Couples shot a course-record, 9-under 61 on Sunday, highlighted by eagles at Nos. 11 and 18. That brought him from four-back starting the round into a tie for the lead at the end of regulation. He then claimed the title – his 11th career Champions Tour crown – with a tap-in birdie on the first playoff hole.

“To come back and win is a great feeling,” said Fred Couples. “I consider this to be a nice, tricky, tough little course and no bogeys is good.”

The 54-year-old opened the week with rounds of 68 and 66, and surged to the top of the leaderboard on his final nine. A chip in from the primary rough on the 18th earned him one of the day’s biggest ovations.

“Fred’s game is truly ageless,” says Jesper Thuen, Global Sponsorship, PR & Event Manager – Ecco Golf. “Whenever he tees it up, regardless of the competition, he’s a threat to go low and earn a victory.”

Like all Ecco shoes in the hybrid category the company pioneered, BIOM Hybrid is built atop the patented E-DTS outsole boasting approximately 100 moulded traction bars and 800 traction angles. Constructed from TPU – a highly durable, wear-resistant material – these elements provide superb, Tour-quality grip.

E-DTS sole combines with another patented innovation – Natural Motion technology – to provide the exceptional levels of comfort, stability and traction for which Ecco is renowned.

What is Yak Leather for Golf Shoes All About!

Zapatos de golf Ecco con piel de Yak

Logo piel de YakAugust 24, 2012 – Danish brand Ecco is the leading producer of golf shoes with yak leather. The yak is a remarkable animal that lives in alpine rangeland of the Tibetan Plateau, an area where few other animals can survive. Amazingly, it thrives in the harsh conditions of the wild and mountainous landscape. In essence, yak hide is a multi seasonal leather consisting of a thin, compact woven collagen fibre and closed fine grain. These unique characteristics protect the yak in the warm summers and cold winters.

Characteristics: Due to the nature of the skin, yak has a very unique and individual look that differs from hide to hide, which is hard to find in other leathers. The aged and natural look of this leather is emphasized by the strong markings and natural characteristics in the hide. An effect which is highly visible, especially on oiled nubuck.

Benefits: Yak hide creates extremely strong leather and offers an excellent abrasion resistance. The strength of the leather is due to the thin, compact woven collagen fibre and closed fine grain, which makes it possible for Ecco to cut the hides into thin leathers and thereby reduce the weight. The light weight, high breathability and extreme durability, makes it the ideal choice for high-performance activities.
