ECCO Golf – Major performance, Major comfort: Aaron Rai provides another milestone in the ECCO BIOM story

May 29, 2026 – Aaron Rai’s breakthrough PGA Championship victory at Aronimink Golf Club not only marked the Englishman’s maiden major title, but also once again showcased the performance philosophy behind ECCO Golf’s industry-leading BIOM technology.

Rai, wearing ECCO BIOM TOUR shoes throughout the week, produced a composed and clinical performance to secure the Wanamaker Trophy with a stunning final round five-under-par 65.

For ECCO Golf, the victory represents another milestone moment in the long-standing success story of BIOM, a technology platform that has been at the centre of ECCO GOLF’s performance footwear for more than a decade.

Rai had been wearing ECCO Golf shoes organically for years before officially becoming an ECCO Golf ambassador in 2026. Known throughout professional golf for his meticulous preparation, commitment to consistency and focus on feel, Rai’s long-standing trust in ECCO footwear reflects the core principles behind BIOM design.

Every BIOM shoe is built around the natural shape and motion of the human foot, using an anatomically sculpted last developed through extensive foot scanning and pressure mapping. The technology is engineered to enhance natural movement, ground interaction, and stability throughout the golf swing.

That grounded sensation has become synonymous with Rai’s playing style.

Widely regarded as one of the most composed and methodical players on tour, Rai is known for prioritising familiarity and feel over constant equipment changes. His preference for trusted setups, structured routines, and natural movement mirrors the philosophy behind BIOM.

Timo Vollrath, Head of Global Marketing at ECCO Golf, said: “Aaron’s victory is a brilliant example of what BIOM is designed to support. His game is built on consistency, stability and trust in his movement, and those are exactly the principles behind our BIOM technology”.

“For years, BIOM has helped golfers move naturally and stay connected to the ground throughout the swing. Aaron’s performance at Aronimink demonstrated those qualities at the very highest level.”

At the core of BIOM is ECCO Golf’s low-to-the-ground construction, designed to improve ground feel and allow golfers to use the forces of the ground more effectively throughout the swing. Rai has frequently spoken about the importance of comfort and confidence in his footwear.

“For my performance, the ECCO shoe is so important because it gives me comfort, and that’s not really something that you can put a price on,” Aaron Rai said following his PGA Championship victory.
