Galvin Green – Super cool Jordan Smith adds to the Team Galvin Green sunshine legacy

November 1, 2022 – Team Galvin Green player Jordan Smith remained super cool during the final round of the 2022 Portugal Masters last Sunday to capture his second Tour title in five seasons and his first since signing with the leading sustainable apparel brand at the start of this year.

Playing in temperatures averaging 24°C and 73% humidity at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course at Vilamoura, Smith delivered a stunning wire-to-wire victory made up of 27 birdies and three eagles – with an eagle and six birdies in a closing 8-under round of 63 – to end the tournament at 30 under par and beat Malaysian Gavin Green by three shots. But for soft course conditions calling for preferred lies, it would have been the lowest-ever winning score at a DP World Tour event over 72 holes at 254, one better than the official record held by Ernie Els since 2003.

Since becoming a Galvin Green player, Smith has enjoyed his best season on Tour, with six top-10 places and two runner-up spots at the Ras al Khaimah Championship in the UAE in February and the MyGolfLife Open in South Africa in March. He currently leads the DP World Tour driving stats, while just behind Rory McIlroy with a stroke average of 69.60. He now moves up from 14th on the DP World Tour rankings to inside the top 10 and a chance of contending for top prize-money at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, plus the prospect of a place in Europe’s 2023 Ryder Cup team in Rome.

When achieving his triumph in the sunshine of the Algarve, the Englishman wore a succession of new Galvin Green MARLOW shirts – finishing in the Blue & Lime style – along with contrasting Sharkskin NOAH pants and a Sharkskin WARREN belt. The design of the fully printed short sleeved shirts was inspired by pixels made into flowers and they come with excellent breathability properties, offering dry comfort and UV protection 20+, as well as stretch fabric inserts for optimum freedom in the swing. The yarn is made from 100% polyester, which pushes moisture to the surface where it spreads and evaporates. The NOAH pants, which are made from the same Bluesign approved soft fabric as the shirts, incorporate a shirt gripper waistband and stretch function for comfort and a perfect fit. They come with front and back pockets in six colour options, including Navy and White.

Commenting after his ball-striking masterclass, Jordan Smith said: “It’s been a long grind for those five seasons…but now I’ve got my second one (Tour win) we can push on for a couple more.”

And speaking about his Galvin Green outfits, he added: “I love everything about the Galvin Green clothing. It just fits really well and looks very smart, as well as sporty. I don’t mind wearing bright or bold shirts, so I tend to pick the shirt and then match everything around that. I’ve had a lot of compliments about the shirts from other players on Tour.”

“We’re so happy to see Jordan win another Tour title that his game has richly deserved this year,” said Nicholai Stein, CEO of Galvin Green.

“While our brand has become synonymous with reliable outerwear for serious golfers, we pride ourselves on having developed moisture-wicking garments that offer significant benefits in warm playing conditions. Jordan has just added to the sunshine legacy that Galvin Green Tour players have created over recent years, including JJ Spaun at the Valero Texas Open in April,” he added.

Galvin Green high-performance clothing designed for warmer temperatures includes options across a total of 49 shirts, 11 pants and nine shorts.

Galvin Green – Marking 30 years of GORE-TEX with record waterproofs offering

October 28, 2022 – Leading high-performance golf apparel brand Galvin Green is marking three decades of innovation using GORE-TEX fabric across its extensive range of 100% waterproof garments by providing golfers of all ages and sizes with a record choice of 54 protective jackets and matching pants this Fall.

The latest Galvin Green collection of GORE-TEX outerwear includes 32 jackets and pant options for men and 16 for women golfers, plus another six for junior players. They come in up to 11 different colour choices or combinations, as well as multiple sizes for the perfect fit.

“Our long-standing working relationship with the amazing GORE-TEX fabric has protected so many golfers across the world over the past 30 years and we’ve sold almost 1.3 million GORE-TEX garments during that time,” said Nicholai Stein, CEO of Galvin Green.

“Decades of producing waterproofs with unrivalled durability and performance benefits in the wettest playing conditions under Gore’s ‘Guaranteed to keep you dry’ proposition means that today’s outerwear range is backed by the best-performing waterproof membrane on the market and the most functional styles,” he added.

The first Galvin Green rain jacket made from the durable and highly breathable GORE-TEX material was launched in 1992, just two years after the company was founded. It coincided with the brand becoming the first in the golf waterproofs market to offer bright colour options, such as Red and light Blue. Such was the popularity of the non-traditional Black or Navy versions, that Galvin soon introduced Yellow, Orange and White jackets to boost its standout credentials as a brand offering fashionable style along with reliable functionality.

Six years later in 1998, Galvin Green became the first brand to introduce half-zipped jackets, followed in 2003 by ultra-lightweight Paclite streamlined jackets without pockets – both GORE-TEX garments remaining popular among serious golfers.

The first GORE-TEX stretch jackets and pants from Galvin Green were launched in 2007 and as the material became more flexible for the golf swing the brand incorporated stretch inserts in the shoulders and arms in 2008 and pioneered 4-way stretch fabric in 2011.

Almost a decade ago in 2013, the first Galvin Green GORE-TEX jackets and pants using Bluesign approved eco-friendly fabric were added to the range. Galvin then supplied award-winning rainwear to Europe’s Ryder Cup teams, including the winners at Gleneagles in 2014 and Paris in 2018.

A year later, the inverted GORE-TEX fabric SHAKEDRY jacket weighing just six ounces was launched, followed more recently by the fully featured ACTION jacket with smooth GORE-TEX ‘slide & glide’ C-KNIT backer technology and Superstretch inserts for exceptional freedom of movement, as well as consistently reliable protection from the elements.

Galvin Green GORE-TEX rainwear is available from more than 70% of the Top 30 golf courses around the world, including Bandon Dunes, Pebble Beach and Cabot Cliffs in Canada.

Headlining the latest GORE-TEX outerwear garments from Galvin Green are the sporty ALBERT men’s jacket incorporating a lightweight mesh lining and matched with ANDY pants, plus the AILA jacket for women in the new Navy/Green colourway and coordinated with ANNA pants.

Among the standout features across these contemporary waterproof garments are adjustable chest and leg widths in the jackets and pants; mesh and fleece lining for added warmth; repositioned side seams for optimal comfort; front pockets with brushed lining, back pockets with Velcro closure, water repellent zips, adjustable elasticated waists, plus, adjustable cuffs and shaped sleeves for easy movement in the swing.

Galvin Green – Celebrates Eco Landmark in Sustainable Golf Week

October 6, 2022 – As the inaugural Sustainable Golf Week looks to bring the golfing community together to shape a greener future for the game, leading golf apparel brand Galvin Green has announced that almost 3 million PET plastic bottles have been recycled and transformed into its high performance eco-generation INSULA sweater range over the past three years.

Having become an Innovation Partner to the GEO Foundation in 2021, Galvin Green has accelerated its commitment to minimise social and environmental impact while, at the same time, helping to maximise performance by creating functional, long-lasting and stylish garments for men and women golfers.

In the case of the award-winning range of INSULA sweaters, this has been achieved through transforming large quantities of recycled plastic bottles into polyester yarns used in the production of each garment. The brand has also sourced Bluesign and OEKO-TEX standard 100 approved eco-friendly materials in much of its latest Part Two collection – from the original fabric to thread and buttons. Recycled plastic packaging and display hangers complete the brand’s comprehensive drive towards a greener offering.

“As passionate supporters of sustainability in golf, we share the same values and ambitions as the GEO Foundation in driving the green agenda forward to make a real difference for the future of golf wherever it’s played,” said Galvin Green CEO Nicholai Stein.

In 2021, the pioneering eco-generation INSULA range of sweaters won the first ever ‘Sustainability in Sport’ award at the prestigious Sports Technology Awards, adding to the brand’s reputation for creating sustainable and environmentally friendly products.

The Swedish company – based in the 2018 European Green Leaf Award winning southern city of Växjö – has stayed true to its ‘Never Compromise’ motto by using suppliers that operate in an environmentally responsible manner. For example, the INSULA fabric is crafted at a hi-tech factory in Italy with a long tradition of producing high quality knitted fabrics in a sustainable way. Around 70% of the factory’s total energy needs, which is the most non environmentally friendly factor in production, come from solar panels fitted on the roof.

This approach has ensured the brand has constantly pushed the boundaries in introducing technical fabrics and stylish, functional clothing to encourage golfers to play whatever the weather, knowing that the garments offer unrivalled long-lasting comfort as well as performance benefits.

December 6, 2021 – Leading high-performance golf apparel brand Galvin Green has extended its exclusive clothing contracts with European Tour stars Alexander Björk and Laurie Canter for the forthcoming 2022 season, after they finished inside this year’s Race to Dubai top 30 rankings.

The Swedish ace enjoyed a strong second half of the season finishing T2 in the DP World Tour Championship last weekend to move up 39 places to 12th in the final Race to Dubai points list, while a string of consistent results saw the Englishman end the schedule in 24th spot, following a closing 68 at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course in Dubai.

Alexander Björk, winner of the 2018 Volvo China Open, has played in Galvin Green clothing since he turned professional in 2009, as the company based at his home city of Växjö in southern Sweden supported his career development through from the Nordic and Challenge Tours.

Laurie Canter claimed five top-10 finishes on the European Tour this year. His most notable challenge came at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September, where he narrowly missed out on his maiden Tour victory on the final hole. He has worn Galvin Green apparel on Tour since 2015, having originally chosen to wear the brand before turning professional.

“Both Alexander and Laurie are fantastic ambassadors for Galvin Green and they carry the brand on and off the course with great style,” said CEO Nicholai Stein. “The drive for perfection is the focus of everything we do at Galvin Green and this ethos is clearly shared by these fine players, as they put themselves into contention at the world’s biggest tournaments,” he added.

“As a golfer from Sweden and Växjö, I’m very proud to wear the Galvin Green brand on Tour as it represents the ultimate in golf clothing design and fabric technology to keep me playing at the optimum level” said Alexander Björk. “Renewing our agreement for next season gives me motivation to take my performances to the next level and continue the success of our partnership.”

One of the longest drivers on the European Tour averaging 304 yards, Laurie Canter commented: “Because we play in such a wide variety of conditions – from the intense heat of Dubai to the wind and rain of Scotland – I know that wearing Galvin Green will always help me perform at my best. Being comfortable on the golf course so important to my success that I’m delighted to sign with Galvin Green for another exciting season.”

Among the most notable garments worn by Björk and Canter this past season have been the distinctive MITCHELL and MAC shirts, constructed in VENTIL8 PLUS stretch fabric that combines excellent breathability with UV 20+ protection; NOAH trousers in the same flexible fabric which incorporate a shirt gripper waistband for a perfect fit in 20 size options; the DOMINIC INSULA half zip sweater made from fabric derived from recycled plastic bottles with extra padding in the shoulders for increased comfort; and the 100% waterproof GORE-TEX ACTION jacket with a C-KNIT ‘slide & glide’ lining.

Galvin Green – Re-sign of Laurie Canter for 2021 season

December 22, 2020 – Leading high-performance golf apparel brand Galvin Green has reached agreement to extend its contract with rising Tour star Laurie Canter for the forthcoming season, after the Englishman finished the European Tour’s 2020 Race to Dubai in the Top-20.

The 31-year-old moved up 25 places to end last season in 19th spot with his T5 place at the Jumeirah Golf Estates course, where he was among the leaders going into the final round. It rounded off an impressive five months for the former Challenge Tour player, who recorded the European Tour’s lowest round of the year – shooting 60 (-12) at the Italian Open in October. Ranked outside the world’s Top-500 before August, he achieved four Top-5 finishes over the latter stages of the Tour schedule to take his world ranking up to 132.

“Laurie has given the Galvin Green brand and our clothing a lot of great exposure over recent months and we’re really pleased for him that he’s been in such great form and gained well-deserved recognition as one of Europe’s rising players,” said CEO Nicholai Stein. “We wish him well for the new season and hope he achieves his ambition of winning a maiden Tour title wearing our clothing that’s designed to inspire all golfers,”he added.

Laurie Canter, ranked 20th in the Tour’s 2020 Driving Distance averages at over 315 yards and current #1 in Strokes Gained off the Tee to Green at 0.89 across 58 tournaments he’s played, commented: “Feeling comfortable out on the course, regardless of the weather conditions or my tournament position, has been a huge part of my recent rise up the Tour rankings and Galvin Green outfits have proved themselves time and again at tournaments around the world. That’s why I’m thrilled to be re-signing with such a progressive and innovative brand that always helps to give me a feelgood factor every time I tee it up.”

Recent top performances included finishing second at the Portugal Masters in September and T2 at the Italian Open, where he also took the 36-hole scoring record at -16.

Among the most prominent garments worn by Laurie in recent tournaments have been the MERLIN shirt in VENTIL8 PLUS stretch fabric that combines excellent breathability with UV 20+ protection, while the shape of the shoulder and sleeves are designed to minimise restriction in the swing; NOAH trousers in the same flexible fabric which incorporate a shirt gripper waistband for a perfect fit in 20 size options; the LES windproof bodywarmer with an athletic fit; and the ASHTON 100% waterproof GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY full-zip jacket for optimum comfort during the swing.

Galvin Green – Christiaan Bezuidenhout wins fourth title in 18 months wearing Galvin Green

December 8, 2020 – Christiaan Bezuidenhout took his tournament victories wearing stylish and highly breathable Galvin Greenclothing to four within the past 18 months, when winning the South African Open last week weekend – averaging scores of -16 and four shots fewer than his rivals.

In securing his national title at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City – the longest course on the European Tour at almost 8,000 yards – Christiaan registered back-to-back wins on home soil after victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week and became the most successful Team Galvin Green player this millennium.

Playing in warm and humid conditions, Christiaan once again played an impressive back nine to dominate his rivals in the final round. Staying cool under pressure, he opted to wear the highly breathable MALONE shirt with a jacquard-knitted design and in Navy and black NOAH trousers in lightweight VENTIL8 Plus stretch fabric that offer UV 20+ protection.

“It’s any South African golfer’s dream to win a national tournament,” said Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who became the first player to win consecutive European Tour events since Justin Rose in 2017. “I’m a big believer in feel good, play good. Galvin Green have supported me for a number of years now and their range is getting better and better. To work with a great team and to wear clothing that really does work are very important factors in me producing good results,” he added.

His outstanding run of tournament victories began in June last year. Playing as a rookie on the European Tour, he captured the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama by six shots from four runners up, including Spain’s Ryder Cup star Jon Rahm (score -10). After finishing runner up at the Dubai Desert Classic in January, he then won the Dimension Data Pro-Am on the Sunshine Tour (-24) in February by a stroke at -21. His -14 score during last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship event saw him win by four shots, while he finished five shots ahead at -18 at the SA Open as the only competitor with four rounds under 70.

His latest triumph has moved Christiaan into the top five on the Race to Dubai ratings and up to 35 in the Official World Golf Ranking, ahead of the season’s final tournament at the DP World Tour Championship event on the Jumeirah Golf Estates course in Dubai.

“Galvin Green wishes Christiaan all the best in looking to complete a remarkable hat-trick of European Tour victories this week by becoming the Tour champion,” said CEO Nicholai Stein.

Galvin Green – Christiaan Bezuidenhout wins the Alfred Dunhill Championship 2020 in style

November 30, 2020 – Team Galvin Green star Christiaan Bezuidenhout won his second European Tour title in style at the Alfred Dunhill Championship 2020 in his native South Africa to mark a stellar fourth season with the leading apparel brand.

Fresh from making his debut at the Masters Tournament, the 26-year-old kept cool and calm wearing his VENTIL8 Plus shirt and trousers during the final round at the challenging Leopard Creek Country Club course to capture his first professional tournament on home soil by four shots with a brilliantly sculptured closing 69. He described the victory that puts him back into the world’s top 50 as being “very special and one I always wanted to win.”

It was his second triumph on the Sunshine Tour this year – after winning the Dimension Data Pro-Am in February – and followed his impressive win as a European Tour rookie at the 2019 Andalucia Masters at Valderrama, where he finished six shots ahead of Spanish favourite Jon Rahm. Runner up at the Dubai Desert Classic in January, he now moves up to 9th on the Race to Dubai, just behind fellow Modest! Golf Management player Tyrrell Hatton.

Playing in temperatures up to 35° C close to the Kruger National Park, Christiaan played a bogey-free back nine to stretch ahead of his rivals in the final round. To remain comfortable as possible, he chose to wear the MARIO shirt in Cool Grey/Sharkskin/Black and matching NOAH black trousers in highly breathable and lightweight VENTIL8 Plus stretch fabric that offers UV protection 20+.

“It’s really important to feel good on the golf course with good fitting clothing that’s lightweight and comfortable and I’m super happy with all the Galvin Green outfits I wear,” said Christiaan Bezuidenhout. “The VENTIL8 Plus shirts and trousers perform fantastically well in hot and humid conditions. Fashion is becoming a more and more important part of the game and I have great fun putting outfits together to look good on the course,” he added.

At Augusta earlier this month, Christiaan wore a special GREEN Paclite waterproof jacket inspired by the traditional green jacket associated with the famous Major event.

“Galvin Green is very proud to be associated with such a wonderfully talented golfer as Christiaan, who has proved to be a magnificent brand ambassador since he first signed in 2017,” said CEO Nicholai Stein. “We wish him well at the final European Tour event in Dubai next month and trust that our apparel will help him perform at his best once again.”

Galvin Green – Another stellar premium golf apparel range for 2020 with the Part Two Collection

September 2, 2020 – Galvin Green, the leading premium golf apparel brand that looks to deliver reach beyond theme with stellar performance from every single garment, has turned to the ‘Science of Excellence’ for inspiration for its 2020 Part Two clothing range launched this time.

Calling on 30 years of experience in performance-driven design and passion for the game, the brand set out to provide technical clothing that would give golfers an extra edge, while adding new styles and colour combinations to provide a feel-good factor unrivalled in the golf apparel market.

“We’ve taken a scientific approach to designing this new range to ensure that success on the golf course is built into every detail that’s relevant to the golfer and their performance,” said CEO Nicholai Stein.

“No detail is too small if it has a reason to exist, because Galvin Green understands that serious golfers never stop striving to improve their game where they can. Our aim is to help them with garments that offer exceptional comfort and performance as well as style – so we mirror that pursuit of perfection across our entire range of clothing,” he added.

The comprehensive Galvin Green collection of golf wear is designed to enable golfers to perform well in all weather conditions they encounter. It includes cutting-edge fabric technologies to maximise performance levels, while minimising any social or environmental impact.

The brand’s holistic approach to sustainability that began in 2013 is reflected in the fact that many garments in the latest range are made from materials approved under the globally recognised Bluesign textile manufacturing standard. This includes all GORE-TEX outerwear products, INSULA mid-layer garments, VENTIL8 PLUS pants and even garment labels. Almost all INSULA sweaters are now made from recycled polyester, while hangers and bags are made of recycled plastic.

APOLLO

LAYERING COMBINATIONS

Among its latest innovations, the brand has put forward ‘Comfort Combinations’ that equip a golfer with layering suggestions for different playing conditions – Rainy, Cold & Windy, Windy & Sunny, Sunny and Warm – while matching them with new colourways.

In the new men’s range for example, the outfits for a rainy day feature the APOLLO waterproof GORE-TEX Paclite stretch fabric jacket in the new Black/White/Red Orange/Sharkskin colours, plus the DWIGHT INSULA sweater made from recycled plastic bottles in Red Orange and the EDWIN SKINTIGHT Thermal top in Black.

There are no fewer than five GORE-TEX technologies in the range that are all Guaranteed To Keep You Dry.

The revolutionary super-lightweight SHAKEDRY product technology sees water bead up and roll off the garment, which is available in the full-zip ASHTON (Ash Grey/Red & Ash Grey/Silver options). Extremely breathable, this streamlined jacket also features shaped sleeves for easy movement, an elastic drawstring at the hem and cuffs with partial elastic to keep out the rain.

The four other Shell Layer waterproofs include the GORE-TEX fabric with a C-KNIT backer that will ‘slide & glide’ over garments worn underneath (the ARCHIE flagship model features TECHSTEEL on the shoulders for greater durability that easily handles abrasion when carrying the bag), with GORE-TEX Superstretch technology offering optimal freedom of movement.

There is also the GORE-TEX fabric with mesh lining for added warmth (AARON); the lightweight and packable GORE-TEX Paclite technology (APOLLO); and the half-zip stretch jacket ALEX with shaped sleeves for easy movement.

Each of these jackets can be matched with popular, durable waterproof trousers in the form of AXEL (Black) and ANDY (Navy & Black), plus the Paclite stretch pant ARTHUR (Navy, Black & the new Sharkskin) in up to 15 size options.

LANZO
