FootJoy – Renewed partnership with Harris Tweed Hebrides for a new golf footwear collaboration

July 14, 2022 – FootJoy has once more joined forces with Harris Tweed Hebrides in celebration of a summer of Scottish golf, introducing an extended limited edition footwear range that celebrates hand craftsmanship, heritage and tradition.

Following the popular release of the Black Watch Packard in 2021, the second iteration of the collaboration – ‘Shawbost’ – welcomes a unique Premiere Series Packard upper to the new limited-edition range.

Introduced during the pinnacle of the golf calendar by some of the world’s best players at the 150th Open, an event adorned with its own storied tradition and innovative play, Harris Tweed brings a distinctly auld accent to FootJoy’s Premiere Series Packard – itself renowned for timeless design infused with innovative performance technology.

The Shawbost collection, so named in tribute to the small town Hebridean location of the Harris Tweed mill where pure virgin wool is handwoven to create unique, flawless and beautiful designs, features a distinct tweed and design character, hand selected to recognise both brand’s intrinsic role in the history of the game and shared celebration of heritage.

The Premiere Series Packard Shawbost is presented within an authentic Harris Tweed shoe bag as a nod to the hand craftsmanship, design detail and dedication to the golfer that inspires the collaboration.

Governed by The Harris Tweed Act, the fabric must be handwoven in the homes of residents of the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, to be able to use the Harris Tweed name and logo. This maintains the integrity and distinctive character of the fabric which is recognised globally for its quality.

Unusually, the wool is dyed before being spun, allowing a multitude of colours to be blended into the yarn, creating a cloth of great depth and complexity. Harris Tweed cloth has been produced on the islands of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra for generations using truly traditional methods.

Each year Harris Tweed cloth is exported to over 50 countries worldwide – with every metre handwoven on the islands and then inspected by the Harris Tweed Authority before being stamped, by hand, with the Orb Mark.

1920-A1: Direct from Harris Tweed’s
mill in Shawbost, 1920-A1 is a multicolour houndstooth check tweed with shades of blue, brown and navy.

“Few sports with such rich histories as golf have such traceable beginnings. Scottish golf is celebrated the world over and given the rich heritage of both FootJoy and Harris Tweed, which are interwoven in golf’s past and present, it seems fitting to continue celebrating this great sport’s origins in Scotland”, said Guy Smith, FootJoy product manager.

“It is a very special year for golf and FootJoy’s Harris Tweed collection showcases this heritage with authenticity and style. The Shawbost Packard celebrates an era when houndstooth Harris Tweed was the choice for the discerning golfer. We are proud that they will be worn by golfers playing courses around the world – we continue to value our partnership with the number one shoe in golf,” said Mark Hogarth, creative director of Harris Tweed Hebrides.

FootJoy – Jessica Korda signs multi-year sponsorship deal with the Nº1 shoe and glove brand on the LPGA

May 27, 2022 – World Nº14 Jessica Korda has signed a multi-year, head-to-toe sponsorship deal with FootJoy that will see the 29-year-old American become the first LPGA Tour player to sign up to a full apparel, glove and shoe contract with the brand.

Already the Nº1 shoe and glove on the LPGA Tour, chosen by players like Ariya and Maya Jutanugarn, Brittany Lincicome, Austin Ernst, Bronte Law and countless others, Jessica Korda will be the first player to wear FootJoy women’s apparel.

A six-time winner, Jessica’s most recent victory came last season at the 2021 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. This capped a tremendous year in which she made the cut in all 17 events that she competed. She has already secured two top-10s in four events this season, including a runner-up finish at the season’s first major championship.

Korda is a truly global player, with victories in Malaysia, Thailand, Australia and in the Bahamas. She has also competed in three Solheim Cup events and represented the United States at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

“I spend a lot of time figuring out what shoes and apparel are best for my game and to work with a company that only focuses on the game of golf is such an awesome advantage,” said Jessica Korda. “They really understand my needs as a player.”

Not surprisingly, this commitment to determining the best products for her game has led Korda to be a fixture amongst the game’s elite players. Throughout the testing process, Jessica has experimented with a wide range of shoes. She has enjoyed the variety of shoes offered by FootJoy, but also knows what works best for her game.

“It’s so great to work with this incredible team, and there are just so many options which is one of the coolest things. It’s not just one shoe for every type of player.”

“My swing is so feel-orientated and it honestly goes from my feet up, where I can notice things like how firm or soft the ground and can sense any breaks in the greens. That’s where the shot process starts for me and then I make my decisions from there. That’s why footwear is such an important piece of equipment for me. I also focus on how the shoe holds during impact. I need enough stability to hold my foot in place while also allowing me to roll my left foot a little bit.”

Jessica will also be wearing apparel from FootJoy’s Women’s Performance Apparelrange and has been working closely with the team to not only find items that fit her style, but also influencing products in the development process based on her experience as a female athlete and one of the best female golfers in the world.

Jessica Korda added: “I really like the materials they use. They’re very flattering, the colours are excellent and everything is so comfortable whether you’re playing golf or wearing them off the course. Like footwear, they just have so many options for women, whether it’s long sleeve, short sleeve, pants, skorts or sun protection items. These are important to golfers, but also women in general.”

Jessica will continue her season at the US Women’s Open at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in North Carolina, which takes place from June 2-5.

FootJoy – The new Tour Alpha continues the legacy of ultimate stability in golf footwear

March 21, 2022 – FootJoy, the #1 Shoe in Golf, has launched the next evolution of golf footwear with the all-new Tour Alpha, and features the latest footwear technology to deliver the ultimate stability option with the added benefit of supreme comfort.

The Tour Alpha’s premium, power silhouette is packed with visible technology allowing golfers to see and feel the innovation, which is activated throughout each step of the swing sequence, empowering players to take total control of their game.

At the forefront of its innovation is the game-changing OPS technology – Optimised Performance Stabiliser – a three component innovation that locks-in the golfer’s foot to deliver superior feel, unrivalled traction and optimise power.

“Our Tour series has always been our most stable silhouette in the FootJoy portfolio, and the Tour Alpha is undoubtedly our most intelligent golf-specific innovation to date, which pushes the boundary of footwear technology with the OPS system driving performance at every step of the golf swing.

“With the innovation and golf-specific performance focus, the Tour Alpha is set to be golf footwear’s best-in-class and the journey to its launch is a testament to the brand’s relentless pursuit to innovate as we continue to deliver new products that support the golfer to perform when it matters most.” , says Guy Smith, Product Manager of FootJoy Footwear.

THE 3D MOULDED HEEL COUNTER

The 3D moulded heel provides a stiffer, lighter and aesthetically interesting rear structure that provides lower Achilles’ support and locks the golfer’s heel in place during the swing.

FTF DUAL DUROMETER MIDSOLE

A firm perimeter heel piece, combined with a soft-core midfoot piece. The soft midsole supports the foot with comfort while the firm heel centres the back foot for controlled balance during loading in the swing.

Note: The darker areas of the shoe lock the golfer into the swing for ultimate stability while the lighter areas provide more comfort than FJ has ever had on a Tour series shoe before.

A-FRAME SUPPORT SYSTEM

The A-frame is an external TPU structure that fuses the heel counter and the midsole together, to create synergy within the OPS and deliver ultimate stability at every stage of the swing.

“This golf shoe delivers pure power with every shot. It has that solid base that allows me to lock in and swing away with full force”, says Kevin Kisner.

BOA AND BOA AGAIN

The Tour Alpha takes the WRAPID Fit System powered by BOA to new levels, with a BOA and dual BOA offering.

Through extensive testing and pressure mapping the BOA technology is proven to alleviate significant pressure on the top of the golfer’s foot and enhance the golfer’s fit.

FootJoy introduces the WRAPID 2.0 fit system, featuring a dial on the heel and on the side, the dual BOA option is the next evolution of fit, alleviating pressure even further to help the golfer feel even more connected to the ground and further dials in that precise fit.

  • 12.7% more walking cushioning than Tour X
  • 10% more mobile in trail foot eversion during the swing vs Tour X, preventing the backfoot from rolling, inviting increased power efficiency through the swing
  • More balanced torsional support during the swing than Tour X

  • Availbility: 18th March 2022
  • RRP FJ Tour Alpha: Men’s Double BOA, 259€; Men’s BOA, 239€; Men’s, 209€.
