Honma Golf – Launch of the new irons of Justin Rose, the T//WORLD TW-MB Rose Proto

March 19, 2019 – With the announcement of the multi-year agreement of Honma Golf with Justin Rose, the Japanese company went to work closely with the English champion to develop a custom-fitting iron and following the pattern of his preferences. These are the new T//WORLD TW-MB, the latest and ultimate forged “Made in Japan” irons with the ‘Sakata’ label, which meet the needs of the 2016 Olympic champion, 2018 FedEx Cup winner and also in the 2018 Ryder Cup European Team.

The result of this design are these T//WORLD TW-MB Rose Proto irons with which Justin Rose declared that “you never miss the window”, referring to its optimal control. So much so that Justin has already won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, in just his second start on the PGA Tour with these Rose Proto irons. To celebrate it, Honma Golf is launching the new Rose Proto iron for experienced golfers, and of course for the fans of Justin Rose.

Thanks to the top quality of the materials, the high degree of accuracy and the state-of-the-art manufacture of the Japanese company it has been possible to create these irons following the most demanding specifications of the English player. The T//WORLD TW-MB Rose Proto irons stand out for the pointed silhouette of the traditional Japanese forging, with the straight upper edge typical of the blade, adding more space in between toe and heel to create a more upright format and playable feel.

One of the main requirements of Rose during the design was a precise control of spin in all irons. Rose has ideal spin numbers and can guess the spin of his shots within 200rpm with the naked eye, so Honma has risen to the challenge when making the golf clubs.

Honma has worked with the spin ratio corresponding to a male professional player (iron x 1,000, ex. 9,000 for the iron #9), and with the slots, which are 0.05mm deeper than in the TW747 series and narrower in pitch. In addition, the lie angle is 1º more upright than in the TW747P. And the width of the sole has become narrower and 2º of bounce have been added to make the follow-through more comfortable, with a sole of similar length to that of the TW727M irons.

Justin Rose has put his own personality and preferences into these blades:

“I’ve enjoyed helping create the perfect blade. The attention to details is incredible”.

“In my new irons I wanted to have a slightly longer blade than what I was using before, with a slightly longer toe and a more pointed toe. From the hosel up to the toe I wanted a nice angle to the little point where it then rounds out, because it makes it feel to me like it’s upright even though it isn’t. The reason I like that feel is because it makes me feel like I can be passive with my hands, because when the club looks flat to me I feel like I have to chase it with my right hand”, he said.

Finally, the cuts in the back of the blade define the distribution of masses in the muscle bar, while giving it a distinctive and very appealing aesthetic for good players.

Undoubtedly a luxury and high performance staff, for those who want to drive the golf ball on the course with a full package in functionality and performance, with the exclusivity granted by the ex-No1 of the world, Justin Rose.
