TaylorMade Golf – Keita Nakajima claims Maiden DP World Tour title with TP5 golf ball

April 1, 2024 – Team TaylorMade Athlete Keita Nakajima claimed his maiden DP World Tourvictory in style with a wire-to-wire win at the Hero India Open.  This is the ninth win globally for Team TaylorMade in the 2024 season so far.

Keita set the pace early with consecutive rounds of seven-under, putting him firmly in the driving seat. This was followed by a four-under round of 68, setting up a four shot lead going into the final round at DLF Golf & Country Club, concluding with a round of 73 to round out a comfortable four-shot victory.

Keita has a combination of P·7MC and P·7MB, choosing the P·7MC for his long irons affording him extra forgiveness, then transitions to the P·7MB for the remainder of his irons ensuring extra control should he end up approaching from fairway or rough.

Combined with four Milled Grind 4 wedges, as he finds the spin tread grooves allow him to target pins from a variety of distances.  His bag is rounded out with a TP Reserve B11 putter, which pairs the benefit of the pure roll grooves with the soft feel and crisp sound of a milled head. This all harmonising with the TP5 golf ball, as spin with wedges is something which Keita feels is extremely important in the game which made the golf ball choice easy.

“I’m very happy. Winning here on DP World Tour for the first time is a new feeling all in itself, but right now just very happy,” said Keita Nakajima.

“I felt very comfortable heading into the front nine with an eight stroke lead, but the back nine was playing very tough today and I didn’t have the best finish, but very happy to have gotten it done in the end.”

“There were a number of tough holes on the back and I was frustrated with my play finishing with three consecutive bogies and of course the double bogey, but fortunately I had a few strokes in the bank which I can credit back to my strong play on the front nine and the earlier rounds this week, so overall very proud of my performance.”

“The win definitely gives me a lot of confidence in myself and hoping now to take what I did this week and turn it into even more wins in the future.”

Keita continues to test the Qi10 family for the top end of his bag.

April 6, 2022 – TaylorMade Golf adds to its impressive roster of professional and amateur golfers with the announcement of a multi-year agreement with the No. 1 ranked men’s amateur golfer in the world, Keita Nakajima. The 21-year-old Japan native is set to play a full bag of TaylorMade equipment and wear TaylorMade apparel in competition, starting with The Masters this week in Augusta.

Nakajima is the third Japanese golfer to rise to No. 1 in the WAGR and has held the top spot for 63 weeks and counting. He owns an impressive list of wins worldwide including the Australian Amateur Championship, Japanese Amateur Championship, the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the Panasonic Open on the Japanese Tour with TaylorMade equipment in the bag.

Via a 25-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole with his Truss putter to secure the championship, Nakajima’s win at the 2021 Asia-Pacific Amateur earned him entry into this year’s Masters and Open Championship. Nakajima also secured a spot in the 2022 US Open through winning the Mark H. McCormack Medal as the World’s Top Amateur in 2021.

“TaylorMade equipment has been an integral part of my wins and success so far in my career and I am proud to formally be a part of Team TaylorMade. The people at TaylorMade have made me feel like family from the beginning and I am excited to join their team of athletes on tours across the world using the highest performing equipment in golf,” says Keita Nakajima.

Nakajima has had TaylorMade equipment in the bag during his amateur career, including at his PGA Tour debut at the ZOZO Championship in 2021 where he finished T-28. He then used the 60x Carbon Twist Face Stealth Plus driver amongst a full bag of TaylorMade equipment at the Sony Open earlier this year finishing 41st in the 145-man field.

He played a practice round at the ZOZO Championship with his now fellow Team TaylorMade Collin Morikawa, who said of Nakajima’s game: “Keita striped the ball, that is one of the biggest things I saw. Everything sounded amazing. He was hitting it really straight. He is someone that is going to have a great future ahead of him.” Nakajima is currently enrolled at the Nippon Sport Science University in Tokyo.

“Keita’s decision to join Team TaylorMade reflects our continued commitment to putting the most innovative golf equipment in the hands of the game’s best players across all tours and levels. At his young age, Keita has already shown the golf world his immense talent and winning mindset during his ascension to becoming and sustaining the World’s No. 1 Amateur Ranking.
