Peter Millar – Voted Apparel Supplier of the Year title at annual TGI Golf Awards

February 12, 2019 – Luxury golf lifestyle brand, Peter Millar enjoyed a stellar evening at the recent TGI Golf annual awards dinner, capturing the 2018 ‘Apparel Supplier of the Year’ award in recognition of its outstanding apparel range and impeccable customer service.

Held at the prestigious Trump Turnberry Resort, TGI Golf’s supplier awards are voted for by the group’s 500 plus partners across the UK & Ireland through its supplier survey, where brands are rated in a number of different categories.

Peter Millar was also nominated in the coveted ‘Supplier of the Year’ category. This is, in itself, an impressive achievement when considering the brand’s selective distribution within the group, compared to the leading hardware brands.

Mark Hilton, Peter Millar’s International Managing Director commented, “We are incredibly proud to have won this award as it recognises what was a very prosperous year for the brand, as well as the hard work and passion that resonates through our entire team.”

“This is the second time we have claimed this award and we’d like to thank all of the TGI Golf partners who voted for us. We are committed to enhancing our product range and renowned customer service in the years to come and, of course, retaining our title in 2019.”

Founded in 2001, the Peter Millar line of golf lifestyle clothing and accessories has become, in just a few years, the standard bearer for discerning and demanding individuals on the golf course, in the office and on the town. The Peter Millar product line embraces timeless style with a modern flair and a keen attention to detail, emphasising bright colours, bold interpretations of classic patterns and luxury fabrications from some of the finest mills in the world.

Eddie Reid, TGI Golf Managing Director, said: “Every one of TGI Golf’s Supplier Awards is voted for by the Partners via our annual Supplier Survey, which gives added gravitas to the winners. Each supplier is scored by its stockists on a number of categories ranging from product quality and customer service to delivery times and returns policy.

“Peter Millar once again scored tremendously well across the board with its long-standing commitment to product quality and customer service giving the retailer real confidence in the brand and this was reflected by Peter Millar being crowned Apparel Supplier of the Year.”

Peter Millar – Acquisition of Mossimo Gianulli’s G/FORE Brand

January 19, 2018 – Luxury apparel brand Peter Millar announced today that the company has acquired Los Angeles-based G/FORE, the golf-inspired sportswear and accessories brand created and designed by veteran fashion innovator Mossimo Giannulli.

Giannulli launched G/FORE in 2011 with the vision of developing a global lifestyle brand deriving its DNA from the sport of golf and the stylishly rebellious spirit that has earned the designer international recognition. Beginning with a collection of premium golf gloves in vibrant colours, G/FORE has expanded to include golf shoes, accessories and apparel for men and women.

“I love the game of golf, and as a designer it was obvious that the timing was perfect for a lifestyle brand that was hipper, younger and more outspoken than anything on the market,” Mossimo Giannulli said. “By starting with gloves, we were able to establish credibility as a golf brand first, then add shoes, apparel and other accessories for a complete collection.”

Giannulli describes G/FORE as luxury sportswear inspired by and designed for the sport of golf, emphasizing the “playability” of the product line. “We’re not a technical or athletic brand, but we’ve learned how to put technical performance into our products,” he said. “Everything is 100 percent suited for playing golf – athletic on the inside, fashion on the outside.”

The partnership with Raleigh, N.C.-based Peter Millar began with a collaboration on a co-branded golf shoe, an idea hatched by Giannulli and Peter Millar CEO Scott Mahoney. The shoe was an immediate hit at the 2017 PGA Show, introducing the unlikely but intriguing pairing of two distinctively different brands. The decision for Peter Millar to acquire G/FORE was the organic result of ongoing interactions between the two companies.

“Our intent is to let Moss express his creative genius for design, branding and marketing while we build a solid foundation for the business with our back-end expertise,” said Scott Mahoney. “Moss has the rare combination of experience, design vision and name recognition that will enable us to take this brand worldwide.”

Scott Mahoney added that the process of transitioning business components including sourcing, inventory, financing, forecasting and e-commerce to Peter Millar is underway and will be completed in the coming year. G/FORE will also have the distinction of being associated with Peter Millar parent company Richemont, the Swiss luxury goods group whose portfolio of leading international “Maisons” includes Chloé, Alfred Dunhill, Piaget, Van Cleef & Arpels, Baume & Mercier, Cartier and Montblanc, among others.

Peter Millar was launched in 2001 as a high-end, sophisticated luxury sportswear collection designed with a classical American and European influences. The company continues to experience impressive growth in the U.S. and internationally with products sold in a wide range of retail channels, from Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom to specialty merchants, golf clubs and resorts worldwide.

In fact, garments like this Polka Dot shirt (picture) are already selling very fast, after only the first few days, when the competition still hasn’t hit the course. The involvement of Peter Millar has been a little different from most other licensees, as the brand, which recently opened the first golf store outside of the United States, in the Old Course Hotel of St Andrews, has worked with other specialist licensees to produce the first ever range of tartan Ryder Cup products, for men and ladies, using the official Ryder Cup tartan.
