March 22, 2015 – Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) and Mutant Golf have announced an exciting new partnership. From March 2015 Mutant Golf becomes the new official golf sponsor of the Tour for the whole season.

With this sponsorship, this brand will have visibility in all the championships and in the tees and grids. They will also supply some products and drivers to the LDET, and will offer special deals to the LDET players.

March 22, 2015 – The Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) has announced that the Korean company Volvik Inc. will be the official title sponsor of the 2015 season: Volvik LDET 2015. The inaugural eventof the Volvik LDET will take place next 10th & 11th April at Bro Hof Slott with the Sweden LDET Championship.

As a title sponsor, Volvik will also be the official ball of the entire season. Volvik has acquired a reputation based on perfect quality control and innovative development, quickly becoming one of the most significant and trusted golf ball manufacturers in the world.

For the Korean brand, the tour is a step in its global growth. “We, Volvik Inc., have been investing in bringing in great LPGA Tour golfers for being a top golf company in the world”, says Moon Kyung Ahn, President of Volvik Inc. “Lately, we have been doing our very best to be the market leader in Europe as well as in America. We are expecting LDET to be one of the best solutions to achieve our goals in Europe. NINE DESTINATIONS FOR THE LDET 2015

Meanwhile players are already training. The LDET 2015 organization ensures a calendar full of emotions with a season that has scheduled the Netherlands and Estonia as new countries. The kick-off will be in Sweden next 10th and 11th of April, a scenario where the circuit was already present in its first season and where it now returns with great force.

Sweden is the first of nine destinations where hitters amaze us with their bombs. Golfers and long driver lovers will have the opportunity to see them in Estonia, Slovenia, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Spain, France, and a surprise destination outside Europe to finish the season.

The arrival of LDET to these new countries means that the circuit is conquering Europe at high speed. The tour continues its consolidation in many countries like Spain that are backing a championship of Long Drivers European Tour. The Spanish LDET Champ will again be held in Mijas Golf International (Mijas, Málaga) -one of the reference venues of the Costa del Sol- for the third year on 11th and 12th of September.

Among the surprises of the season there is The Masters LDET Cup, a final tournament that last year brought the hitters to Lumine Golf (Tarragona, Spain). This season it will probably be hosted in a country outside the European borders.

February 14, 2015 – Colmar, the Italian brand for well-dressed golfers, has become the official supplier of the Long Drivers European Tour (LDET).

LDET has proudly announced a new partnership with Colmar, the Italian-based provider of Premium golfing apparel which already dresses players like Alejandro Cañizares, Edouardo Molinari, Andrea Pavan or Marco Crespi on the European Tour.

As the official clothing sponsor, Colmar will be providing custom golf apparel to the LDET staff for the entire year and will be one of the sponsors for the whole season.

The new sponsorship deal comes just one week after the LDET announced a spectacular 2015 calendar with nine events to play.

Long Drive – The European Champion Joe Miller hopes to go even further in 2015

December 5, 2014 – The Englishman Joe Miller, European Long Drive Champion in 2014, has won in Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, France… every single tournament of the Long Drive European Tour (LDET) in which he has played this season. His incontestable superiority is a result of his exceptional physical strength, and his hard training for six days per week where he invests 3 to 4 hours daily with weights, cardio, endurance and body-building, focused on maximizing his long driver power. So he, with his golf ball, has become a regular visitor to the 400-and-many-more yards off the tee.

The only blot this year for the Brocket Hall Golf and Callaway Golf ambassador happened in the Finals of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship in Las Vegas, where he lost in the semi-finals against the new world champion, the American Jeff Flagg, who was using the same driver model as his, a Callaway Golf X2 HOT. Miller was world champion in 2010, second in 2013, now third in 2014, and in 2015 he’ll try to repeat the feat of becoming the ‘bête noire’ of the Americans hitters with a new fight for the world championship belt, and the coveted check for $ 250,000.

Not at all put out by this, we interviewed him for MyGolfWay.com at The Masters LDET Cup, the final round of the European Tour 2014, held last November in Lumine Golf (Tarragona), where he came to support the Tour, collect his trophy as European Champion and the corresponding prize – a cheque for 10,000 euros.

MYGOLFWAY: We’d like to know what you think about the 2014 season. You are European champion, but not World Champion…

JOE MILLER: It’s been a great year for me. I’ve won 14 out of 14 competitions in the last two years in Europe. That means I’ve won every competition I’ve entered in Europe in the last two years. So, it’s been great.

The LDET tour has really grown this year, with some really good, big competitions. Obviously I’ve won the Order of Merit, which is great. So I’ve come here to Lumine Golf really just to support the guys and to take the trophy and the cheque.

The World Long Drive Championships in Las Vegas went ahead as planned. It’s a weird tournament when there’s a month gap between the qualifying round of the top eight, but it did work out. As long as I give myself a chance every year, that’s all I can ask for. But to be European Champion is really nice.

MGW: It looks like the level is increasing in the World Championship. More players are appearing who train hard to be at the top.

JM: There are always new guys in the Top-8, which is the weird thing. And like you say, every year there is someone new who is training hard and that is just the way this sport goes. There are always new guys turning up, competing and doing well. So the whole Long Drive thing is growing and doing well, and getting lots of publicity, thanks to guys like yourself, and magazines, etc. So it’s growing, and it’s good to see.

MGW: As the King of Europe in this golf discipline, how are you seen by your U.S. opponents? Are they fearful of you?

JM: Well, the guys over there are not as good as the guys over here, ha, ha… It’s just that there are a lot more of them. The standard here is as high but we are fewer. They know that when we go over there, we are trouble. Unfortunately this year didn’t work out, but next year we’ll get them!

MGW: And what about your plans for 2015?

JM: More of the same. Hopefully win again in Europe. Keep the good run going. To win like this for three years would be great. I also hope to go to the World Championships and try to do better there. But I’ll just continue to do what I do. I do lots of corporate activities, like with Callaway where there are new clubs coming out next year. So, basically more of the same, but hopefully bigger and better for the LDET tour and everyone else.

MGW: Are you going to change to the new Callaway driver then?

JM: It hasn’t been released yet, and I don’t know the specs to come out, but we are going to go with the Callaway XR, which is the new driver for next year. It’s going to be a lot better, it’s going to be longer. Obviously they have to take the information that we give them for the Long Drive equipment, and design a driver for that. The X2 HOT was the best driver by far this year, and the XR will be even better. So I’ll stick hopefully with the Callaway XR next year, and we’ll see what happens.

MGW: Also in 2014 you are getting more social, I’ve seen you more often in the networks…

JM: Yes. It’s been a really good year for me. Media-wise, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter… getting a lot more recognition. And it’s thanks all we do, and thanks to Xavier Eusebio and the Long Drivers European Tour. Couldn’t ask for better. Shame about the World Championships, though.

Long Drive – CJ Hellström, champion of The Masters LDET Cup 2014

November 17, 2014 – CJ Hellström has proclaimed champion of The Masters LDET Cup after winning the Spanish Adrián Sánchez by 2 sets to 1 with a last blow of 352 yards, in the final of the last tournament of the Long Drivers European Tour, held at Lumine Golf on Saturday the 15th.

It was not the best shot of the Swedish this season, but it served to snatch the title from Sánchez’s hands that he seemed to touch. The absence of Joe Miller on the tee has paved the way to other big European hitters.

The competition take place in a special tee designed for this occasion in the 18th hole of Lumine Golf Resort. The skyline of Port Aventura was on the back and The Masters LDET Cup started punctually at 11 am, with a strong and crossed wind that conditioned the flight of the Volvik Vista golf balls, dressed in yellow and orange colours.

The first bombs of the day in Group 1 came from the English Scott Beaven and the Spanish Adrián Sánchez. Beaven was the best with the longest ball of the day with a shot of 376 yards, winning a prize of a luxury car driving experience sponsored by Rent Bull.Sánchez finished second with a mark of 372y. After the four rounds the best scores of the other players were for the Scottish amateur Martin Rogalski (362y) and the South African Dewald Lubbe (361y), all of them classified for Quarter Finals. The Spanish Sergio González (291y) and the Swedish Goran Hellström (290y) went out of next round.

The hitters had offered their best drives to entertain the spectators at the stand. In Group 2, came in action John McSloy, No.2 of LDET ranking. The Scottish was the third with a mark of 344y. Surprisingly, the first of the group was the Danish amateur long driver Frederik Frost with an incredible bomb of 374y. The other players who were qualified for Quarters were the Swedish CJ Hellström (352y) and the German Timo Petrasch (340y). The Spanish amateur Javier Romera (303y), winner of the Spanish Long Drive LDET Championship 2014 of his category, was eliminated.

The players could follow their swing and fly ball analysis thanks to TrackMan. One of the leader systems in golf stats has left marks as the ball speed. On the amateur category the European Long Drive Champion was the Danish Frederick Frost, who beats the Spanish Javier Romera in one set of six balls with a shot of 350y.

After lunch, the Quarter Finals played were: Scott Beaven vs. Timo Petrasch, CJ Hellström vs. Martin Rogalski, Frederik Frost vs. Dewald Lubbe and Adrián Sánchez vs. one of the front-runners, John McSloy.

In the semifinal, we saw two high voltage duels. In one of them, Hellström needed three sets to beat Beaven. And in the other, Adrián Sánchez, cheered on by a large group of supporters, got the spot to the final after winning Lubbe in three sets. In the fight for the third place, the English won.

The big final of the last tournament of the season was very exciting on the tee and on for the crowd. The wind slackened and CJ Hellström needed three sets to break the hopes of Adrian Sánchez.

The English Joe Miller did not participated but he came to pick up the check of 10,000 € and the cup that crowns him as the European Long Drive Champion 2014, title already certified in France last month.

Long Drive – France could decide the 2014 European Long Drive Champion

October 16, 2014 – The Long Drive show arrives to France thanks to Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) to celebrate the eight tournament of the season that will be hold in the city of Mandelieu-La Napoule next Friday 17^th & Saturday 18^th October. The best European hitters will play for the first time at Domaine de Barbossi, one of the best golf resorts in the south of the country.

France will see the most spectacular golf tournament that arrives into the final stretch of its second season, where LDET reaped successes in all new the countries. This 2014, the bombers have exhibited their drivers in new scenarios: Belgium, Germany, UK, Slovenia and Italy. The last event of the season, before the LDET Finals in November, is the perfect test to show the long drive player’s power.

In every event, the level of the competition has increased, but the English Joe Miller has shown that he is the #1 for a reason: ten victories in a raw in the Long Drivers European Tour (four in 2013). If he plays, he wins. He is intractable after reach six of the seven tournaments, but in the last one stop in Spain, he really suffered to beat Adrian Sánchez, one of the young long drive values in Spain.

They were the main characters of a tournament where hitters exceeded the barrier of 400 yards. In Spain, Joe Miller blows this mark with a final bomb of 412 yards (his best ball this season). The numbers are clear: if he wins the French championship, he will be the LDET 2014 Champion.

Long Drive – Lumine Golf will host The Masters LDET Cup 14th and 15th November

September 25, 2014 – Lumine Golf has been confirmed as the venue for the final event of the 2014 Long Drivers European Tour season, The Masters LDET Cup, on the 14th and 15th November 2014.

In what is set to be a thrilling climax to the second season of the Long Drivers European Tour, the Masters LDET Cup event will have players like the English golfer Joe Miller, 2010 World and 2013 European Champion, the Scottish player John McSloy, the English Scott Beaven and the South African Dewald Lubbe, among others competing for one of the most coveted titles in the world of long driving.

This will be the first time that Lumine Golf hosts a long drive competition.

“We are certainly looking forward to working alongside the LDET tour to make this a truly memorable event for all involved”, commented Calle Carlsson, General Manager of the Troon managed resort. “We pride ourselves on hosting innovative golf events that bring new people into the game and I certainly believe the lure of watching some of the biggest hitters in the game will achieve that”.

Long Drive – Joe Miller wins Spain LDET Championship, with Adrián Sánchez third

September 7, 2014 – The English Joe Miller has won the seventh Long Drive European Tour (LDET) tournament, played at the 13th hole of Los Lagos in Mijas Golf International, after beating his compatriot Dan Konyk by 2-0, in a tournament where several hitters exceeded the barrier of 400 yards. Miller was on the verge of falling in the semifinals after the Spanish Adrián Sánchez put him in trouble at the semifinals.

The Spain LDET Championship started with extremely hot weather. Competing in Group 1 were the pros Jamie Kinnell (Sco) and Timo Petrasch (Ger), and the Spanish amateur players Antonio Moreno and Sergio González. After hitting six balls, Petrasch qualified directly to quarters with a mark of 342 yards. In the pairing, Sergio González (316y) and Jamie Kinnel (311y) went to matchplays.

In Group 2 were the pros Dan Konyk (Eng) and Mauro Benaglio (Swi), and the amateur players Marc Apfelbaum and Jesús Garrido. The English Dan Konyk was the best of this group with a shot of 358 yards. The other players who qualified were: Benaglio (341y) and Garrido (311y).

The highlight in Group 3 was the Spanish Miguel Pérez and the Scottish John McSloy (No2). McSloy showed his power and struck all his own records with an incredible hit of 386y, that led him directly to quarters. Other players who went to the next round were Miguel Pérez (326y) and Javier Romera (Spa, 325y).

The wind started to blow and the tournament’s qualifying rounds resumed with Group 4, where Joe Miller (Eng), the current No1 LDET ranking, went into action. No doubt, as usual he went directly to quarter finals with a bomb of 390 yards, his second best score. The best hits of the other players in this group were: Adrián Sánchez (Spa, 355y) and Fabien Trillard (Fra, 347y).

Spanish amateur players have shown their power too. Some of them reached distances beyond 300 yards. Javier Romera won the second edition of the Spanish Long Drive Amateur LDET Championship. Romera beated Jesús Garrido in the final thanks to a shot of 332 yards.

After matchplays, the quarter finals pairings were: Timo Petrasch (314y) vs Adrián Sánchez (381y); Joe Miller (401y) vs Fabien Trillard (344y); Dan Konyk (380y) vs Miguel Pérez (357y); and John McSloy (402y) vs Mauro Benaglio (347y).

In the semifinals the audience enjoyed a great show with two high voltage duels. After releasing the first six balls out of the grid in the first set, Adrian Sánchez struggled with Joe Miller in a second set that was decided by inches: Sánchez (394,3y) and Miller (394,5y). The Spanish player was unable to force the third set, but he finished third after beating John McSloy in the consolation final. McSloy fell in his semifinal against Konyk, who also reached the 401y.

In the final of the 7th stop of the Tour, Joe Miller and Dan Konyk also achieved above the 400y. In the first set, Konyk shot all the balls outside the grid. And in the second one, Miller did not forgive Dan and defeated his fellow with an incredible howitzer of 412 yards, the longest ball of the day.

The next LDET’s stop of the season will be hosted by Domaine du Barbossi in Cannes (France). The France LDET Championship 17th & 18th October will take place.

September 4, 2014 – The Long Drive show returns to Spain thanks to the Long Drivers European Tour (LDET), to celebrate the seventh season tournament that will be hold tomorrow Friday 5th and Saturday 6th of September. The best European hitters are back at Mijas Golf Internacional course (Malaga, Spain), where the second edition of the Spanish Amateur Long Drive LDET Championship will also be played.

The most spectacular golf tour arrives to Spain in the final stretch of its second season, during which LDET has reaped successes in all new countries. This 2014, the bombers have exhibited their drivers in new scenarios: Belgium, Germany, UK, Slovenia and Italy. There are only two more events and the Spain LDET Championship could be a litmus test for winning the title of the Long Drive European Champion.

In the race for the title there is a name that stands out above all: Joe Miller. The English player remains intractable after winning five of the six tournaments –in Czech Republic he was absent due to personal reasons-. Miller made big hits this season and he was almost about to blow the mark of 400 yards, with 397,4y in Germany.

The hitter has not released the top of the ranking(#1 / 5,000 points) and he has nine straight victories in the LDET Tour (including the 4 of last season). Joe Miller has been also World Champion RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship 2010. The Scottish player John McSloy is in great form and he stands second in the ranking. And Dewald Lubbe, from South Africa, is the only player that has a tournament in his pocket, due to Miller’s absence in the Czech round.

Representing the Spanish long drive there is Miguel Pérez, a 20 years old player born in Malaga, who has participated in two tournaments: In the German stop, he reached the 1/8 final; and in the Italian one he arrived to the Quarterfinals facing Joe Miller.

Miguel is the thirteenth in the rankingand this is his third tournament. He says that he faces the challenge “with many more nerves than the previous two tournaments. I am a member of Mijas Golf and my friends will come to see me and I have more pressure. I think my evolution was good and I hope to do much better next year,” he adds.

On the tee, we will also see another Spanish player: Adrián Sánchez (23 years old). He is another of the young talents of the Spanish long drive, who already participated in the final tournament of the last season LDET held in Torremirona.

The Long Drive Tour is also traveling around Europe looking for new talents in this specific sport. Therefore, the competition takes place also in each country with local players. The current Spanish Amateur Long Drive LDET Championis Jesus Garrido, who is coming back to participate in Mijas and will try to defend his title.
