Long Drive – The World Long Drive Spain project is underway, with places for the World Long Drive 2023 finals

May 3, 2023 – The tandem made up by Gerard Pera, pioneer and greatest exponent of the Spanish Long Drive, and the businessman Octavi Puyol, has launched a project to back Long Drive in Spain and Europe. This consists of the creation of a new tour focused on this discipline, which already has the rights of the World Long Drive (WLD).

The extraordinary and exciting news for fans of bombing cannon shots from a tee comes after the two professionals and friends reached an agreement with the American entity to organize a Spanish Tour, similar to the World Long Drive events, which will help the promotion and development of the Long Drive in Spain and Europe.

The agreement sealed with Ryan Reisbeck, event director of the 2023 WLD Tour, means that the new World Long Drive Spain Tour – although this is probably not its final name – will provide direct access to the world finals in each category: Open Division, Senior Division, Amateur Division and Women’s Division.

“It is the first time in history that there will be rights to this competition in Europe, and we hope that many powerful brands will join in supporting this spectacular modality”, said Gerard Pera, excited about this first big step.

After the success of the negotiations, the next step will be the organizing of a tour in the Iberian Peninsula, which will initially have two regular tournaments, both in Spain, or one in Spain and the other in Andorra. In addition, Handmade Custom Clubs has already been confirmed as the official fitter of the Spanish Tour.

At the same time, efforts will be made to establish alliances with the European Long Drive Games (ELDG), an existing tour that is held in Central European countries, with two events in Germany and one in Hungary, plus another in the United Kingdom and a final during the season.

If the integration is completed, the best hitters from the events on the new tour will qualify for the European finals, whose winners will have the chance to go directly to the final of the World Long Drive Tour in the United States, something that had not been achieved before now.

Thus, the longest Spanish hitters with the driver can now get prepared and start training hard, because one of those places at stake might be for them.

Gerard Pera, who has recently been named Ambassador of Callaway Spain, has the support of ASNA, Holiday Golf, Callaway Golf, Puppies Andorra and Handmade Custom Clubs.
