Mizuno Golf – Golf Digest’s awards domination with multiple wins at the 2023 Hot List

March 14, 2023 – Mizuno Golf has once again proven its excellence in the golf industry by winning numerous awards at the 2023 Hot List from one of the most competitive golf community and news outlets: Golf Digest.

With its innovative technology and exceptional quality, Mizuno Golf has secured its position as a top-performing brand in the game.

MIZUNO ST-Z 230 DRIVERS
Golf Digest: “The multilevel face-thickness pattern creates more consistent ball speed across a wider area and is further enhanced by the weight-saving carbon-composite crown and sole sections. A heavy back weight also provides stability on mis-hits.”

MIZUNO ST-Z 230 FAIRWAY WOODS
Golf Digest: “These fairway woods likely fit a better player’s eye, but they neatly hide the elements that allow them to play with the additional forgiveness average golfers need. Those include a lightweight carbon-composite crown that frees up mass for a rear weight screw and internal weight pad. Together, they increase stability on off-center hits and produce a higher launch.”

MIZUNO PRO 223 IRONS
Golf Digest: “Legend has it that Mizuno founder Rihachi Mizuno required the company’s baseballs to bounce precisely to his eye level—4 feet, 5 inches—when dropped from a height of 16.5 feet, or they were rejected. Such dedication to precision continues in this iron. Some might say this set is ahead of its time. We say it’s a potential template for players irons right now.”

MIZUNO PRO 225 IRONS
Golf Digest: “Despite having a hollow body, the Pro 225 is the most classic-looking of the group, and it might be the peppiest, too. Some hollow-body irons use elastomer inside the head to dampen sound (which can reduce face flex), but the Pro 225 goes without an elastomer. Instead, sound and feel are controlled by the rigidness of the body.”

MIZUNO JPX923 Tour IRONS
Golf Digest: “For such a straightforward-looking iron there is a lot to admire. To appeal to better players, Mizuno shortened the clubhead length in the 6-iron through pitching wedge compared to its previous model, the JPX921 Tour.”

MIZUNO JPX923 Forged IRONS
Golf Digest: “Distance is the desire here, and the ball takes off like a dragster racing toward the green thanks to a little extra zip on the 4- through 6-iron, which feature a wider back-milled “micro-slot” deep within the sole cavity The extra-thin face yields a deeper center of gravity for an easier launch.”

MIZUNO JPX923 Hot Metal IRONS
Golf Digest: “The clubhead is larger than its Hot Metal Pro counterpart, offering comfort at address for the less-skilled. Still, there are highly meaningful design properties that players of any level can appreciate.”

MIZUNO JPX923 Hot Metal Pro IRONS
Golf Digest: “This iron features a relatively compact shape and thin topline to fit the eye of better players seeking workability as much as distance. Because so much weight is placed low and back, the lofts can be aggressive without sacrificing height.”

MIZUNO JPX923 Hot Metal HL IRONS
Golf Digest: “Mizuno estimates close to half of all golfers might be flying a 7-iron farther than a low-lofted 5-iron. That led to a change in thinking: The way to increase distance in this club is to make the lofts weaker by 2 to 3 degrees compared to others in the JPX923 line.”

MIZUNO T-22 WEDGES
Golf Digest: “The T22 is one of the few forged models in this category. Mizuno takes pride in offering a variety of options in wedges just like it does with irons. Also, the X grind has extreme heel, toe and trailing-edge relief to bring out the short-game artist in you.”

Mizuno’s consistent presence in these coveted lists remains a testament to Mizuno’s meticulous and unique forging process and years of creating performance gear to take players to the next level.

HONMA Golf – Five medals in the Golf Digest’s 2021 Hot List

February 18, 2021 – In only the third year participating in Golf Digest Magazine’s Hot List, HONMA Golf equipment was awarded five medals for their 2021 line up of golf clubs. The annual club test honored a variety of Honma clubs, irons, driver, fairway woods and hybrids. The T//World GS (Gain Speed) family of clubs and the TR21 lines are represented among the five medals, attesting to HONMA’s beautifully-crafted products that are designed with advanced technology and playability for a wide range of golfers.

Leading the awards for HONMA on the Hot List is the TR21X irons which received gold in the ‘players-distance’ category, and the TR21 H hybrid with silver. Released late fall of 2020, the TR21 clubs complete the previously-launched TR20 driver/iron family in distinctive style. HONMA fitting experiences in the course have received enormous praise from consumers and pros. Solid, responsive feel, workability and consistent, trust-inspiring launch and ball flight are just some of the reasons HONMA’s TR20 and TR21 lines are converting new players week after week.

Golfers seeking high launch, long carry distance and spin control have a beautifully-crafted option in the new TR21X iron with a back design shaped like a beautiful blade iron with a slightly longer confidence-building shape. The hollow design has a heavy internal tungsten bar low in the club head which allows HONMA’s team to move the TR21X’s center of gravity as deep and low as possible. The design increases launch and improves the club’s MOI for higher initial launch with less twisting on off-center hits. The TR21X’s high-strength steel, thin, fast L-Cup design, increases speed while the injected foam inside the hollow body construction optimizes its feel and acoustics.

TR21 H Hybrids feature a beautifully simple, compact profile that inspires confidence to hit long approach shots close to the pin. Designed for crisp turf interaction to mimic the feel and flight of a well struck iron shot, TR21 H will help golfers hit more greens from a variety of distances and lies. An SUS630 body and thin high-strength steel face with variable-thickness design delivers hot ball speed while a centrally-located sole weight optimizes the CG for solid feel.

TR21 H is available in 18º, 21º and 24º lofts with high-performance Honma Made-in-Japan Sakata VIZARD shafts in 65-, 75-gram options. HONMA’s patented non-rotating hosel system allows loft and lie to be adjusted +/- 1 degree while keeping the shaft spine optimized.

The highly-anticipated T//World GS Driver, T//World GS Fairway and T/World GS Irons were all Silver Medal Selections on the 2021 Hot List. The GS line is designed to help golfers gain speed which translates to more distance. Honma Takumi and their 60-year history of craftsmanship worked in partnership with the North American engineering team in designing the unique characteristic of these modern shaped, technology-packed clubs.

Honma Golf – The TW-G6 golf ball, silver medal in the Golf Digest’s Hot List 2018

April 24, 2018 – Honma Golf, a leading global brand in innovative artisanal golf equipment, has been awarded with its first medal in the Golf Digest’s Hot List 2018 golf balls, the list of the prestigious international golf magazine with the best golf balls in the market this season.

The product evaluated by the panel of experts is the Honma TW G6 golf ball, and it has been awarded the silver medal in the price category of “Dozen over $36”. This is the first time it has been through the Golf Digest analysis: Hot List 2018 of Golf Digest balls.

The review concludes: “Designed for golfers with fast swing speeds, this six-layer ball has a soft core surrounded by highly resilient ionomer layers to improve energy transfer for more driver distance. For all the firmness on the inside, the urethane cover os there to provide soft feel.”

The Honma TW G6 is the only golf ball on the market with 6-layer technology, which should merit the gold medal, so it is very probable that the silver medal is due to having scored low in the Demand category. Its performance will surely be a talking point in the near future. Its RRP in Europe is € 69.95 per dozen.

After the gold medal awarded to the Beres IS-06 irons, this is the second prize that Golf Digest has given in 2018 to the products of the Honma Golf Japanese brand.

The Medal Table of Golf Digest ‘Hot List’ 2015

Medallero-Hot-List-Golf-Digest-2015

March 4, 2015 – Like every year, we’ve waited for the ‘Hot List’ issue of the Golf Digest Spain magazine (the last to be published by Unidad Editorial), not only to find out about how the expert panel of Golf Digest U.S. evaluates the novelties of the golf club market, but above all to work out, on paper, how the medals fall by brand. Its a reference, for MyGolfWay.com, which serves to contextualize the ‘arms race’ of the golf industry, and doesn’t pass by unnoticed in the executive headquarters of the different multinationals. And the truth is that there are major changes in the ranking compared with previous seasons.

On the front cover, a driver adorned by brilliants, is suggestive of the glistening jewels which today’s golf clubs have become in the golf bag. Although inside the magazine this year, in terms of design and image, it doesn’t look as if they’ve made quite as much effort as before.

Golf-Digest-Hot-List-PingIn the Golf Digest 2015 #HotList the number of products has continued rising. 307 models have been revised and up to 111 clubs have been reflected in its pages, including Drivers (14), Fairway Woods (11), Hybrids (13), Irons (35), Wedges (11) and Putters (25), considered in their view to be worthwhile for the consumer. And if the golf equipment consumption seems to have passed its worst stagnation, it must be said that innovation and technology applied by the manufacturer have not ceased. This is the real engine of the golf equipment industry, so there’s no doubt that golfers will be seduced by highly attractive articles in this year’s large market to renew their material and play with the most advanced clubs of the moment.

This is the fourth revision of MyGolfWay.com with our own annual report with the medal table by brands, which reveals differences between rankings. In 2014 there were few changes compared to 2013, but this 2015 brings big surprises with regard to 2014. Callaway has jumped from 3rd to 1st place with 12 golds, although it doesn’t beat the total of 15 golds won by Ping in 2014. Ping, with10 golds, now takes 2nd place. Titleist, with 9 golds, climbs one place to 3rd, while Mizuno, with 8 golds, rises two places to 4th. The latter is to the detriment of TaylorMade, also with 8 golds, but a silver less than Mizuno, which makes it slide from 2nd to 5th place. And still in the 6th position is the brand of the No.1 World Ranking player, Nike Golf.

Bearing in mind the computation of medals by multinationals, the combined Callaway/Odyssey is further highlighted with 18, surpassing its 16 golds achieved in the previous edition, and bettering last year’s total medals with 20 golds and silvers together.
