TaylorMade Golf – Sergio Garcia trusts in the M1 Driver to be leader on Tour again
November 12, 2015 – The new M1 Driver of TaylorMade Golf is in the bag of a lot of Tour players now, and also in the bag of the Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia. He began playing it in the last CIMB Classic of Kuala Lumpur Golf, founding 10 fairways and 17 greens in the first round. Yesterday, he hit 14 of 14 fairways and 17 greens during the opening round of BMW Masters in Shangai. Looking at his stats, at first glance Sergio is Nº1 in Driving Accuracy (100%), and Nº7 in Driving Distance (292y) in the current event.
Numbers that make it clear how well the Spanish player and his new TaylorMade Golf equipment, the M1 Driver and PSi Irons, are coming together. His 64, 8 under, yesterday makes him leader after the first round for the first time in two years, since the 2013 Nedbank Golf Challenge, and at Lake Malaren GC he has tied his lowest round of the season, to lead by one after the opening round.
THE FIRST TIME OF SERGIO GARCIA TESTING THE M1
Sergio García values shot shape and playability off the tee. This was what happened the first time he hit the M1 Driver.
He was surprised by the carbon fibre crown. He is a big fan of Formula 1 and he knows it is a very light and strong material. He thinks the sound is more like a wooden wood, the feeling is softer, and the ball comes out hotter.
“I like to feel I can draw it, I can fade it, I can hit it high, I can hit it low…”, says Sergio Garcia. “I can hit between 10 or 15 yards longer carry… The ball is coming out with a little bit less spin but at the same time I am still able to turn it, which was the important thing to me… I think for an amateur definitely will help too”.
We will carrying watching developments in the BMW Masters 2015, because the driver M1 will probably be a decisive club this week on the European Tour.
