July 4, 2016 – The ECCO Golf ambassador Thongchai Jaidee closed with a superb round of 68 to win the European Tour’s Open de France by four shots on Sunday.
Competing in the timeless ECCO World Class design, the 46-year-old Thai pro entered the final round with the solo lead, making four birdies and just one bogey en route to capturing his eighth European Tour title with an impressive 11-under-par total of 273.
“I’m very happy to have my family here this week together and also really happy to win the tournament here,” commented Thongchai Jaidee.
“I’ve been here many, many years and I think especially this week, and it’s a special week for me to win the tournament out here.”
Jesper Thuen, Head of Asia-Pacific and responsible for sponsorship at ECCO Golf, added: “Thongchai has won over 20 times in countries all around the world, and to add this prestigious title to his resume by beating such a strong field on a course as tough as Le Golf National is an outstanding achievement. We’re thrilled that he continues to choose to put his trust in our footwear as he competes at the top of the men’s game on both the European and PGA Tours.”
One of golf’s most premium shoes, the ECCO World Class has uppers crafted from leathers tanned using the proprietary ECCO HYDROMAX treatment. This helps provide long-lasting suppleness to protect a player’s feet against even the harshest weather. Also supporting comfort and performance are:

- A three-material outsole combining water-repellent leather with cushioning PU and wear-resistant TPU.
- Moisture-wicking Second Skin leather lining and breathable, vegetable-tanned cow leather insoles that enhance circulation.
- ECCO Freedom Fit mixing a snug heel setting with a roomier forefoot area that allows toes to move naturally.
Like all ECCO golf shoes, ECCO World Class is crafted at ECCO-owned factories using the Direct-injection Process. This bonds the upper and outsole unit, creating a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include permanent memory and a firm, water-tight seal. ECCO vertical integration is further supported by the company’s position as one of the world’s largest producers of luxury leathers.
ECCO Golf shoes are also worn in competition around the world by Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Peter Hanson, Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjørn, Will Wilcox, Ben Evans, Jim Renner, Minjee Lee, Caroline Masson, Gerina Piller, Jennifer Johnson, Kendall Dye, Pernilla Lindberg, Therese Koelbaek and Liz Young, among others.
