Wilson Golf – Extension of the award-winning Infinite putter line

October 17, 2018 – Wilson Golf is extending its award-winning Wilson Staff INFINITE putter range for 2019 with three new models incorporating eye-catching design and game-changing technology.

The new models continue the tradition of being named after landmarks and neighbourhoods in the brand’s home city of Chicago.

Available this month, the ‘Bucktown’ a fang-mallet style model features a double bend in the shaft towards the head to balance the face at impact, while the West Loop’ is a wide-profile blade style putter with a straight down shaft. Coming early next year is the ‘L, a mallet-style putter with a square head and straight shaft.

The three new putters join the six other Wilson Staff INFINITE models including the award-winning South Side used exclusively by three-time Major Champion Padraig Harrington for the past four seasons. The centre-shafted mallet putter helped the Irishman win the 2015 Honda Classic on the PGA Tour and the 2016 Portugal Masters on the European Tour to take his worldwide professional wins to 31. It has also featured in his three top-10 finishes in the last four starts.

The latest INFINITE range features Counterbalance Technology, which combines a heavier head and grip weights, moving the balance point closer to the hands for a smoother and more controlled putting stroke.

A new grip includes an oversize design construction to provide a stable feel and limits rotation during stroke. The heavy grip (104 grams) helps create the counter-balanced putter feel.

“We continue to expand and improve this popular INFINITE putter range year-on-year and the 2019 range now has a better balance of blade and mallet style options,” said Global Commercial Director, Doug Wright.

The 2019 range also features a black anti-glare finish to accentuate the sight lines that have been stripped back to improve alignment at address. The Double-Milled Face that promotes consistent impact, roll and distance control also features the famous Wilson Staff shield in the striking, modern appearance.

New grips and headcovers carry the distinctive INFINITE branding in a strong Black & White colour contrast with standout attention to detail highlighted in the brand’s traditional Red colourway.

In addition, the INFINITE PUTTER series includes theWindy City’, ‘Bean’ and ‘Bucktown models in a trendy Glacier Blue and white-coloured women’s option, designed to fit female specifications and characteristics.

The Wilson Staff INFINITE putters are available at selected retailers at an RRP of £99.

Wilson Golf – New look Wilson Staff Infinite putter range with Tour winning technology

January 26, 2018 – Wilson Golf has redesigned its popular range of Wilson Staff Infinite putters with six new models, incorporating eye-catching design features on the head and grip for a thoroughly modern new look.

The new putters (three blade and three mallet) are all named after landmarks and neighbourhoods in the brand’s home city of Chicago – Windy City, Lake Shore, Michigan Ave, Grant Park, South Side and The Bean. Featuring exclusive Counterbalance Technology, the putters combine a heavier head and grip weights, moving the balance point closer to the hands for a smoother and more controlled putting stroke.

The South Side model has been used exclusively by three-time Major Champion Padraig Harrington for the past three seasons. The centre-shafted mallet putter helped the Irishman win the 2015 Honda Classic on the PGA Tour and the 2016 Portugal Masters on the European Tour to take his worldwide professional wins to 31.

“The Infinite putter range is now very much an established part of the Wilson Staff brand that features Tour winning technology,” said Global Commercial Director, Doug Wright. “The new range has a standout design based on feedback from our Wilson Advisory Staff members which really catches the eye from the grip, all the way to the finer details on the head,” he added.

The latest range of putters also feature a black anti-glare finish to accentuate the sight lines that have been stripped back to improve alignment at address. The Double-Milled Face that promotes consistent impact, roll and distance control also features the famous Wilson Staff shield in the striking appearance.

Another exclusive design feature is the new Wilson Staff Counterbalance putter grip. The perforated pattern and oversize design construction provides an improved and stable feel and limits rotation during the stroke. The heavier (104g) grip helps create the counterbalanced feel.

The new grips, as well as the headcovers, come in a strong Black and white colour contrast with standout attention to detail highlighted in the brand’s traditional Red colourway.

In addition, the INFINITE series includes the Windy City model in a trendy Glacier Blue and white-coloured women’s option, designed to fit female specifications and characteristics. There are also left-handed versions available in the Windy City model for both men and ladies.

The Wilson Staff Infinite putter range available at selected retailers from January 2018 at an RRP of 149€ each.

Wilson Golf – Wilson Staff players geared up for The Open 2017

July 18, 2017 – Former Open Champions Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie lead the list of Wilson Staff players competing at the 146th staging of golf’s oldest Major at Royal Birkdale this week, all using the brand’s signature FG Tour V6 irons.

Harrington, who won the Claret Jug the last time The Open was played at the venue in 2008, returns to the Southport coast with good memories having hit one of the most memorable shots in Open history on his way to victory.

In howling conditions during the final round, a 5-wood from 249-yards on the 17th hole finished three feet away. A tap in eagle followed birdies on the 13th and 15th to record a final round 69 to retain the title he won at Carnoustie a year before.

The popular Irishman, who has played Wilson Staff clubs since 1998 in one of golf’s longest partnerships, also plays a FG Tour V4 Utility 4-iron, FG Tour PMP wedges and the Infinite South Side putter.

Scotsman Lawrie re-joined the brand shortly before last year’s Open Championship, having won at Carnoustie with Wilson Staff irons back in 1999. The Ryder-Cup star came from ten shots back with a magnificent final round of 67 and won his first Major in the four hole play-off.

Making his 25th Open appearance after debuting back in 1992, Lawrie has eight European Tour wins to his name. He has hosted his own European Tour event each year since 2015, the Paul Lawrie Match Play.

Local boy Paul Waring can expect a warm reception from the home crowd during his second appearance in a Major championship – the first being at Royal Birkdale nine years ago.

After a couple of frustrating years through injury, the Bromborough native has enjoyed a successful 2017 with four top-10 finishes on the European Tour, including a tied second at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco.

Completing the list of Wilson Staff player’s teeing it up on the north-west links is two-time PGA Tour winner Brendan Steele.

A victory in the opening event of the 2017 PGA Tour FedEx Cup season at the Safeway Open in California has been followed by five top-20 finishes, including a tied-13th at the US Open at Erin Hills and a sixth place at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

“Wilson Staff is fortunate to have Padraig returning to the scene of his last Open victory, Paul as another former champion making a milestone appearance and both Paul from just down the road and Brendan from the States enjoying a good season so far, to make it a really exciting week for the brand,” said Global Commercial Director, Doug Wright.

“The FG Tour V6 irons have been a revelation this season – from our Tour staff through to accomplished amateur golfers. It’s going to be great to see these irons play a part in what is the biggest stage in world golf,” he added.

The FG Tour V6 irons are designed for the golfer who values ultimate feel, precision shot-shaping and feedback. Made from 8620 carbon steel, the irons feature split tungsten weighting through the set offering improved sole camber and bounce for added distance, versatility and optimal ball flight.
