PING – Andy Sullivan signs as Apparel Ambassador of his golf clubs brand

January 10, 2018 – PING has announced the signing of current staff player Andy Sullivan as an apparel ambassador on a multi-year agreement. The three-time European Tour winner has been playing PING equipment since his amateur days and will extend his long-standing relationship with this agreement.

Sullivan will wear key garments from the new SS18 collection, as he plays a global schedule on the European Tour this year.

One of Britain’s brightest golf stars, Sullivan has become a popular figure on and off the course, thanks to his personality and performances in many high-profile tournaments.

Following his breakout year in 2015, which saw him win three times, Andy has posted a string of impressive performances in the majors and World Golf Championships, as well as playing his way onto the European Ryder Cup team in 2016.

Commenting on the new agreement, Andy Sullivan said: “PING have shown me such loyalty throughout my career, even back to my amateur days, so to be extending my association with them to wear the apparel feels like the perfect fit for me.

“It’s a family-owned company, so to be wearing the clothing as well as playing the clubs really makes me feel like a genuine part of that family.

“The new SS18 collection is fantastic from both a looks and performance perspective and I can’t wait to start wearing it on tour.”

March 2, 2015 – The PING staff player Andy Sullivan produced a brilliant closing 66 to win the Joburg Open and claim a second European Tour title on South African soil in as many months.

Sullivan claimed his maiden title at the South African Open Championship at Glendower in January, just a few miles down the road from Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club where a 17 under par total saw Sullivan finish two shots clear of compatriots David Howell and Anthony Wall, Ireland’s Kevin Phelan and South Africans Wallie Coetsee and Jaco Van Zyl.

A bogey on the 11th dropped the former Walker Cup player a shot behind Howell, who had gone to the turn in 33, only for Howell to hook his tee shot into the water on the 14th.

Wall’s challenge also faltered when he found water on the 15th and it was Sullivan who held his nerve down the closing stretch with birdies on the 15th and 18th to seal victory.

Andy has connected the success of PING golf clubs in South Africa repeating with the new G30 driver and fairway wood, the Glide wedges and the Cadence TR Anser 2 putter in his golf bag.

“It’s unbelievable,” Andy Sullivan said at the presentation ceremony. “I never imagined it would happen again so quickly. Coming down the stretch me and my caddie were loving life again and enjoying it. It seems to be a theme, enjoying my golf and getting the right results at the moment.”

Ping – Andy Sullivan gives the G30 its first win in 2015 at South African Open

January 11, 2015 – Andy Sullivan snatched the South African Open Championship from Charl Schwartzel after a dramatic play-off, in what is the first win for Ping G30s in 2015.

Sullivan fired a remarkable approach from the trees to 12 feet at the first extra hole and sank the putt to secure his first European Tour win. Schwartzel took a five shot lead into the final round at Glendower Golf Club and still led by four with five holes to play.

However, the former Masters Tournament champion then failed to get up and down from a plugged lie in a greenside bunker on the 14th and three-putted the 16th to run up a double bogey six, before a poor tee shot on the 17th led to another bogey and left him tied with Sullivan on 11 under par.

The players returned to the 18th for a sudden-death play-off and, after both had missed the fairway, Sullivan produced a stunning recovery for a winning birdie. The English player has a golf bag full of Ping equipment, including the G30 driver, fairway wood and hybrid golf clubs.

“It’s unbelievable,”Andy Sullivan said during the trophy presentation. “After Saturday I didn’t think I stood much of a chance with Charl getting ahead that far.

“I just dug in there yesterday and today and found myself in a position where I had a chance to win. My caddie said over the last few holes ‘no regrets’ and I’ve definitely got no regrets over the last few holes, especially that play-off hole.

“Charl has won Major Championships; my caddie said ‘expect him to hole’ (his third shot) and he nearly did. I was delighted just to hit the green and have a chance to win and I’m just glad I took it.”
