October 29, 2023 – Callaway Staffer Sami Välimäki stormed to his second DP World Tour title at the 2023 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters after a thrilling final day for #TeamCallaway.
The 25-year-old Fin came from behind on a stellar Sunday at Doha Golf Club where he chased down 2020 champion and fellow Callaway Staffer Jorge Campillo.
It eventually took a play-off to separate the high-flying team-mates, who both relied on a full bag of Callaway and Odyssey products, including Paradym Triple Diamond Drivers.
Sami secured the €603,208 winner’s cheque with a confident birdie putt on the first play-off hole, using an Odyssey White Hot OG 2-Ball Putter, capping a terrific tournament which saw him shoot rounds of 67, 67, 67 and 69, for an -18 total.
Team Callaway’s dominant week was completed when Spain’s Nacho Elvira claimed joint third place to make it a stunning 1-2-3 finish for the brand.
Immediately after securing the title, Sami Välimäki said: “It’s unbelievable. It’s hard to talk. It’s been a long journey and it feels great. I’ve worked so hard and I feel like I’ve earned it a couple of times but it hasn’t come my way. That’s why it feels so amazing.”
In addition to his Paradym Triple Diamond Driver and Odyssey Putter, Sami gamed a Paradym HL Fairway Wood, Forged UT ’21Utility Iron, Apex TCB ’21 Irons, a quartet of JAWS Raw Wedges, and a Chrome Soft X Golf Ball.
