May 31, 2024 – Søren Kjeldsen made an historic 700^th appearance when he teed off at this week’s European Open, becoming just the fourth player in DP World Tour history to reach that impressive milestone.

The Dane, a four-time DP World Tour winner, joins leading appearance maker David Howell, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Sam Torrance as the only players on the exclusive list.

The 49-year-old has been the model of consistency since making his DP World Tour debut at the 1998 South African Open after successfully graduating from the European Challenge Tour. He has maintained his playing rights for 26 consecutive seasons and also achieved victories at some of the world’s most renowned venues.

“I’m very proud of this achievement,” said Søren Kjeldsen. “It’s been an amazing 27 years and I love this Tour and I’m very grateful of everything they have done for me. I love playing the game of golf and I have been lucky enough to play all over the world on the DP World Tour.

“The game has changed a lot since I started but I still love it and I am not looking to stop anytime soon. The sport is evolving, and Tiger Woods played a huge part in changing the physical aspect of the game. You struggle to get into the gym now because it is packed every week. Statistics, analytics and technology have also changed a lot recently and the guys now are bigger and stronger.

“Personally, I have had so many great experiences on Tour and met so many amazing people. The best memory I have is my World Cup of Golf victory with Thorbjørn Olesen because golf is such an individual sport and to win something with somebody else is pretty special,” concludes the Srixon / Cleveland Golf staff player.

The first of Kjeldsen’s DP World Tour wins came at the 2003 Diageo Championship at Gleneagles, finishing two strokes ahead of Alastair Forsyth, and he followed that with a wire-to-wire victory at the final edition of the Volvo Masters in 2008.

Further success in Spain followed at the 2009 Open de Andalucía de Golf, with his fourth victory coming at Royal County Down in the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation, defeating Eddie Pepperell and Bernd Wiesberger in a play-off.

Kjeldsen reached a career high 31^st on the Official World Golf Ranking in 2009 and has achieved top ten finishes in three of the four Majors, finishing T7 at the Masters and T9 at The Open in 2016 and T6 at the US PGA Championship in 2009.

He represented his nation on a number of occasions as an amateur before turning professional in 1995 and he represented Denmark at the World Cup on seven occasions, partnering Thorbjørn Olesen to victory in 2016 at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne.

He also teed it up for Continental Europe at the 2009 Seve Trophy and helped Europe win the EurAsia Cup in 2016. In addition to his efforts on the golf course, Kjeldsen is also currently a member of the DP World Tour’s Tournament Committee.
