June 28, 2015 – This is the first Spanish victory of the 2015 European Tour season. Spain’s Pablo Larrazábal (Callaway Golf) shot a flawless final round 66 to claim the 2015 BMW International Open title by a single stroke from Henrik Stenson, at Golfclub München Eichenried (Germany). In fact this is his second victory in the BMW International Open, following his triumph in 2011.

Larrazábal raced to the turn in 31 to place himself on a congested leaderboard, and as the challengers one by one faded away his sixth birdie of the day from 15 feet on the 16th proved decisive in edging out clubhouse leader Stenson.

The World Nº7 Henrik Stenson (Callaway Golf) had put himself in contention with a round of 65 that featured five birdies and an eagle on the long 11th.

England’s Chris Paisley (Callaway Golf) shot a one under par 71 in the final pairing to take third on 15 under, boosting his chances of retaining his card for next season in the process, but overnight leader James Morrison (Callaway Golf) – 2015 Spanish Open winner – finished outside the top ten after a closing 77.

With this win Pablo Larrazabal achieve his fourth European Tour International Schedule victory in his 228th European Tour event. This is his his first European Tour victory since the 2014 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

“I’m very tired,” said Pablo Larrazábal after claiming a fourth European Tour title. “I knew that I was in a good position, and I knew that I had to start very fast. I had to start with a few birdies in the first few holes, and I started very well. I think I was five under for the front nine, hitting the ball great – as good as I’ve hit it all year, and my putting was awesome. I made a lot of great putts.”

Larrazábal is getting married to partner Gala Alten in August and admitted he was in a good place at the moment. “In two months I will be a married man,” he added. “This is awesome; being with her again around Munich and around this beautiful golf course, it gave us a lot of great memories and being married to her is a dream come true.”

This is the 173rd Spanish victory on The European Tour, and the 22nd consecutive winning year on The European Tour for Spain, dating back to the 1994 season.

The dominance of Callaway Golf in this tournament begins with Pablo Larrazábal as the champion, and follows with Henrik Stenson second, Chris Paisley third, and Kiradech Aphibarnrat fourth tied, from its Tour staff.
