March 21, 2016 – TaylorMade Golf staff player Jason Day claimed his 8th PGA Tour victory at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Invitational last Sunday with a final-round 70, that included a birdie and a clutch par save from the bunker on the final two holes. In the process climbed back up to Nº2 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Using his TaylorMade M1 460 Driver, the Australian golfer overpowered the layout at Arnie’s Place with drives on the par 4 15th of 323 yards and the par 5 16th of 334 yards in the final round.

Jason backed his long game dominance up with a mercurial short game, gaining 3.3 shots on the field over the weekend. Using his Tour Preferred EF Wedges and Itsy Bitsy Proto Putter, Day sealed the victory with a clutch sand-save on the 72nd hole.

Day’s up-and-down from greenside bunker on the 72nd hole proved to be the deciding moment of the tournament, but his magic short game would have been for naught had it not been for a birdie on the penultimate hole.

One shot back of Kevin Chappell, Day threaded his tee shot on the 17th to within 12 feet of the hole, where he used his TaylorMade Ghost Spider Itsy Bitsy Prototype putter to convert the must-make birdie.

The mallet putter has been a mainstay in Day’s bag since the 2014 Barclays and has a custom dark finish and no alignment line — two things the Aussie prefers. According to Day, the decision to go back to Ghost Spider Itsy Bitsy came down to his ability to see the line from the ball to the hole.
