SoftSpikes – Starting 2025 in style, with Hideki Matsuyama winning in the Sentry with the No.1 spike on Tour

January, 7 2025 – A record-breaking performance from the winner of The Sentry, Hideki Matsuyama, wearing Softspikes in his Asics golf shoes, ensured that the No.1 spike on Tour teed off 2025 in style with another victory for players choosing to compete in replaceable spikes at the highest-level of the game.

Shooting rounds of 65, 65, 62 and 65 to reach 35 under-par, the 32-year-old Japanese superstar broke the PGA Tour’s record to par for 72 holes and recorded his 11th career win.

The World No.5 becomes the 40th PGA Tour winner to do so wearing spikes in the past 43 events. In total, 35 of the 43 finishers in the elite field at The Sentry selected to compete in spikes vs spikeless.

Softspikes – FedEx St. Jude champion claims 10th PGA Tour titles and 30th win of the year for the spikes

August 20, 2024 – Softspikes was once again the traction of choice down the stretch on Sunday as the winner Hideki Matsuyama of the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, The FedEx St. Jude Championship, secured a 30th PGA Tour win of the year for players wearing Softspikes.

After commanding opening three rounds of 65, 64 & 64 wearing his trusted Softspikes in his Asics golf footwear, the 32-year-old Japanese player endured a nervy finish, but back-to-back birdies on the final two holes were enough to secure him a two-shot win and 10th PGA Tour title of his career. The win moves him up to 3rd position in the FedEx Cup Standings.

In a field where 84% of players were wearing spikes, the winner becomes the 30th PGA Tour champion to do so wearing spikes in the last 34 PGA Tour events. In addition, 30 of the top 32 finishers in Memphis chose to compete in replaceable spikes over spikeless shoes.

Srixon – Hideki Matsuyama surges to The Genesis Invitational win with final round of 62 shots

February 19, 2024 – In a come from behind effort, Hideki Matsuyama chased down the field at The Genesis Invitational with a scorching final round back-nine 30, carding six birdies and no bogeys to close out the tournament at 17-under and win by three strokes. Matsuyama’s 9-under 62 on Sunday is the lowest final round tournament score recorded at Riviera Country Club. This is his ninth PGA Tour victory.

Delivering on one of the biggest stages of the year, Matsuyama found himself in cruise control on Sunday, showcasing his pristine Iron play throughout the final round. His back-nine 30 was fueled by his Srixon Z-Forged II Irons hitting back-to-back Iron shots on the 15th and 16th holes within nine and six inches respectively. He ranked second in strokes gained approach in the final round.

Playing pain free and winning for the first time since the Sony Open in 2022, Matsuyama hopes to keep this positive momentum going into major season. “Ever since that injury, I was worried every week I would hurt my back. This week I played without any worries so that really helped,” he said. “I think it’s really important for me to keep this momentum, especially going into Augusta, so hopefully I can keep that.”

Crediting his chipping for the positive week, Matsuyama ranked first in scrambling using his Cleveland Golf RTX wedges and Srixon’s Z-STAR XV golf ball to work his way around challenging Riviera. With this win, Matsuyama became the first player from Japan to win at Riviera and becomes the winningest Asian-born player in PGA Tour history.

Srixon – Hideki Matsuyama wins Dunlop Phoenix with Z-STAR XV golf ball

November 25, 2014 – Srixon staff player Hideki Matsuyama has won the Dunlop Phoenix title in Japan this weekend, after triumphing in a sudden death playoff against compatriot Hiroshi Iwata.

On his way to a sixth victory on the Japan Tour, Matsuyama faced a strong challenge throughout from America’s Jordan Spieth, in what many in the game believe will be a regular sporting rivalry for many years to come.

Starting the final round with a two-shot lead, a round of one-under-par, after birdies at the final two holes in regulation play, proved to be enough to cement his spot in the playoff against Iwata, who shot a final round of 8-under-par to surge up the leaderboard.

Having finished his round off strongly, Hideki Matsuyama needed just one playoff hole to secure the win, wrapping up proceedings with a par. The win takes Matsuyama up to 16th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
