Crest Link – High visibility of the golf apparel brand thanks to the Hong Kong and Australian Opens

November 28, 2017 – Last week was an important one for Crest Link. The leading golf apparel brand in Asia enjoyed high visibility in the Tour for very different reasons. First, due to the magnificent performance of its best player, the Hindu S.P.P. Chawrasia, at the UBS Hong Kong Open; and second, as official apparel partner of the Emirates Australian Open since 2015, with the participation of stars such as Jason Day or Jordan Spieth.

America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Golf fans have been able to watch the growing involvement of the brand with golf from the four continents, as the Hong Kong Open was a shared event between the European Tour and the Asian Tour, while the traditional Australian Open is like the Major of Oceania, attracting the focus of interest from the US, thanks to the presence of important PGA TOUR star players.

Equipped with the technical Crest Link polos and tops in Micro-Dri fabric, S.P.P. Chawrasia started strong in Fanling’s Hong Kong GC, with two exceptional initial rounds of 65 and 66 strokes, showing himself as the best of the draw facing the wind. With a 69 in the third round he was still leading by one, but a triple bogey on the 9th hole of the fourth round took him away from the victory options to finish with 72 and seventh tied at the end, three strokes from the Australian champion, Wade Ormsby.

On the other hand, Crest Link has once again become a main actor as official apparel partner of the Emirates Australian Open 2017, held at The Australian Golf Club, which ended with the victory of another Australian, Cameron Davis, with 273 strokes.

The 102nd edition of this world class event repeated for the third time with Crest Link, and the result could not be more satisfactory. The staff members of the organization and the more than 400 volunteers were equipped with red polos, thus showing the brand throughout the golf course and in the specialized TV programs all around the world.

Not only they, but also the caddies in their official bibs throughout the week, have displayed the logo close to players such as Jason Day, Jordan Spieth or Jonas Blixt, as well as half a dozen Australian golfers from the brand’s staff. The public could also buy the latest polos, caps and accessories of the brand with the logo of the event in the official merchandising shop.

The apparel of the Malaysian company is perfect for the Australian golfers.   Its clothing offers efficient moisture absorption and evaporation and it feels smoother and lighter than the traditional cotton golf fabrics. It keeps golfers cool and dry at all times, while giving protection against UV rays and reducing fatigue thanks to Crest Link technical fabric innovations such Micro-Dri, Micro-Dri A-Vent, Micro-Dri UV or Comp-Tech. All of these have been designed with the priority of putting golfers and their performance first, beyond anything else.

Crest Link – Brand ambassador SSP Chawrasia wins Indian Arjuna Award

August, 24, 2017 – S.S.P. Chawrasia, ambassador of Crest Link golf apparel, has won the prestigious Arjuna Award for his contribution towards golf in India through his success on the Asian Tour, European Tour and Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

Chawrasia’s name was recommended by a selection panel appointed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Government of India before he was awarded with the prestigious accolade.

The Kolkata-based golfer, currently ranked second on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, will receive the award from the President of India in a ceremony to be conducted at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House) in New Delhi on August 29.

Chawrasia is one of the most successful stories to emerge from the Asian Tour. From a son of a greenkeeper, he rose through the ranks to win six Asian Tour titles including back-to-back Hero Indian Open victories in 2016 and 2017, where he was runner-up four times before.

In 2016, he won his first title outside of India when he emerged victorious at the Resorts World Manila Masters. In that same year, he also represented his his country in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the World Cup of Golf.

“I had dreamt of winning the Arjuna since childhood even before I started playing golf. My inspiration to win the award was famous Kolkata golfer Mr. SK Jamshed who won the Arjuna back in 1975. I still have a picture of his with the award at my home,” said an elated Chawrasia to PGTI.

“Finally my dream has come true. The Arjuna Award is something that every Indian sportsperson craves for. It’s a true recognition of my achievements. This award will give me a lot of confidence for the battles ahead. I am in a happy space right now, so I am confident of doing well,” he added.

Crest Link – Ilija Djurdjevic, first Long Driver player sponsored by the golf clothing brand

May 18, 2017 – Crest Link, the leading golf apparel company in Asia, continues to expand its presence in Europe and this season has signed one of the emerging professionals of the Long Drive panorama, the Serbian Ilija Djurdjevic.

Djurdjevic is a multi-faceted golfer who is triumphing on Long Drive as champion of the Portugal Long Drive European Tour Championship in September 2016 and been included in the Long Drive World Series 2017, competing among the best hitters in the world as Joe Miller, Tim Burke, Lucas Dornan and Maurice Allen.

However, it also plays well in the 18-hole golf, something not so common among Long Drive specialists, competing in tournaments of the PGAs of Europe, Gambito Golf Tour and Catalunya Pro Tour. Riding between Spain and Serbia, where he trains and offers clinics and teaches private lessons as a PGA professional, he often travels the world to compete.

For Ilija Djurdjevic and Crest Link this year is a great opportunity because within the Long Drive World Series (LDWS) they will participate in events broadcast live on Sky TV. He has already competed in Dubai, where he finished sixth, and the next event will be the 8th of July in London.

“When we contacted the Crest Link distributor in Europe they found it interesting. The brand has already dress golfers, so why not to dress a Long Drive player who already has a European title and is in the LDWS,” says Ilija Djurdjevic.

Before reaching the agreement, the Serbian had the opportunity to test the Crest Link clothes and he was delighted with the quality and the performance. “In the pictures you can see how elegant, confortable and sporty I’m at the same time,” he continues. “I am dress head to feet with polo shirts, windproof, pants, shorts, belt, socks…”.

What features would you highlight of Crest Link’s clothing?“The important thing for a Long Drive player is that since I have to turn my body a lot in the swing, I do not have to feel the clothes. And in the movement Crest Link does not jerk me or notice any resistance, so it’s perfect.”

“As for breathability its garments are really cool. On the golf course, where you have to be four or five hours, with any other clothes you have to put it to wash because odour, instead with Crest Link I think it could take a couple of days because it is kept in good condition”.

And about colours…“To play 18 holes I try to dress the most classic possible: polo-shirt and long trousers normally, black or grey, or mixing colours. For Long Drive, more intense colours. Crest Link has strong, eye-catching colours that I like, such yellow or orange. The range is very complete.”

“I think Crest Link has a lot of future here in Europe, because it is at the same level of other big brands in the industry, but with a better value,” concludes Ilija Djurdjevic.

Crest Link – S.S.P. Chawrasia reigns again at Hero Indian Open, giving the 2nd European title to the brand

March 12, 2017 – New Zealand’s Michael Campbell may be Crest Link‘s most popular ambassador, thanks to the Open USA he won in 2005 at Pinehurst , but the Hindu S.S.P. Chawrasia is clearly the second, as winner of the 2016 and now the 2017 Hero Indian Open, an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian Tour. This victory also represents the second win for Crest Link, the apparel brand that dresses him, at the European Tour.

S.S.P. Chawrasia made European Tour history as he blew away the rest of the field to successfully defend his title of last year. The home favourite started the day in a share of the lead at DLF Golf & Country Club in New Delhi but had moved two shots ahead when the third round of the weather-delayed tournament was completed on Sunday morning.

He did not look back in round four, signing for a 71 and sealing a season-high equalling seven-shot win over Malaysia’s Gavin Green. The victory continued his remarkable record at his national Open where he was runner-up four times before finally triumphing last season.

“I’m winning back-to-back so I’m really very happy,” S.S.P. Chawrasia said. “I learned many things this week and hopefully I can play better in Europe. That’s my target next, I have to win in Europe… This is probably my best win of my career as it was a really tough course. This week, I made less mistakes and others made more mistakes.”

CREST LINK, THE FUTURE IN GOLF APPAREL

Crest Link has been perfect clothing for S.S.P. Chawrasia, as its apparel offers efficient moisture absorption and evaporation, it feels smooth and lighter than the traditional cotton golf fabrics, keeps the golfer cool and dry at all times, gives protection against UV rays and reduces fatigue.

This is possible thanks to Crest Link technical fabric innovations such Micro-Dri, Micro-Dri A-Vent, Micro-Dri UV or Comp-Tech. All of these have been designed with the priority of putting golfers and their performance first, beyond anything else.

Crest Link – The official apparel of SMBC Singapore Open, star of the 2017 Asian Tour

January 25, 2017 – Thailand player Pryad Marksaeng received an early birthday present when he won the SMBC Singapore Open, held from January 19th to 22nd at the restart of the Asian Tour, played at the Serapong Course of Sentosa Golf Club. The excitement was high on the final day with a close finish settled by Pryad with a 67 in the fourth round, to win with -9, a shot less than his rivals.

Perhaps in Spain we were watching out for the debut of Sergio Garcia and Javi Colomo this year in the Tour, who finished in the 11T position – only four shots more than the winner – and 39T respectively. But then, seeing the picture of the tournament volunteers surrounding Pryad Marksaeng with his spectacular cup, we remember that the official clothing of the event is the Crest Link brand.

The Asian leader in golf apparel deployed all of its experience as sponsor of the event, dressing some 400 volunteers and a hundred staff officers of the organization with the soft, fresh fabrics of its polo shirts. The garments were also available to the public in the official merchandising tent. The most popular products were the polo shirts, in a variety of colour combinations, and the caps with the logo of the event.

In the days before the tournament, Crest Link ran a draw offering places to play the Pro-Am for the purchase of merchandise valued at 150 US Dollars, including a polo with the logo.

The Crest Link logo also stood out on the signs of several holes on the course. The SMBC Open in Singapore has been a great event for the presentation of the main novelties of its 2017 Collection, being visible to more than 20,000 spectators who come every year to enjoy the event.

CREST LINK, THE FUTURE IN APPAREL

The apparel of the Malaysian company is perfect for the South Asian golfers, as its clothing offers efficient moisture absorption and evaporation, it feels smooth and lighter than the traditional cotton golf fabrics, keeps golfers cool and dry at all times, gives protection against UV rays and reduces fatigue.

This is possible thanks to Crest Link technical fabric innovations such Micro-Dri, Micro-Dri A-Vent, Micro-Dri UV or Comp-Tech. All of these have been designed with the priority of putting golfers and their performance first, beyond anything else.

As an established brand for many years, Crest Link is increasing its global presence and the 2016 SMBC Singapore Open has been another perfect event for showing its leadership in the golf apparel market.

Crest Link – 10th Anniversary of passion and prudence for the golf apparel leader in Asia

F01-Crest-Link-Raymond-Yee-Emirates-Australian-Open

June 23, 2016 – It seems like it was only yesterday when Raymond K. S. Yee, CEO of a large clothing manufacturer in Malaysia, had the idea of creating a golf clothing brand. And it’s difficult to believe that it was more than a decade ago when the Crest Link brand was officially launched at Palm Garden Golf Club, on December 8th 2005, in Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia and sister city of Kuala Lumpur.

F03-Crest-Link-Valla

While the road has been entertaining and fun, Raymond has managed the growth through a prudent and carefully planned expansion. “The past ten years have gone by really fast, because we have been working hard on opening new markets, which is really challenging. Before we venture into a country, we make frequent trips there to study and analyse the market,” says the cofounder and CEO of the company.

F10-Crest-Link-Models

“Golf is a niche market and we are up against the big boys of the apparel industry. But after 10 years, we are much more comfortable now as we know the business well and we are confident of bringing new products and ideas into the market that will work. We can create anything in terms of design, but we have to know what people want,” adds Raymond Yee.

F04-Chawrasia-HIO-2016-0

Crest Link is now present in no less than 19 countries worldwide, expanding from its first forays into the Asia Pacific to achieve Middle East and even Southern Europe. This expansion of the distribution has been accompanied by a continued increase of Ambassadors in the Tour, including the 2005 US Open champion, New Zealander Michael Campbell. This year Crest Link has scored the first victory of the brand on the European Tour triumph thanks to S.S.P. Chawrasia in India Open. In addition, the brand is associated with renowned professional events.

F06-Crest-Link-R-Yee-and-M-Cambell

For several seasons, Crest Link has been the official apparel of tournaments such as the Malaysian Open, the Singapore Open, the Australian PGA Championship, the Spanish Open, the Northern Ireland Open, and most recently, the Australia Open.

F09-Crest-Link-Official-tent

“Our presence at these events really helps in our branding through the live telecasts and also direct exposure to the consumers golfers,” said Raymond Yee.

Despite the expansion, the staff strength of the company has remained lean with a headcount of less than 10.

“We are very hands-on with the business and we have really dedicated staff. That’s important because with our international presence there may be a late call from our Middle East or Europe distributor and our staff are always ready to answer any queries,” recalls Raymond Yee.

F06-Crest-Link-polos

Crest Link polo shirts are highly appreciated. They are made of high quality microfibre imported from Taiwan and made in the company’s plant just outside Kuala Lumpur. Microfibre is a material made of high quality yarn and has a registered trademark of Micro-Dri, offering extremely efficient moisture absorption and evaporation, and a lightweight and comfortable feel.

F10-Crest-Link-Carlton-Chua

Marketing Director of Crest Link, Carlton Chua, also co-founder of the brand, highlights the fact that they are both owners and manufacturers at the same time, which gives them a significant advantage over other brands in the region.

“We are able to come up to six or seven different productions for each collection. Some brands are weak in fabrication and that makes us stand out,” adds Carlton Chua.

So, what are the next steps for Crest Link at the beginning of its second decade? Further expansion but with prudence, naturally.

Crest Link has recently established its first joint venture abroad, partnering with its existing distributor in Indonesia, leading to the birth of PT Crest Link Indonesia Jaya.

“We set up this joint venture in Indonesia as we see it as a market with huge potential. We appointed a distributor in Pakistan earlier this year, and we’ve actually got an enquiry about bringing Crest Link to Mexico,” says Carlton Chua. And with the growing business in Europe, Malaysia’s most successful brand in the golf industry seems unstoppable.

On the course, the best performing golfer equipped by Crest Link is the Indian player S.S.P. Chowrasia, who managed to enter the Top 10 in the Malaysian Open, and last week achieved his best result of the year for the specialist microfiber clothing brand at the European Tour, finishing second in the 2015 Hero Indian Open.

Chowrasia, who holds two victories on the European Tour at the Indian Masters 2008 and Avantha Masters 2011, led the event after the first three rounds in Delhi Golf Club, with 65-67-69, but a bad last day took him to a 76 that was not enough to avoid the play-off against his compatriot Anirban Lahiri, who clinched his second title of the year after the Malaysian Open.
