November 29, 2015 – The American Maurice Allen has been crowned champion of the 2015 Volvik Long Drivers European Tour Championship after the last match of the season held at Lumine Golf Club. Dewald Lubbe has won The Masters LDET Cup after beating the Swedish Alex Cedervall with a best shot of 378 yards after playing three sets in the final.

Maurice Allen has been the most tenacious player of the season and finished first with 6,100 points at the LDET Ranking. The American hitter has won three of the eight competitions (Sweden, Belgium, Italy) in 2015 and his best shot reached 423 yards. Dewald Lubbe finished second with two wins and 4,500 points, and Frederik Frost – finalist in Belgium – was third with 3,700.

The day began a little cold and with sun in Lumine Golf, but the heat increased with the first hits with shots around 350 yards. The qualifying round started promptly at 10 o’clock. The hitters were put into two groups and played four rounds each. In the 1st Group the Spanish Adrian Sanchez finished third (356y) behind the South African Dewald Lubbe, first with a record of 372y, and Danish Frost Frederik, second with a mark of 360y.

In the 2nd Group, Maurice Allen finished third with 369 yards. Other players who excelled in this phase were the tour players English Scott Beaven with a best of 370 yards, and German Timo Petrasch, with 371 yards. The spectators at Lumine Golf Club enjoyed the quarters and semis thanks to the competitiveness displayed by the best hitters in Europe. Dewald Lubbe had no mercy with his opponents and left Adrian Sanchez and Scott Beaven behind as he went ahead to the final.

In the other quarterfinals, Maurice Allen was eliminated by Alexander Cedervall despite getting a super bomb of 414 yards, the longest ball of the day.

In the final round, Dewald and Cedervall waged a battle of power and technique that the South African won after playing three sets with the best ball of 378 yards.

The LDET team is now working to define the 2016 calendar, that will take the Long Drivers to new countries in Europe and will visit truly spectacular resorts.
