Garmin – Introduction Of The Innovative Approach G6 GPS

Garmin Approach G6January 24, 2012 – Garmin, global leader in navigation solutions, has announced the launch of the Approach G6, the most advanced and innovative model in the series of handheld GPS designed for playing golf. This new device with touchscreen and a rugged, compact design, incorporates more than 25,000 courses worldwide preloaded without subscription or installation, plus a wide variety of new features.

The Approach G6 includes a tactile distance measurer up to the target that gives precise information about the distance to hazards or obstacles, drop zones of the ball, and front, middle and back of the green. In addition, it also incorporates a digital scorecard that can account for up to four players, and automatically updates the position of the golfer in the course, so that measurements are always accurate.

Garmin Approach G6“In this sport, innovation in the technological equipment of the golfer plays a main role. The software and the design of the Approach G6 allow users to improve and go faster in their game, because its extended and advanced features place this device on top,” said Natalia Cabrera, marketing director of Garmin Iberia.

Compact, lightweight and water resistant (IPx7), this new model of the Approach Series has improved its full-colour touch screen, which is readable in direct sunlight, and can be used even with gloves. Internal rechargeable battery has more than 15 hours of autonomy and information on over 25,000 golf courses that can be updated and extend with a free download from the Garmin website at no cost subscription.

With a very intuitive interface, the Approach G6 adds two shortcut buttons to the preview of the green and stroke measure or to check the scores. This new model improves the contrast of the graphics and includes layup arcs on the maps as reference points. It can also store the location of a given point in the course and manually adjust the position to the pin that indicates the hole’s position.

With the digital scorecard, players can choose from four scoring games (Stroke Play, Stableford, Match Play, or Skins Game), plus check their individual statistics and print scorecards. The user also has access to a list of all rounds played and information throughout the year, with details of each player and each golf course. In parallel, the Approach G6 adds the option of calculating the distance of the last shot and adds this information to the average distance golfers hit with every club.

The Approach G6 family is part of Garmin devices designed to play golf, among which are also the Approach G5 G3 and Approach and Approach models S1 and S1W, two watches with integrated GPS designed for golf.
