January 27, 2014 – As result of the concern and enthusiasm of several golf professional last December 13, 2013, was born the Association of Golf Professionals of Catalunya, Catalunya PGA. After several years with the Catalan PGA was no longer operational, and after several recent attempts to get it back, finally has been re-launched to work with new initiatives and projects intended to revitalize the group of golf professionals in Catalonia.

Its official constitution has been communicated in a letter to presidents of clubs, golf directors, the Catalan Golf Federation and professionals in general, with a first Founding Board comprised by Christian Rouvidant (President), Ivo Giner (Vice President), Carlos Vivas (Secretary), Alberto Rodríguez (Treasurer) and Victor Ribera (Vocal), which will be modified or ratified at its first General Assembly.

The Catalunya PGA association pursues the objectives sought by most professionals in Catalunya. Basically work continuously in the training of professionals, defend and enhance the Brand Catalunya PGA, create agreements with companies to get services for professionals, organize their own tournaments and circuits for the members, and relaunch the relationship between clubs, managers, federation and golf instructors to promote working toghether in the same direction, which is opening the doors of golf the public and increase the number of players.

In a first plan is contemplated organizing a professional tour with ten individual tournament, one for doubles, a Match Play and a Grand Final, depending of the sponsors interests. The sponsor of an event will become associate partners of the other events, yet will sponsor the Grand Final. For professional players, the great attraction is that the top two in the ranking of the Catalunya PGA will win two places to play in the Qualifying School of the European Tour, with the support of the sponsoring brands of the tour, offering them their image.
