February 9, 2015 – adidas Golf has announced that revolutionary boost cushioning technology is now available in golf footwear for the first time, highlighted by the all-new adipower boost for both men and women. An industry-changing innovation, boost technology is designed to deliver maximum energy return, responsiveness and unparalleled comfort.

adidas’ innovative boost foam cushioning is comprised of thousands of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) energy capsules fused together by way of a proprietary high pressure steam moulding process. At their core, these capsules are the essence of the innovation; its function, storing and releasing energy efficiently throughout the swing and delivering maximum energy return as athletes perform.

While traditional EVA foam hardens and softens dramatically when temperatures fluctuate, boost foam retains consistent cushioning and is incredibly responsive in both hot and cold conditions. Combined with a lace-in saddle, fitsleeve tongue wrapping, external heel counter and a fitfoam PU sockliner, adipower boost delivers a more precise, comfortable fit for all golfers. Taking everything learned from boost technology’s remarkable success in running, basketball and baseball, designers have created the most comfortable footwear in adidas Golf history.

For extraordinary performance, adidas Golf conducted extensive player testing and results from force plate testing combined with critical tour player feedback for more than a year, incorporating key learning and utilising revolutionary and tour-proven gripmore technology in the shoe’s construction. For the first time, adidas Golf has placed gripmore cleats of varying sizes, strategically locating them on the outsole to deliver improved and more efficient traction and stability where it’s needed most.

Jason Day, adidas Golf brand ambassador and No.8 in the current Official World Golf Ranking, was first introduced to the shoe during testing in March2014, where he raved about the footwear’s aesthetic appearance, comfort and performance.

“When I first put them on, I immediately noticed how comfortable they were. I didn’t want to take them off,” said Jason Day. “During the swing, the energy return is noticeable – as if you can feel the technology in action. I wanted to keep them the moment I saw them. They feel good, and look good, too.”

The women’s adipower boost features many of the same design properties and technologies as the men’s model, including boost midsole foam in the heel for endless energy return and a lace in saddle. Also similar to the men’s model, the external heel counter adds even more lateral stability and support of the foot and gripmore technology is placed in the same location on the outsole for instantly recognisable traction.

“Innovation is at the core of everything we do, and we are relentlessly looking to push design, engineering and performance boundaries to create footwear that helps our athletes and all golfers perform at their highest level,” said Masun Denison, Director, Global Product Marketing, Footwear at adidas Golf. “adipower boost is a perfect example of utilising breakthrough technology never seen before in golf to create the ultimate performance golf shoe.”

In addition, adipower boost Boa will be available which features next-generation Boa Closure System with an incremental pull & push structure conveniently located on top centre tongue ideally connected to cuff belts for easier, more customisable, and micro adjustability.
