Quinta do Lago – European Tour player Ricardo Gouveia becomes global ambassador

January 26, 2017 – Ricardo Gouveia, Portugal’s highest-ever ranked golfer, has returned to his family roots after signing a new multi-year partnership with Quinta do Lago – one of the world’s elite luxury golf and lifestyle destinations. Gouveia, who was ranked 84th in the world in 2015, has become a global ambassador for Quinta do Lago and launched his new role at last week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

The 25-year-old European Tour star has a long-standing relationship with Quinta do Lago dating back to his days as a child growing up in the Algarve, with his family home located in the grounds of Laranjal, one of the prestigious venue’s three championship golf courses.

Gouveia still uses Quinta do Lago as his base to practice when he is in Portugal, and he is relishing the opportunity to represent the resort at tournaments around the world.

“Quinta do Lago is one of the most recognised golf resorts in the world and for me to partner with them is a huge honour”, said Ricardo Gouveia, who wears the Quinta Do Lago logo on his left sleeve.

“As a Portuguese player, to have this resort with three amazing golf courses, fantastic practice facilities and beautiful properties on my polo shirt, is something that I am extremely proud of”.

In 2016, Ricardo Gouveia finished his maiden European Tour season at 54th on the Race To Dubai, comfortably retaining his card for the 2017 season. He had a T7 finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, T8 at the Made in Denmark, T13 at the Turkish Airlines Open and the highlight of the year being a T3 finish at the Nedbank Golf Challenge enabling Ricardo to play at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Gouveia also represented Portugal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and again at the World Cup at the end of the year in Melbourne.

May 20, 2016 – Golf Digest, one of the world’s largest and most influential golf media brands, has crowned two member venues of European Tour Properties, the network of world class golf venues, in its inaugural Editors’ Choice Awards.

Quinta do Lago, in Portugal, which now boasts three championship golf courses, including the radically revamped North Course – designed by Beau Welling in association with 2014 European Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley – topped the media title’s ‘Best International Resort, Continental Europe’ listing.

Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort, the five-star resort in Provence, France, and venue of the European Senior Tour’s French Riviera Masters, was recognised for its emphasis on first-class experience, lifestyle properties, the finest products and five-star services.

For its inaugural Editors’ Choice Awards, Golf Digest USA – which has more than 1.6m subscribers in the US alone – surveyed a 900-strong committee of golf-course panelists and sought nominations and opinions from across the international network of foreign Golf Digest editions, as well as other partners, professionals and seasoned golf travellers, in addition to its own well-travelled editors.
