Ping – Introducing the new Glide wedges, already succeeding on Tour

February 4, 2015 – The new Glide wedge continues to make its presence felt on the PGA Tour, where 15 of 17 Ping pros utilize a total of 39 wedges. In Europe, nine of 14 Ping pros play 21 wedges, including Miguel Ángel Jiménez, who won with Glide wedges two weeks ago in Mitsubishi Electric Championship, at the Champions Tour in Hawaii.

At last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, Angel Cabrera was T1 in G.I.R., hitting 56 of 72 greens, or 77.78%. Partial credit goes to his new Glide wedges. He relies on a 54ºWS (wide sole) and a 60ºSS (standard sole). Ten of the 11 Ping pros in Phoenix relied on Glide wedges.

Persistent rain on Friday and damp conditions Saturday highlighted one of the Glide wedge’s advantages. Its 431 stainless steel head features a moisture-repelling chrome-plated finish, which creates more friction for improved spin and consistency in wet conditions and lies in the rough.

The proprietary Dyla-wedge grip is ¾ of an inch longer to encourage gripping down to control ball flight.

The CFS Wedge shaft is optimised in weight, flex and balance to provide a stable feel and lower ball flights.

Three versatile sole designs vary in width – standard, wide, and thin – enabling players to be fit for their angle of attack and common turf conditions.

In lofts 47 through 54, loft-optimised Gorge grooves have a 16º sidewall to maximise groove volume for improved performance on full shots. A 24º sidewall and tighter radius in lofts 56 through 60 optimise spin on chips and pitches.

The chrome-plated 431 stainless steel head repels moistureto create more friction for improved spin and consistency in wet conditions and lies in the rough.
