Ping – Miguel Angel Jimenez wins in style in his Champions Tour debut

April 21, 2014 – The Ping staff player Miguel Angel Jimenez held off Bernhard Langer to win the Greater Gwinnett Championship on Sunday, becoming only the third player to lead from start to finish in his Champions Tour debut.

Coming from a fourth-place finish in the Masters, Jimenez closed with a 67 to finish two strokes ahead of Langer. The Spanish player finished the tournament with 32 consecutive holes without a bogey at TPC Sugarloaf, trusting in a golf bag full Ping clubs, including the i25 driver, S55 irons and Scottsdale Pickemup putter.

Bernhard Langer (Adams), the defending champion, shot his third-straight 68. Jimenez and Langer were tied at 10 under before a two-shot swing on No. 8. Jimenez needed only a short putt for a birdie, and Langer fell two strokes behind with his bogey.

His other strongest oponents were Jay Haas (Titleist), who shot 67 and was third, four shots off the lead, and the American Fred Couples (Bridgestone) who shot 70 and was fourth.
