January 5, 2014 – The “Pisha” has been pleasantly surprised! On Friday night, January 3th, the Ping Spain team organized a surprise dinner for Miguel Angel Jimenez on the special occasion of his 50th birthday, where he was handed the golden putter with which Ping celebrates every victory with its putters on Tour. The golden putter is a replica of the Scottsdale Pickemup model with which he recently won the USB Hong Kong Open, representing the 20th putter of his personal collection.

Miguel knew nothing about it, and expected to have dinner with his partner, together with Fernando Cambronero (Manager of Ping Spain) and his wife Luisa. To his great surprise, on entering the restaurant, he came across a table with 20 friends who wanted to give him a birthday dinner.

At the end of the evening he received the golden putter with which he achieved his fourth win in Hong Kong. A gorgeous gift for a special date, which in fact is another big surprise, as the production and delivery of the commemorative Ping golden putters usually takes about six months. The company, based in Phoenix (Arizona, USA) dramatically accelerated the process in order to make the date.

The evening was full of animated conversation, memories and endless golfing anecdotes from Miguel and all the professionals and friends.

A common sentiment was expressed by all of them… “We would like more”, and all we expect more successes from Miguel in the coming years. As he has often said, “I’m like a fine wine, I improve over the years.”
