HotelPlanner Tour – Fontanals Golf hosts the future of European golf with the return of the Challenge de Catalunya

April 30, 2026 – The tournament, the sixth event of the HotelPlanner Tour, will bring together top players aiming to make the leap to the DP World Tour; the next world number one could emerge from Fontanals Golf.
The Challenge de Catalunya returns to the international calendar from May 14 to 17 at Fontanals Golf, establishing itself as one of the key events for discovering the future stars of European golf. The tournament will be the sixth stop on the HotelPlanner Tour, the tour that serves as a gateway to the DP World Tour, where the continent’s best players compete.
More than just a tournament, the Challenge de Catalunya represents a true platform for growth for young talents seeking to break into the elite of world golf. Throughout its history, this tour has been the starting point for major names who now compete at the highest level.
A recent example is French player Clément Charmasson, who last year achieved his first professional victory at Fontanals Golf during the Challenge de España, marking the beginning of a rise that has now taken him to compete on the DP World Tour.

But the history of the Challenge de Catalunya goes even further. In its first edition, held in 2012, the tournament saw the victory of a very young Brooks Koepka, who years later would become world number one and establish himself as one of the leading figures in international golf. A precedent that reinforces the tournament’s role as a showcase for future talent.
Although Catalonia has hosted multiple Challenge Tour events over the years, this will be only the third time it is played under the name Challenge de Catalunya, reinforcing its special status within the calendar.
For four days, Fontanals Golf will become the epicenter of emerging talent, offering players from across Europe the opportunity to compete at the highest level and take a decisive step in their careers.
The Challenge de Catalunya is not just a competition: it is where the stories that will shape the future of golf begin.
The Challenge de Catalunya is supported by the HotelPlanner Tour, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, Fontanals Golf Club, the Catalan Golf Federation, and the Spanish Sports Council, as well as Allianz, AON, Girona Provincial Council, Fontanals Town Hall, Ríos Renovables, Halcón Viajes, Kyocera, Volvo, Bodegas Juan Gil, Mahou, Solán de Cabras, Revel, and Titleist, under the organization of JGolf.
