Golden Ping iron for Oosthuizen for his double eagle at the Master

April 26th, 2012 – As most of you may know since Ping founder Karsten Solheim wanted to thanks those pro players who chose to play and win with Ping on all different Tours. He thought what a better way than making an exact gold plated replica of the Ping putter used to win the tournament.
The putter would have the name of the player and of the tournament etched into the putter head. Two replicas would be made, one given to the player and one to stay on the putter vault at Ping headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. For those victories on any of the Majors, Ping additionally makes two solid gold replicas, one for the player and one for the putter vault. Today, Ping still is the putter most used to win Majors. Currently, the Ping putter vault holds over 3.000 gold putters, being Severiano Ballesteros the most represented name in the vault, with more than 50 gold putters under his name.
The latest putter to have come into the vault has been the magnificent victory from Bubba Watson at the Masters over fellow player Louis Oosthuizen, who after a double eagle at the par 5 hole #2 on the last day gave himself a chance to win up to the very end. Although Louis did not came it as the Master winner, he played at a very high level all Masters. Because of this and especially for his second shot on hole 2, Ping wants to thank him for his loyalty to the brand making an exact gold replica of the #4 iron used on that shot. A second copy as usual will be part of golf and Ping history at our Ping putter vault.
Before being plated in golf, the Ping S56 4-iron of the picture was built with the exact same specifications as the S56 4-iron that resides in the bag of Ping Pro Louis Oosthuizen.
It is worth mentioning that at the same time of the edition of this news, Ping is getting ready to make two new replicas for Louis Oosthuizen and Lee Westwood for their wins this past two weeks in Malaysia and Indonesia respectively. Once again we get to see the mental strength of this two players, and specially, that of Louis who the previous week had been very close to winning the Masters. Very impressive reaction of this wonderful South African player.
