March 31, 2013 – Cleveland Golf, a leader in wedges and equipment innovation for more than 30 years, has introduced in 2013 three exciting new wedges: 588 RTX CB, 588 RTX Bladed and 588 Forged RTG.

The 588 RTX wedges, in Cavity Back and Bladed versions, combine the legendary performance of the original 588 wedge with added forgiveness and breakthrough Rotex technology – Cleveland Golf’s most advanced spin technology ever.

Cleveland explain that the Rotex face is a directionally milled face pattern that adds roughness and imparts maximum spin on open-face wedge shots where the impact tends to be closer to the toe. With a more durable and advanced form of laser milling, the Rotex face now creates more friction at impact, helping golfers generate even more spin on chips, pitches and partial shots from any lie.

The 588 RTX wedges also features 16% larger U-Grooves, which Cleveland have developed with the help of their  Tour players, to maximise spin on critical scoring shots – especially out of the rough, sand and in wet conditions.

In the 588 RTX CB wedges, an undercut cavity promotes perimeter weighting for more forgiveness on off-center hits. The reverse C Sole is inspired by Cleveland Golf’s popular CG14 and CG16 wedges, this wide, constant-width sole combines heel and toe grinds to improve performance from bunkers and deep rough.

The 588 RTX Bladed wedges feature an S-Sole design, inspired by Cleveland Golf’s popular CG15 wedges. The wider sole width near the heel and narrower sole width near the toe improves performance from bunkers without sacrificing versatility.

Cleveland Golf’s 588 RTX bladed come in the largest variety of loft (46° to 64°) and 588 RTX CB (46º to 60º) and bounce options in the industry and can be custom fitted. Both can be find in Satin Chrome and Black Pearl finishes.

New sole for the 588 Forged RTG wedge

The new 588 Forged RTG wedge maintains the popular, tour-proven shape of Cleveland Golf’s 588 Forged wedge and now features a dynamic sole grind. The dynamic sole grind’s material reduction on the back of the sole allows players to open the face with a lower leading edge for better contact on open-faced shots and maximum versatility around the green. The 588 Forged RTG wedge is available in an Oil Quench finish and will rust over time.

Made from 1025 carbon steel, the 588 Forged RTG wedge offers golfers an incredibly soft yet solid feel and less unwanted vibration. The advanced Precision Forging process ensures the highest level of part-to-part manufacturing consistency for supreme confidence and trust over every shot. The 588 Forged RTG wedge’s Tour Zip Grooves and Laser Milled technology help to maximize spin in accordance with USGA regulations.

The 588 Forged RTG wedge also features a True Temper Dynamic Gold shaft, a high-flex, tour-weight shaft designed for skilled players seeking a low, penetrating ball flight for optimum control and accuracy. The 588 Forged RTG wedge is available in lofts of 52° to 64°.
