Bridgestone Golf – Matt Kuchar’s arsenal to win the 2014 RBC Heritage
April 22, 2014 – Bridgestone Tour team member and fan favourite Matt Kuchar used a little Easter Sunday magic to fire a 7-under par 64, coming from 4-shots back, to win the 2014 RBC Heritage on the picturesque Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort.
Kuchar’s victory, the 7th of his career, was capped by an improbable holed out greenside bunker shot on the 72nd hole, and comes at the end of a grueling four-week stretch in which he lived up to his reputation as the most consistent player on PGA Tour, factoring into the championship decision at each event.
Kuchar relied on the Bridgestone TOUR B330-S golf ball in his dramatic victory, giving the brand’s new Hydro Core technology its fifth worldwide tour win of 2014. Matt took full advantage of Hydro Core’s reduced spin and Bridgestone’s patented seamless cover technology in getting off to a blistering start on Sunday at the Heritage, birdieing 6 of his first 9 holes, and 8 total in the final round. For the week, Kuchar finished ranked 1st in Greens in Regulation hitting an incredible 73.6% of the greens in often-windy conditions on Hilton Head Island.
To win Matt trusted in his Bridgestone Golf arsenal, including the TOUR B330-S (with Hydro Core) golf ball, the J40 430 driver (9.5 degrees), the J40 Cavity Back Irons Black (5-PW) and the J40 Black Oxide Wedges (52 degrees, bent to 51 degrees).
“After playing some great golf over the last 4 weeks, it is really rewarding to capture my first victory of the year on a track like Harbour Town,” said Matt Kuchar. “The wind blew at 25 miles per hour plus at times, but I am confident in what my ball is going to do, as I’ve said time and again, the Bridgestone ball just seems to cut through the wind better than any other ball out here. It really is a competitive advantage if you don’t have to guess what your ball is going to do!”
“Kuch has easily been the hottest player on Tour for most of this year,” said Dan Murphy, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc. “To now have a win to go with all those Top 5s gives us great confidence that this is shaping up to be a special season for Matt, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with him.”
