May 5, 2016 – The Long Drivers European Tour visits Denmark for the first time next Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of May in what will be the second tournament of the 2016 season. The Silkeborg Ry Golfklub, in the city of Ry, will host an event for the tour that will bring 25 hitters from all over Europe, which will include the current European champion Maurice Allen.

After the premiere of this tour season at the Fairmont St. Andrews in Scotland, the home of golf, the adrenaline of the long drivers tour lands in Denmark, which is a new addition to the circuit. The tournament will be held in Silkeborg Ry Golfklub, highly recognized as one of Denmark’s finest golf venues and this year celebrates its 50th birthday.

“The Denmark LDET Championship will kick off a series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our venue in 2016”, says Mads Faber, Manager of the course. “We are very pleased to welcome the elite Long Drivers of the World to Kildebjerg-Ry and the first ever LDET Championship in Denmark”, he ads.

The current European long drive champion, American Maurice Allen, returns to the tee after being out the season opener in Scotland for personal reasons. With no points yet for the 2016 ranking, he will be chasing the current leader, English rookie Matt Nicolle.

“I am really looking forward to my season opener, the LDET has been very important in my success as a long drive professional”, Maurice Allen says. “This tour has allowing me to develop into one of the top hitters in the world. I am really looking forward to competing again on this amazing tour”, he explains.

This event will also be a great opportunity to see the best hits of the number two ranked hitter of last season, the South African Dewald Lubbe, and other hitters like Mauro Benaglio (Switzerland) or Timo Petrasch (Germany). The local player of the LDET, Frederik Frost, is injured, so he will miss the championship. It is sure to be a hotly contested tournament with a high level of competitiveness amongst some of the best Long Drivers in Europe.
