August 23, 2015 – Nacho Elvira claimed victory in the ROLEX Trophy at the Golf Club Genève. The Galvin Green staff player thus gains immediate entrance to next season’s European Tour, in which he played in 2014, after achieving his third title at the 2015 European Challenge Tour.

The 23 year old golfer, who previously triumphed at the Challenge de Madrid and the Kärnten Golf Open, won with superb play at the 2015 ROLEX Trophy, where only the best 42 players of the Road to Oman Ranking make up the field and compete concurrently in a Pro-Am format during the event.

The Spanish player took the lead after the second round, although he completed the Swiss course with 63 strokes in the first round, with only the Australian Ryan Fox ahead.

The Cantabrian golfer maintained his excellent game jumping to the leadership with a 65 in the second round, and retained it with a 69 in the third round. On the last day, Saturday, with a two-stroke advantage over his closest rivals, the Portuguese Ricardo Gouveia was the only player to put pressure on him with a final score of 66. But Ignacio was not intimidated and finished the last nine holes brilliantly, with an eagle and three birdies from the 13th to the 16th, sailing ahead in spite of an unimportant bogey at the 17th, ending with a 67 for a total of 264 strokes and 24 under par.

“It is unbelievable, it’s hard to describe,” Nacho Elvira said after receiving the trophy.

“I have been working very hard this year and it has finally paid off. I feel very excited and I am very happy… It is a dream to be back in The European Tour so soon. After my second win I felt a lot of pressure trying to get the third win, but then I started to relax and it has gone better. My objective for the season was to get into the top 15 in the Ranking, so this is way beyond my expectations.”
