The film ‘Tiger Woods of Bengal’: asking for equipment for underprivileged golfing kids in India

August 9, 2015 – Danny Mamik and Hemanshu Rathod are two filmmakers from Mumbai, India, who go on offbeat trips every now and then, hunting for a good report. And in one of their recent trips to Chalsa, in the state of West Bengal, they met with the ‘golf kids’.

Both thought the story of these kids is very inspiring and should be shared and made known throughout the world. They shot the entire documentary with normal mobile phones and a handy cam.

The documentary, entitled ‘Tiger Woods of Bengal’, discovers the real passion of these kids for golf, who go to the Polo Club Chalsa from their marginal village while their parents work in the tea plantations. Meet Aashish and Kirtan, who sometimes work as caddies. They have no equipment but both want to play golf so much that they make their own hand made golf clubs with ‘wooden sticks’.

The target of the film by Danny and Hemanshu is to look for help for these kids by collecting equipment, clothing and accessories, so that they can develop their passion for golf.

Some media and American magazines are showing interest in the cause, and MyGolfWay.com too. And the truth is that they have begun to receive many positive responses from around the world, and have already received the first kits of clubs, which will be transferred to Chalsa as soon as possible.
