January 14, 2014 – The new year has begun, and with it the third edition of the Miguel Angel Jimenez Tour by Capitrans, this time at national level and with a considerable number of improvements and new features. With Miguel Angel Jimenez just turned 50, the tour is to be played for the first time throughout the Spanish geography, thanks to an agreement signed with the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.

The tour will consist of twelve events around Spain, so that players with a golf license in younger categories (Benjamín, Alevín, Infantil, Cadete y Junior) can participate without restriction. The grand final will be played in Malaga.

The prize for event is one of the great novelties of this edition. The winners of each category will qualify directly for the final, with a total of 60 players. To these will be added the top-3 in the annual ranking for each category, completing the number of 75 players.

Another important feature for 2014 is that four of the events will count towards the national ranking of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, a close cooperation which has started with the intention of growing in the coming years and increasing the number of scoring tournaments in 2015 if possible. Miguel Angel Jimenez said: “I am very pleased with this agreement with RFEG since we both clearly want kids to continue feeling motivated to improve in a sport that must rely on young people, in the future…”

The Miguel Angel Jimenez Tour by Capitrans begins at the Parador de Malaga Golf on the 9th of February, at the express request of the Malaga golfer, who will attend the inaugural event after his tour in the desert of the UAE. The commitment of Miguel Angel to young Spanish golfers has been present in all his activities outside professional competition, and this time he did not want to miss the start of the tour, to the point of changing dates and venues to make it possible to be physically present in many of the events.

As in previous years, the format of the Miguel Angel Jimenez by Capitrans Tour will be stableford. Each event will score in a global ranking, and at the end of the year the top three in each category will qualify for the final in Malaga.
