Ping – First victory of Nome TR putter on Tour, by Harris English
June 12, 2013 – The new Ping putter Nome TR was the star of the PGA Tour last Sunday. With this putter, Harris English took his first personal win and that of the putter on the Tour, at the FedEx St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
The 23-year-old American, a Ping staff player, holed 14 pats of 3 yards to claim his victory, the best statistic in his history. His Nome TR, with a shaft of 35 ½ inches and 3º loft, was a key contribution, since in his second round of 64 strokes, he only needed 22 putts.
The Ping Nome TR putter is the next evolution of the popular Nome mallet design introduced last year. The putter head is the same original Nome design, with the added performance of milled True Roll (TR) groove technology on the face. The head is finished with a black anodized coating with a contrast white alignment aid. Heel and toe weights made from tungsten composite material are placed in the sole.
The putter utilizes the same Black PP58 Midsize Cord grip that has become popular on the new Scottsdale TR series. The Nome TR is available for order as a non adjustable length model or with the adjustable length shaft. It can also be ordered in Straight, Slight Arc, and Strong Arc stroke types.
The new Nome TR putter has a limited edition of only 30 units for the Spanish market.
RRP: With adjustable length shaft, 325 €; non adjustable, 299 €.
