Tours – The Toro Tour and PG Golf & Sports Academy announce their partnership for 2024/25 season

July 25, 2024 – Ex tour professional Peter Gustafsson gives a helping shoulder to caddie/Tour manager Calum McGregor. In other words, the Toro Tour and PG Golf & Sports Academy have joined forces to create the perfect environment for Elite golfers to train and compete this winter on the Costa del Sol.

The Toro Tour it will be hosting 16 three day Pro/WAGR events this season in addition to a few extra. The biggest schedule in the tours history. With the tour growing in popularity, new courses have been included, stretching the season from November to March.

The events will be taking place from La Cala de Mijas to La Hacienda Links in Cadiz, with the majority of events around Marbella, Estepona and the Sotogrande area.

The PG Golf & Sports Academy was established by European Tour golfer Peter Gustafsson. Building on his passion for the game and his desire to share his expertise with aspiring golfers, Peter has created two state of the art Trackman driving ranges and training facilities in Atalaya and Mijas. Peter also hosts numerous events including his annual International Pro-Am, this year in October at the World renowned La Reserva Club Sotogrande.

Sun drenched Andalucia has always been a popular destination for all golfers, but with the perfect winter golf conditions, excellent golf courses, state of art training facilities and a full schedule of Toro Tour events, many Elite golfers are going to make Spain their home this coming winter.

“Toro Tour players are already familiar with PG Academy and Atalaya Golf from seasons before, but by joining forces we were able to put our heads together and truly create a special environment for all golfers. We tried to think of everything from the players perspective. When creating the schedule, we based the events around the PG Academy, including a PG Performance Swing. With PG contacts, we are able to offer all golfers accommodation and training packages. By keeping the players close to the academy, they can work on their games long into the floodlight night. Players will also have access to the PG academy coaching team if they need additional help,” said Calum McGregor.

“It’s also great to see all our players training and practising together. Putting and chipping contests during non-tournament days is what makes our players better. It’s also great when some of Peters fellow tour professional friends come down to practise and share their tips and knowledge to our younger players.”

“I have watched the Toro Tour since it started in 2020 and have always been a friend of the tour. Many Toro Tour players already use the PG Facilities and many of the top amateurs are being coached by members of my team. I get to see them working and training and it is good to see the hard work these guys are putting into their game. I often talk to the guys and girls when they are having their lunch between sessions and tell them that this is what it takes to get to the top,” said Peter Gustafsson.

“After speaking with the Toro Tour team and discussing ways we could help the players, we were able to create a series of events based on the top golf courses around the training facilities. This will make it easier for the players accommodation and travel. We can also create tailor made packages to suit the players needs from airport transfers, short and long stay accommodation options to training and coaching. I am expecting a great winter season and have pledged to invite the top three players on the Order of Merit to join next year field of players at The PG international Pro-Am event. We also have a few other incentives we will announce in due course.”

“By joining forces hopefully we have created the perfect environment for all level of golfers to compete at the highest possible standard. We look forward to seeing you all this Winter in sunny Spain.”

The Toro Tour season opening event takes place at The San Roque Resort, 13th to 15th of November.
