Watches and golf – Introducing the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” edition

July 6, 2014 – To celebrate its expanding presence in the world of golf, Omega created the Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf”. With distinctive green or blue and gold elements on its dial, the models in this collection fashionably identify with a truly global sport and reflect Omega’s commitment to promoting the global growth of the game.

With its green transferred “Seamaster” name and matching minute track, this Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” recalls the verdant courses where golf’s great events are contested. The minute track is complemented by the green varnished central seconds hand which stands out against the black dial decorated with the “Teak Concept” pattern. The 41.5 mm stainless steel case is fitted with Omega’s patented screw and pin stainless steel bracelet or a brown Barénia strap crafted from leather of the highest quality. The Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” is water resistant to 15 bar (150 metres / 500 feet).

Barénia leather is known for its natural patina which changes depending on how often the product is used or worn. Before use, the leather strap is light brown and over time it will become darker. Although the colour of the strap changes with wear, it will retain its original suppleness and natural appearance.

Official Timekeeper of the Ryder Cup

Omega is proud to be the Official Timekeeper of the Ryder Cup when it is contested in the USA. It is one of golf’s most thrilling events, pitting a team of the best American golfers against their counterpart from Europe. The players don’t compete for prize money but for the glory of triumph.

To honour this incredible tournament, Omega created a special edition of the Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” with facetted blue hour and minute hands, an 18K yellow gold seconds hand and red transferred design elements. These colours against the silvery background of the dial are inspired by the Ryder Cup logo.

These three Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf” models are equipped with the revolutionary new Omega Master Co-Axial calibre 8500 – a self-winding, anti-magnetic mechanical movement that is characterised by outstanding reliability and improved chronometric performance over time. Distinguishing this movement from its Co-Axial predecessor is the movement’s resistance to magnetic fields, even those greater than 15,000 gauss.
