August 11, 2014 – You could say that they are privileged, but the truth is that they’ve earned it. Here we present the Galvin Green Iberian Team, which is composed of five Spanish golfers: Alfonso Castiñeira, Alvaro Velasco, Carlos Pigem, Mireia Prat and Raúl Quirós; and two Portuguese players: Nuno Henriques and Tiago Cruz.

This is a carefully chosen group of golfers not because they’re mega golf stars, but because every time they compete their charisma abounds on the course, along with their capacity for hard work, their performance potential, their professionalism on the tours and, ultimately, their commitment to the game.

Few golfers are dressed by the renowned Swedish brand to represent it on the European Tour, Challenge Tour or Ladies European Tour. ALFONSO CASTIÑEIRA (1983)

Alfonso is a golfer from Galicia, where the weather is very appropriate for Galvin Green technical clothing, especially in winter, due to the cold and rain. Member of RCG La Coruña (La Zapateira), he won the Peugeot Loewe Tour Qualifying School in 2008 at Golf El Rompido.

He began to compete in the Alps Tour and National Tour in 2010, and besides winning the Circuito Profesional Gallego in 2011, he scored several Top 10 in the Alps Tour. The following seasons he played in the Allianz Tour (French Tour) and the National Tour. He also came second in the Vidago Open 2012 of the Portuguese PGA Tour. One of his future projects is to caddy in the LET and LPGA Tour.

ALVARO VELASCO (1981)

Pro since 2005, this Barcelona golfer has two wins on the Challenge Tour, the Kazakhstan Open and the Fred Olsen Challenge of Spain in 2010, with which he clinched first place in the Challenge Ranking that year. Very active in the European Tour seasons of 2008, 2009 and 2011, he was fourth in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2011.

In recent years he has been unceasing in his efforts to recover his card, playing intensely on the Challenge in 2012, 2013 and 2014, with five Top 10. He took second place in the Norwegian Challenge 2012, fourth in the recent D+D Real Slovakia Challenge 2014 and fifth in the Trophée Hassan II 2013. He is delighted with the agility and ease with which the multilayer Galvin Green concept allows him to change clothes on the course.

CARLOS PIGEM (1990)

This promising young Catalan golfer accumulated a brilliant record as an amateur, with the Spain Championship, the World University Team and the St. Andrews Trophy in 2012. After that he made ​​the leap to professionalism in 2013. Having won the Alps Tour Qualifying School, his aspirations took him to the Asian Tour in 2013 y 2014, a demanding tour on which he continues to develop as a golfer.

Two third places at Resort World Manila Masters 2013 and Solaire Open 2014 plus the fourth at SAILSBI Open 2014, show his great work and talent, backed now by Galvin Green. This year we are seeing him playing more and more on the European Tour, having made ​​the cut at the Opens of Malaysia, Spain and Russia.

MIREIA PRAT (1989)

The only lady golfer in the group complies perfectly with the profile of Galvin Green players in Spain. She has been a pro since 2012, when she played 11 tournaments on the Ladies European Tour (LET). In 2013 she concentrated on the LET Access Series, where she won in the Ocho Golf Ladies Open de Galicia and the Costa Blanca Ladies Open.

Her first place in the Order of Merit of LETAS 2013 opened the door to the LET 2014, where she is already beginning to reap the fruits of her hard work, having past seven cuts in 11 events and finishing 14º in the recent Sberbank Golf Masters in the Czech Republic. Conscious of her ​​clothes she wears, Galvin Green provides her with the appropriate apparel for every occasion.

NUNO HENRIQUES (1987)

The Portuguese golfer from Funchal is playing on the Challenge Tour this year, after having played the previous two seasons in the Pro Golf Tour in Germany, where he achieved the Top 5 seven times.

He is a member of the Club de Golf Santo da Serra, where in 2012 he carded a 59.

Professional since 2011, he usually plays the Portuguese European Tour events, which this year were the Portugal Masters and Open Madeira Islands, played on his golf course, and where versatility of Galvin Green garments allow him to overcome the Atlantic’ changing weather.

RAUL QUIROS (1979)

The golfer from Guadiaro (Cádiz), professional since 1999 and with considerable experience on the European Tour, was combining the Challenge Tour, Alps Tour and Gecko Pro Tour with his job as instructor at La Cañada. This he did in 2013, with a victory in the Alps of Castile, but an injury prevented him from participating in the European Tour Qualifying School.

This 2014 season Raul has other priorities. He plays when he can, and successfully, as he won the last Gecko Pro Tour event at La Reserve last March. But he has chosen to be the caddy of his friend Alvaro Quiros in the Tour, which allows him to continue wearing the Galvin Green logo on his clothing among the best professionals of the world.

TIAGO CRUZ (1982)

Another golfer who enjoys the quality of Galvin Green garments is this Portuguese player from Estoril, who started the year playing the Pro Golf Tour in Germany (Satellite Tour), and then focussed on playing and training in Portugal for the European Tour Qualifying School. He trains at Estoril Golf and Oitavos Dunes, and since May he also gives lessons to children at the National Center Formação do Jamor of the Portuguese Federation.

He turned pro in 2006 and plays regularly in the European Tour events in Portugal. Among his best results are two victories in the Pro Golf Tour, the Red Sea Egyptian Classic (2013) and Samanah Classic (2010), as well as coming second in the Amelkis Classic (2010 and 2012) and Brose Coburg Classic 2010.
