Coppa Colmar – Successful first golf event in Spain, at RCG El Prat

June 24, 2014 – Although the festivity of Sant Joan attracted many to go out of Barcelona, ​​Real Club de Golf El Prat brought together nearly a hundred golfers to play the first event of the 2014 Coppa Colmar in Spain, on Sunday 22nd of June.

The Coppa Colmar is a tour sponsored by the well-known Italian clothing sportswear brand Colmar, which dresses European Tour players like Alejandro Cañizares, Edoardo Molinari, Marco Crespi or Andrea Pavan. This year it has stepped up in terms of internationalization, organizing two events in France, one in Austria and another in Spain, along with seven in Italy, under the direction of Paolo de Chiesa, famous slalom skier of the 70s and now Italian journalist.

The winners are invited to compete in the grand final at Golf Club Milano, in Monza, on 26 and 27 September. So the winners of the Coppa Colmar here will be able to say that they have played in the venues of the 2015 Open de España, the Open course of RCG El Prat, and the 2015 Italian Open, as this will take place in the same course of ​​Milan.

The tournament was played in the fourball pairs mode, with a tight finish as the ten first teams were placed within a 5 point range. The trophies went to the following: in Lower Handicap to Ignacio and Mateo Bores (44 points); in Superior Handicap to Jorge and Eric Montaner (43 points); and in Scratch to Jose Felipe Bertran and Javier Aldamiz-Echevarria (36 points).

The best golfers of the different categories received polo shirts and equipment from Colmar and other gifts from the sponsors of the 2014 Coppa Colmar, including Bollé, Longbeach, Guido Gobino, Red Bull, KIA, Coppo Caneli, Wilson Staff and SLAncio.

  • Lower Handicap: 1º) Ignacio Bores and Mateo Bores, 44 points; 2º) Juan Antonio Suárez and Cesar Suarez, 43 points, 3º) Manuel Martinez and Alejandro Arenas, 42 points.
  • Superior Handicap: 1º) Jorge Montaner and Eric Montaner, 43 points; 2º) Robert Coppo and Valter Garbarino, 36 points; 3º) Olga Tello and Clemens Brauer, 35 points.
  • Scratch: 1º) José Felipe Bertran and Aldamiz-Javier Echevarria, 36 points.
  • Lady’s Pairs: 1º) Dana-Helga Puyol and Ana Felip, 38 points.
  • Senior Pairs: 1º) Marisa Bara and Javier Valls, 41 points.
  • Mixed Pairs: 1º) Eva Vilagut and Felipe Bertran, 41 points.
